People keep buying it every year with them making only minor improvements ... and what's worse: I'm pretty sure EA makes way more money off micro transactions than they do off game sales, so there's absolutely no incentive for them to cut out any of that. It'd be easy for EA to, say, switch to a release every two or even three years-sending a roster update with photos and new face scans out and then having longer to work on improvements to the actual game. But they'd make less money, and no one wants to make less money. And here's the thing: Even if 2K gets the next exclusive contract ... they'll fall into this same pattern. Maybe, after a couple of years, the gameplay will be better (I'm sure they'll be bumps in the beginning) ... but then it'll stagnate and almost surely become a microtransaction-filled mess like the NBA2k series.
I can't believe it didnt happen to him during the test: on the off chance your QB actually throws a fade route correctly to the corner of the endzone, even with insane separation your guy will drop it or worse land out of bounds with nobody around him. The outcome of half of these plays are decided as soon as you snap the ball. When you play against AI you are simming each play and then watching the result once it's snapped.

I was playing a Seahawks franchise, drafted a generational Left Tackle in my first draft, became a 97 OVR LT and was getting beat consistently by mid 70-80 past rushers in every game. He would give up 3 sacks in a game to some random edge rusher, then I go to check that RE's stats for the rest of the year and he finishes with like 4 sacks total. Case in point, MADDEN IS NOT SIMULATION FOOTBALL. DROP THE RIGHTS EA.
it's because tackles can get above 95ovr with >70 speed rating. These defensive ends or rushing linebackers will end up with 80+ speed and just decimate the terrible AI off the edge every single time. Theres like 1 OT I've seen in madden ever with a speed rating that could match any starting edge rusher. It's fucking hard coded into the game that your tackles will get beat. Dont worry though, on a designed run over that tackle he will somehow have the speed necessary to completly skip his first assignment and go block a DB that's not even part of the play yet 15 yards down the field even though your RB couldn't make it 2 yards past the defender who just got passed up.
I personally don’t feel 2k or Madden are that horrible and still have fun playing them but just bit of a waste of money since essentially we are paying for close to the same game with roster updates. Granted i say this as a relatively casual gamer so I’m not over analyzing the details and all of the little things that are wrong .. at least little things in my experience as a casual gamer.

Isn't just with madden. EA FC, F1, NHL, etc. all the ea games are new copy and pastes and all the communities are sick of it. But what can we do? Nothing. because greedy corporations like the NFL and FIFA want to make as much money as they can off EA rather than create an enjoyable game.

Nothing we can do you say? Trapped? I did something. I got out of the trap. How? I decided that I was putting down the games for good. I have not played Madden since about 2 or 3 years after NCAA 14. It's been a month since I've disconnected my PS and I truly feel like I'm done with modern gaming. Take me back to the 80's and 90's and I'll play again. The time I have freed up to focus on my other interests and endeavors has been awesome. I'm gonna keep walking down this path. There is no excuse in the world that justifies why these games come out with so many of these issues. I personally have said "enough is enough", and I would rather write poetry for an hour than play Madden for an hour. ....and by the way I did buy NCAA 25 and I was enjoying it for the most part if nothing else than just the nostalgia of it. ...but I was willing to put it down for good and absorb the price I put down for it. They’ve restructured how NPCs function, with patents detailing new ways these characters will interact with players, other NPCs, and even the environment, such as the weather. One patent even outlines how NPCs will drive in varied and dynamic ways.
Micro transactions ruined games in general. Companies like EA profited heavily from them that they don’t really need to refresh or retool the game to better. As long as their in the black, EA will never change. The only way to stop this is to boycott by not only buying madden but by seeing streamers and nfl players play this garbage.

ESPN 2k5 was my first football game at 10 years old. The game was so immersive, first I learned the rules, and then the history of greatest games. It had a modern feel with a crib and celebrity challenges. Football will never die but madden will.
Madden 25 doesn’t do small details well at all. To capture realism that the people want, you need to thing of the small things like the camera crew moving the camera towards the players like they’re actually going to take of a piture of them. Like you said the side lines are so dead in terms of atmosphere that it feels lazy and cheap. Also I hate that players like Daniel jones (who show very little emotion on the field) run out of the tunnels and jump up and down all energetic. Things like that take me out of it and lose my interest.
I honestly couldn’t have worded it myself. The players don’t act like themselves irl. The atmosphere of madden is always dry and boring. They make small barebone improvements and then expect people to praise them.

I love playing franchise and trying to rebuild teams as realistically as possible and it infuriates me how hard it is to enjoy. The dev regressions, shitty gameplay, terrible blocking, god awful zone coverage and bugs like the progressive fatigue just piss me off so much. I really hope the NFL is smart and doesnt renew their licence with EA like we saw with fifa and EA last year. We desperately need the competition back.
This is a great video, Zay. First time listening to you, but I'm a fan. I think you hit it on the head. I know the graphics are better in Madden 25, but the game seems DULL and BORING. I couldn't put my finger on what it was but you did an amazing job highlighting the inconsistencies and showing real footage to back up your claims . I had so much fun playing Madden in the 2000's, not anymore. I didn't know if it was because crappy gameplay or because I "outgrew" video games. I don't know if anyone feels this way.
I’ve said it for like 4 years now. I don’t even blame EA. They continue to make more money than ever on their football games. It’s not their fault. It’s not capitalism’s fault. They are doing what a business should; doing what sells. Customers really truly need to stop buying these games if they want to make a difference, and stop convincing yourself every year that some mediocre “new” feature they re-added is going to be a real QOL booster. Only way things change is if they see a significant decline in sales, else they have no choice but to do, as it seems to the executives who look at the bottom line, what the customer evidently wants. The last Madden I bought was 20, and I remember that being MANY people’s “last straw” until it wasn’t a year later. Get a grip. Most of you have spent hundreds of dollars since then on something you know won’t satisfy you, and you don’t even have the excuse of calling it an addiction like gambling is.

I bought every Madden from Madden Football in 1993 to 2013. I was a faithful customer. One thing I noticed, we kept getting the same old crap, and features we liked we're taken out or changed. I haven't played in along time as you can see 2013 was the last game I bought. When I watched this video I was expecting to see the best, most advanced football game ever. I was highly disappointed. The AI is trash. The graphics aren't 10 years ahead of what I played last. $70 wtf! On top of that you have to buy packs?! With no guarantees? XP boosts that are pay to win. Micro transactions in Madden is a horrible idea. $70 should cover all content. There's a reason I stopped buying next gen consoles. My son and I play Nintendo Switch now. We are very happy with it, and I don't see myself changing.
My favorite Madden still Madden 96 with codes for all Madden team when I was in middle school and Madden 2005 franchise mode when you could edit all your create a players, and sign them all to 7 year contracts with 99 speed and acceleration.

This happened to me w a H2H game. 2 seconds left on the clock, my opponent throws an 70 yard bomb into the endzone, to a covered wide receiver and the DB just stands there and watched it happen, did absolutely nothing. I've seen this happen three times now. EA sucks!
Great video. Unfortunately, Madden's community isn't like that of other games, in the sense of it appealing to people that aren't strictly "gamers". When other games would face boycotts for terrible quality, Madden doesn't because the majority of the player base isn't an organized, online group of people. Because of that, it'll never get better. The bad blocking is the main reason I stopped playing madden at all. I can’t tell you how many times my fullback would run pass a linebacker to block a safety 15 yards away from the play. EA sucks!!!

I have not played Madden since about 2 or 3 years after NCAA 14. It's been a month since I've disconnected my PS and I truly feel like I'm done with modern gaming. Take me back to the 80's and 90's and I'll play again. The time I have freed up to focus on my other interests and endeavors has been awesome. I'm gonna keep walking down this path. There is no excuse in the world that justifies why these games come out with so many of these issues. I personally have said "enough is enough", and I would rather write poetry for an hour than play Madden for an hour. ....and by the way I did buy NCAA 25 and I was enjoying it for the most part if nothing else than just the nostalgia of it. ...but I was willing to put it down for good and absorb the price I put down for it.

ESPN 2k5 was my first football game at 10 years old. The game was so immersive, first I learned the rules, and then the history of greatest games. It had a modern feel with a crib and celebrity challenges. Football will never die but madden will.

Madden 25 doesn’t do small details well at all. To capture realism that the people want, you need to thing of the small things like the camera crew moving the camera towards the players like they’re actually going to take of a piture of them. Like you said the side lines are so dead in terms of atmosphere that it feels lazy and cheap. Also I hate that players like Daniel jones (who show very little emotion on the field) run out of the tunnels and jump up and down all energetic. Things like that take me out of it and lose my interest.
I honestly couldn’t have worded it myself. The players don’t act like themselves irl. The atmosphere of madden is always dry and boring. They make small barebone improvements and then expect people to praise them.

I love playing franchise and trying to rebuild teams as realistically as possible and it infuriates me how hard it is to enjoy. The dev regressions, shitty gameplay, terrible blocking, god awful zone coverage and bugs like the progressive fatigue just piss me off so much. I really hope the NFL is smart and doesnt renew their licence with EA like we saw with fifa and EA last year. We desperately need the competition back.
This is a great video, Zay. First time listening to you, but I'm a fan. I think you hit it on the head. I know the graphics are better in Madden 25, but the game seems DULL and BORING. I couldn't put my finger on what it was but you did an amazing job highlighting the inconsistencies and showing real footage to back up your claims . I had so much fun playing Madden in the 2000's, not anymore. I didn't know if it was because crappy gameplay or because I "outgrew" video games. I don't know if anyone feels this way.

I’ve said it for like 4 years now. I don’t even blame EA. They continue to make more money than ever on their football games. It’s not their fault. It’s not capitalism’s fault. They are doing what a business should; doing what sells. Customers really truly need to stop buying these games if they want to make a difference, and stop convincing yourself every year that some mediocre “new” feature they re-added is going to be a real QOL booster. Only way things change is if they see a significant decline in sales, else they have no choice but to do, as it seems to the executives who look at the bottom line, what the customer evidently wants.
The last Madden I bought was 20, and I remember that being MANY people’s “last straw” until it wasn’t a year later. Get a grip. Most of you have spent hundreds of dollars since then on something you know won’t satisfy you, and you don’t even have the excuse of calling it an addiction like gambling is.
Just think about the fact that we still don’t have a parade after winning the Super Bowl…

I bought every Madden from Madden Football in 1993 to 2013. I was a faithful customer. One thing I noticed, we kept getting the same old crap, and features we liked we're taken out or changed.
I haven't played in along time as you can see 2013 was the last game I bought. When I watched this video I was expecting to see the best, most advanced football game ever.
I was highly disappointed. The AI is trash. The graphics aren't 10 years ahead of what I played last. $70 wtf! On top of that you have to buy packs?! With no guarantees? XP boosts that are pay to win. Micro transactions in Madden is a horrible idea. $70 should cover all content.
There's a reason I stopped buying next gen consoles. My son and I play Nintendo Switch now. We are very happy with it, and I don't see myself changing.
My favorite Madden still Madden 96 with codes for all Madden team when I was in middle school and Madden 2005 franchise mode when you could edit all your create a players, and sign them all to 7 year contracts with 99 speed and acceleration.

This happened to me w a H2H game. 2 seconds left on the clock, my opponent throws an 70 yard bomb into the endzone, to a covered wide receiver and the DB just stands there and watched it happen, did absolutely nothing. I've seen this happen three times now. EA sucks!

Great video. Unfortunately, Madden's community isn't like that of other games, in the sense of it appealing to people that aren't strictly "gamers". When other games would face boycotts for terrible quality, Madden doesn't because the majority of the player base isn't an organized, online group of people. Because of that, it'll never get better. The money will keep flowing and EA will continue cutting corners
