- Residents in suburban Houston returned to their homes Thursday after evacuating from an ongoing natural gas pipeline fire. Officials say the case turned into a criminal investigation as they work to identify the remains found in the SUV that struck the pipeline. CBS News correspondent Janet Shamlian reports.

Houses are built too close to NaGa and Petroleum Pipelines. The pipeline will fight paying ANYONE for decades.
The laws protect these giant corporations most likely these people will get nothing.
😢 Prayers from Iowa.
Yeah that'll fix it, for sure. 😂
What is the criminal about the fire investigation , Is it against gas company or against the driver who passed away?
More like 2-3 hundred yards
Nothing good ever comes out of Texass 🤔
What perfect state do you live in?
true story
protective bollards would have prevented all of this.
For those that don't know bollards are metal posts that are anchored into the ground to protect from vehicle collisions.
True, though it was so far away from a road and already had a metal fence around it. I can understand why they didn't think it was necessary.
This was absolutely built back when this pipe was only dealing with the odd cow.
Gasoline Pipeline near me has metal and concrete bollards protecting almost everywhere pipelines are above ground, even in the middle of a soybean field.
@sandbridgekid4121 Interesting! Maybe that makes sense though, the chances of farming equipment hitting it have got to be pretty high, especially if the farmer switched to growing corn. High pressure petrol is particularly scary too, in previous disasters it's flooded down miles of terrain before finding an ignition source. Is there also a large concrete/gravel pad around it to stop crops encroaching on the valve and hiding it completely?
@@charmio Bollards and a 10 foot gravel moat.
a high end home with such a scenic view of the oil fields…lovely 😒
Insurance company denies claim to help their profits- sorry not covered!
It wasn't the pipeline company's fault that someone ran their vehicle across and parking lot, through a field, through a fence at high speed strait into a pressurized above ground pipe. stop making this out to be the pipeline company's fault.
Makes me think of people who build on the coast, a disaster waiting to happen. Was the development or the pipelines there first? Whichever it was, why was the other then allowed to be built so close?
mad driver?
I don't believe you. SHow me the remains in the car.
Exactly, definitely radio controlled
Why does this need a conspiracy to explain it?
@@Justin_Beaver564 They thrive on conspiracies. God forbid the conspiracy is ever anti their interests though.
Energy companies know exactly what they are doing. There is no need to regulate them.
God has magical plan for them. Thoughts and prayers 😊
Cool thats how you get rid of a pipeline
