If that SUV did that thru the fence from Walmart's lot. WHY is the fence still standing every where except the main gate to the facility? The gate is the only thing that is knocked down. Sounds like Bull shit to me!!! That SUV drove thru the gate and hit that valve!!!! It didn't come from Walmart lot like they are saying! The fence isn't damaged any where except the road side gate!!!!Plus if you look close there are tire tracks in the dirt leading from the gate to where the SUV is sitting. NOT from the direction of Walmart lot. Why you people LIE? my question is why in the hell is there 20 miles of pipe with out a shut off valve??? do you People think its wize to only have valves 20 to 30 miles apart??? Hell no its not!!!! every 5 or 10 miles there needs to be one so they can shut off the gas before and after a rupture like this!!!!!! Plus its a SUV that crashed the gate and caused this???? It didnt come from Walmart lot the fence isnt damaged on that side! The SUV is facing Walmart not away from it!
Okay, so, firstly the car is not sitting where it stopped after hitting the pipeline, the car is sitting where it was thrown from the explosion after hitting the pipeline, tire tracks are irrelevant. I can't see the fence like you can obviously. But to also answer your other question, The idea of installing shutoff valves every thousand feet in pipelines is certainly a reasonable one for mitigating the impact of leaks or breaks. However, there are several reasons why this is not typically done: Cost: Installing shutoff valves at such frequent intervals can be prohibitively expensive. Each valve requires not only the device itself but also installation, maintenance, and monitoring. The cost of materials and labor can add up significantly, especially over long distances. Maintenance and Reliability: More valves mean more points of potential failure. Each valve requires regular maintenance to ensure it operates correctly when needed. If valves are too close together, the maintenance burden increases, potentially leading to a higher chance of malfunction. Operational Complexity: Frequent shutoff valves can complicate the operation of the pipeline. Operators must monitor and manage a larger number of valves, which increases the complexity of the control systems and can lead to operational inefficiencies. Pressure Management: Pipelines are designed to operate under specific pressure conditions. If shutoff valves are too close together, the sudden changes in pressure when a valve is closed can cause stress on the pipeline and potentially lead to further issues. Regulatory Standards: Pipeline safety regulations often dictate where and how many valves need to be installed. While many pipelines do have shutoff valves, they are typically placed based on risk assessments, geographical considerations, and regulatory guidelines rather than at uniform intervals. Technology Improvements: Advances in technology, such as remote monitoring systems and leak detection technology, are increasingly being used to detect leaks quickly. These systems can provide real-time data, allowing operators to respond to leaks without needing as many shutoff valves. In summary, while having shutoff valves every thousand feet could theoretically limit the impact of leaks, practical considerations around cost, maintenance, operational complexity, pressure management, and existing regulatory frameworks often lead to a more strategic placement of valves in pipeline systems.
The fence isnt even breeched along walmart side! Plus why if the case was car going slow till got over there then acellerated after??? Why are there tire tracks from the gate directly to where the car hit then got thrown there? Its bull shit it dont add up.
why are there no regulations requiring explosive things such as this to have barriers that are significant enough to stop vehicles of any size. it is unacceptable. especially because it sounds as if this was an accident, possibly even a medical emergency. all they needed were concrete barriers. unacceptable.

I sold all kinds of pipe, valves and fittings for natural gas pipeline for 40 years. There should be multiple ways of shutting that gas off!!!
She was HITTING THE PIPE when she hit the pipe.
Maybe it was somebody who was tired of living. Did the Kamikaze drive. I had a friend of mine who loaded up his car with gas cans and went out in a blaze of glory. And I still wonder I saw the guy 3 days before he took himself out and he seemed to be normal😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
I had a friend do that as well. Drove out to a barren field and set her car on fire. She had been battling cancer. She was also a Licensed Professional Counselor, which made it even more shocking.
Oh, it was just an old woman who got mixed up and kept pressing down on the accelerator pedal thinking it was the brake pedal, bless her heart. She panicked (bless her heart), couldn't think straight, and kept pressing down her foot because she couldn't think of anything else to do (bless her heart). Those fences and bushes she drove through just confused and panicked her more (bless her heart). I wonder if she understood her mistake before she burned to death (bless her burnt heart). Of course, no one is responsible for this incompetent person still driving when they shouldn't be.
@@a.b.5372 ???
Okay, so, firstly the car is not sitting where it stopped after hitting the pipeline, the car is sitting where it was thrown from the explosion after hitting the pipeline, tire tracks are irrelevant. I can't see the fence like you can obviously.
But to also answer your other question, The idea of installing shutoff valves every thousand feet in pipelines is certainly a reasonable one for mitigating the impact of leaks or breaks. However, there are several reasons why this is not typically done:
Cost: Installing shutoff valves at such frequent intervals can be prohibitively expensive.
Fence isnt even broken on warmart side only thing broken was main gate!
Whats that pipeline feed? How much of a economic impact will it have hummm?
Bollards could have prevented this. So, what is the disposition of the person who was driving the SUV?
How horrible!! How do you know if the person who hit this wasn't having a heart attack or stroke?
Probably too busy shouting aloha snackbar!
Did the lady get out of the car 🚙??
She died. The car was incinerated. So no she did not.
Sad story.
The description doesn’t make sense was it someone dressed as an elderly person who jumped out??????
why are there no regulations requiring explosive things such as this to have barriers that are significant enough to stop vehicles of any size. it is unacceptable. especially because it sounds as if this was an accident, possibly even a medical emergency. all they needed were concrete barriers. unacceptable.
it's like the opening scene in Dawn of the Dead 2004 remake.
a new tourist attraction
To Waste, is Criminal 🔥🔥🔥
How to turn it off this is the QUESTION ?
It’s been cut off. But it has to burn the rest of the product (natural gas) in the line.
Valves too infrequent for dense area.
That'll buff out
Wow first thought is why the pipeline didn’t have barriers for r other safety measures in place especially when located by roads and public areas.
The company: Energy Transfer
The President: Kelcy L. Warren
No barriers
No bollards
No secondary shut off valves
No excuse
The lawsuit filed against Greenpeace in August.
could it be a self driving tesla?
Did they find someone in the car?
There is a giant fire next to it that is melting a metal pole as well. You think they are going to go to that car and burn alive?
Maybe it was terrorism.
Bingo a number of countries think they're at war with us. Spin doctors working overtime...
Why would an apparent minor accident set a pipeline on fire?? Seems sketchy
You think it's sketchy that natural gases burn? For real?
Entire gas facility protected by a fence.
The kind that they don't use to guard a Prison, a Playground, a Parking, ....
You believe me don'tcha!?
This proves that fences are not needed. Let anyone in, including a high pressure gas pipline valve (except the white house of course).
sped up after crashing into vegetation AND a fence? Was their a dummy in the car or an actual person? Was the person suic!da! or was it a dummy and the car being driven remotely? These news updates are pathetic.
WTH wrong with the sound and speed?!?!
Did Howard get his discount ?
Hasn't anyone noticed it's an Electric Car, no exhaust on the rear bumper!!
Just when gas prices are coming down and this!
Police and firemen were able to get fast food in a large variety while on scene.
So you're saying this was inevitable? Lovely.
How does a valve for a pipeline with this much gas, under pressure, not have adequate barrier protection from auto accidents ? Inexcusable and negligent !
There are even plants in the LaPorte/Deer Park area making dangerous products with nothing but a chain link fence between a road and one of their reactors. So that is your answer I guess.
where is another shut off valve?
RIP
Hmm… it’s almost like… gas prices may be rising after that. There’s going to be a “shortage”
This wasn't gasoline, but there is what they call "natural gasoline" in this mix - so not well refined. But they will use any excuse I guess.
Sabotage!
We do it to our enemies and they do it to us!
Seriousl??? TX doesn't require safety guards around these things? Talk about negligence. I sure hope Energy Transfer gets their claim for this denied.
Why is this so close to homes and shopping center??
Better question should be why those houses were built so close to the pipeline? I'll bet the pipeline is older.
Did the driver die?
Old drivers are impaired drivers. There is no excuse for this. Drivers should be held accountable. AND their parents. A 2-ton vehicle is a weapon whether it's used by a terrorist or a drunk.
