I loved your list!
While I have not read Midnight Secretary, the two other picks would also be my second and first pick, respectively.
Both mangas I first read in 2003, basically growing up with the characters by my side and I love, love, love them both!
They are a great inspiration for me and while Touru inspires me to be a better person (even if that sometimes means listening to your friends' worries is all you can do), Kyouko shows me what determination looks like over and over again. She is a true hero(ine).
If I had to pick a third place, it would be Basara from the manga of the same name. She is also flawed but strong and undergoes a super inspirational character growth.

Thank you!! It's great to hear other people love Skip Beat and Fruits Basket. I grew up with Fruits Basket too 😊 It definitely makes you think about what other people are going through and how that affects their behaviour. And yes, Kyouko is awesome 😆
I have wanted to read Basara for so long! But buying volumes has been a no go as they're out of print. I wish they'd reprint them, the main character sounds great 😃
