Performances on the pedal piano would have had better clarity/clearer articulation - something the composer himself preferred. Not sure of the recording itself - my first instinct is Kevin Boyer. This recording would then suffer the same problem his recording of op. 64 did - he had the mics at the pipe cabinet - best to mic the room. Furthermore, we know that Franck registered some of Alkan’s works from opp. 64 and 66; such registrations don’t appear to have been used - a pity, really.
