Excellent talk. Informative. Slow and clear speech so that others can follow. To the point. No blah.blah. A lot of medical videos are blah-blahing unnecessary matters and too fast to be useful. Altogether, I would give Excellent rating to your video.
And to follow your very legit comment,: Do Not Miss The Message here from this wise Chairman Professor fromT he U of Toledo: "If you find a pt. with Fxs that are not healing well, or Fxs from low energy trauma, where you find osteoporosis, this is the time to get 25-Vit D blood test" You see, I totally agree here --- because... it doesn't mean to run the test automatically in the w h o l e adult population of a country , like they do here in the USA, where I am... I'm just saying...
thank you doctor for the informative video .Although i have 3 questions to ask about vitamin D the first is, What is the best time for sun exposure? second, Why do some people who working under the sun all day " Such as soldiers and Animal herders" suffer from vitamin D deficiency? and last question is, Is it true that the body intentionally to reduce the levels of vitamin D in the human body and therefore it is wrong to give vitamin D to these people ?
Can I answer a few of these? 1. According to Dr Ebrahiem's video, 15 minutes of sunshine daily can equal 10,000 IU 2. Absorption via sunlight relies on many factors, mostly amount of skin exposed. We in medical professsion advise on use of sunscreen and covering body to avoid possible skin cancer, so the type of clothing will play a factor in exposure. I have sons in military, and they are usually covered with long sleeves and pants when on duty. Also, amount of melonin in the skin effects absorption. I also feel that the latitude of place of residence, as people who spend part of their winters in Florida seem to have better "natural" levels than those who spend year round here in Indiana. I have no study to support this, but it is something I have seen in my practice. As to your 3rd question, I am assuming you are saying if one takes a supplement, then the body is going to convert less of the available inactive 25 into the Active 1-25, but I could be wrong about the question. That one, I have not heard and would like to know your source as I am very interested in reading up on that aspect/claim.
