the only thing that I didn't like was the "look brienne, Renly" it's a bit cartoonesque like for her to fall for this. If jaime simply said "I Know about Renly..." and it made Brienne confused and it was enough to take her by surprise would be more realistic, also Jaime could end saying "and how you wanted to be his kinguard. A Kingsguard need to be a knight. I Can't give you renly back, but I can knight you, and maybe one day you can become a kingsguard better than I was"
Honestly, the whole play-fight knighting scene was dumb. And Jaime could not defeat Brienne. And the crowd is supposed to cheer when he just beat her unconscious?
@@jerrysstories711 because its at odds with what society expects of her. Brienne definitely wants it. She's said so, but inversely she owes her father the same loyalty and fealty that anyone in their world would. And that's ignoring the fact that Brie and her father legitimately love one another. Heck, he offers to immediately pay her ransom when she and Jamie were captured and Jamie feels a bit bad about his lie and how they wouldn't accept the ransom because they thought the Sapphire Isles produced sapphires. Unlike most noble houses, Brie and her father actually love and value one another and her becoming a knight makes it less likely that she'll find a husband or have heirs to take over their house.

It's funny how little Arya's list is brought up in the later seasons. In fact, I don't think it is ever brought up post-season 4, except for the one time Bran mentions it in season 7. It used to be a MAJOR plot element in the earlier seasons. Seriously, the show's first 4 seasons feel like a completely different show than the last 4 seasons.
they mention it a lot in season 5. Twice in season 7 that I can recall. And I think once in season 8 the Hound asks Arya if Beric is still on her list.
Because GoT is not about getting what you want. it's about doing things in a smart matter that would make sense for the characters to do. and it has to have balls
it's poetic that she missed her own knighting and the first knighting of a woman. reality vs what the folk tails will say. the book is focused on the former normally.
Ngl I think the knighting of Brienne was done far better in the show. The moment was perfect, Gwendoline Christie & Nikolaj Coster-Waldau's acting was amazing in that scene, especially the look on Brienne's face when she rises... The knighting of Brienne was literally the culmination of both hers & Jamie's character arc, it deserves a big moment imo. I just think that Preston's version was just underwhelming.

Everything but the Jaime/Brienne knighting scene was great. I think how the show did it was actually really well done, and I think it’s better it stayed like that. Just a sincere moment between 2 people, no violence involved.
gonna be honest. the part where Jamie knights Brienne in episode two is better than what you've described. other than that, everything else you said is perfectly done.
Not gonna lie, I think it would have been a lot more interesting if there was a chance Samwell stealing his father's sword had directly contributed to his father's death, because he was less good with an inferior sword, and died. Struggling with the idea possibly having caused his father's death, in a way, would have been interesting for his character, especially with their relationship history. Of course the whole point of this is that it has to start at the beginning of this season, not changing anything before that. But this is something I definitely wish Season 7 had done.
Loving these videos, keep it up! The one thing that didn't sit right with me, however, was Jamie claiming Brienne is a better knight than he was with both hands. I don't think - in the show OR the books - Jamie lost his god complex; no matter how much more down to earth he seems after losing his sword hand.
I disagree with you here. In both show and books the more Jamie distances himself from Cersei, the more humble he becomes. Being a knight isn't just being able to fight well, it is a matter of honor, especially to Jamie. Jamie has such respect for Brianne that I could definitely see him saying that.
This was an exciting listen from beginning to end. Until further notice, this serves in my head as twin-canon. I especially liked Ser Jorah saying, "When this battle is over, Danaerys, Samwell and I will fix this rift."
Man, is there a word for the depression one feels after watching a Preston Jacob's video and knowing what could have been? There's probably a word for it, probably in German..
I liked it very much, except for Brienne's knighting, as other people mentioned, and the talk about fathers. Randall Tarly was a horrible man, but Jeor Mormont was a decent man who was humiliated by his son who sold people into slavery, for god's sake. No way Jorah can be better than him. The best he can do is redeem himself.
It's June, 26, 2021, and I JUST discovered your GOT S8 fixes Preston... They are amazing! Even though it's been 2 years since D&D desTROYED the former Masterwork that was GOT, (starting, IMHO, with S7)... I still feel the loss of what could have... should have been. And with your S8 Fixes, we are presented with an ACTUAL story that makes sense, is well conceived and so far, SO much more satisfying (I just finished S8, Part 2). I think you should submit these as story scripts to HBO to let them know a good writer is out here ... they may need other competent writers to help out on the Prequels in progress. Kudos Mr. Jacobs, WELL DONE.. and THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!!
Before falling asleep i just put on your season 8 fix video, close my eyes, slowly start to see the scenes in front of me and i imagine that this is a retelling of the actual season 8. For me Preston, your version is canon

Not a victory but a major, major setback. That's a hell of an understatement. They just got f*cked in the ass! I love this scenario, by the way. The living winning at Winterfell always seemed off to me. I wish the show had been 10 seasons long; the war against the Night King could have easily gone on for two seasons, with the dead getting south all the way to Kings Landing.
No! Not my boy Tormund! Let me guess, all the people just killed will be wights in the next episode and that will serve some story function? I'm so loving this re-write Preston!
one thing i just realized is that there was the perfect excuse/scene for bran not skinchaning into the dragons. i would say we all anticipated it and then the show acted like it's not a thing. bran and daenerys should have had a talk where they also mention their super powers. bran then would show dany how he skinchanges an animal (ravens, wolves or what i would have done a new direwolf), he then would say watch this, as he tries to skinchange one of the dragons but oddly it would not work. daenerys then would repeat the line "a dragon is not a slave" and all the people getting off on foreshadowing would have lost their minds.

Seems more like "How I Would Throw Out Season 8 and Start Over"
@@aramfingal5180 They really need to throw out all of S5-S8 and the particularly destructive episodes of S2 and S4, and then start over.
Give it to the mad king
I panicked for a sec when you said Jorah was leading the Cavalry lol
Not gonna lie, I think it would have been a lot more interesting if there was a chance Samwell stealing his father's sword had directly contributed to his father's death, because he was less good with an inferior sword, and died. Struggling with the idea possibly having caused his father's death, in a way, would have been interesting for his character, especially with their relationship history.
Of course the whole point of this is that it has to start at the beginning of this season, not changing anything before that. But this is something I definitely wish Season 7 had done.
Anne Davis lol i had the same idea and actually expected it while watching season 7.
@@Daemonnoob good thing they "subverted our expectations," huh? 🙄
I have often castigated you for your book smugness. But this is a great retelling of the story.
Maybe but there is a perfect word to describe D&D's last season: Kuddelmuddel.
Why'd you make the battle images so dark? Oooh, wait... I see what you did there.
I love your idea for Brienne's knighting. Light-hearted and funny but also sincere
Damn this sounds so much better I'm actually fuming. The white walkers actually do something in your version, and are actually important and detrimental to the story. I like where your version is going. Please release the rest as soon as you can!
I know that you are trying to write a book.. but have you ever considered trying to write a TV show from a book adaptation??
Just when the delivery boy arrived. This is turning into a lovely evening.
Was Little Sam carrying 'bottled water'?
Taking coffee orders. He's a part time barrista on the side. Kids like 18, right?
I love your version of knighting Brienne.
It actually made me tear up. Wish the show had yours instead of what it actually used.
I think I would have kept the original Brienne knighted scene as it was arguably the best scene in season 8.
Looking forward to PJ theory videos incorporating information and details from Fire & Blood.
War of the Raven part 4 is going to be good. His best vid is the end of a Mind of Wolves and Robbins imo
No! Not my boy Tormund!
Let me guess, all the people just killed will be wights in the next episode and that will serve some story function?
I'm so loving this re-write Preston!
I liked the show's version of Jaime knighting Brienne more.
The greatest fan fiction ever!
please do not stop, this is more satisfying than the actual finale!
Had almost forgot about this show , damn you Preston!
This video was more tense than the entirety of season 8.
Thanks for filling the void that season 8 left! You are the MVP Preston!!
Wow, very engaging. Get this man a screenwriting gig.
one thing i just realized is that there was the perfect excuse/scene for bran not skinchaning into the dragons.
i would say we all anticipated it and then the show acted like it's not a thing.
bran and daenerys should have had a talk where they also mention their super powers.
bran then would show dany how he skinchanges an animal (ravens, wolves or what i would have done a new direwolf), he then would say watch this, as he tries to skinchange one of the dragons but oddly it would not work. daenerys then would repeat the line "a dragon is not a slave" and all the people getting off on foreshadowing would have lost their minds.
Dude just submit your script to HBO. If they see how good it is. We might get a GOT 2.0 finale
