    Do you need to cook? Filter and or tabs should cover you for water and some snack bars should do the trick. But a foam sleep mat, cut to torso length, is a must have in my book. On my recent two day mountain hike I did not even bring a lighter 🤷🏻‍♂️

      Yeh, after making the video i decided to take the pot out. I replaced it with a metal water bottle. Thanks for your continued support.

    That is the same backpack as my son has as his “in the car” bag.

      Its been a good bag. I used it for my "hunting bag" before it was demoted to "get home bag. " Lol

    Zip ties are very versatile and I would keep those with some duck tape. I wrap tape around my water bottle. I lived on one of those bars on a weekend hiking trip not terrible but have lots of water ha

    Wise move keeping the hammock. Being able to get a good comfortable nights sleep is not a luxury.it helps you do everything else better. Looks like you have enough in there for a short term scenario in a warm environment. Staying warm would obviously be my main concern up here.

    i know the whole idea of watching weight...but never sacrifice safety. as far as the pot, i would drop that and go with a smaller canteen cup. smart on keeping the bigger first aid kit, the repair kit i would probably switch out to a smaller one if you could find. but it is very important to review your gear often

    Why do you need to boil water if you already have a water filter & you're not cooking food? I'd ditch the mess kit/ folding stove & keep the duct tape & tiewraps.
    Take you first aid kit out of the metal can & put it in a pouch. Metal is heavy.
    Take a pill bottle fill it with bleach " couple drops can purify water" seal the top with electrical tape so it doesn't leak. Couple wraps of duct tape around the bottle.
    I would trim down your fire kit. Bic lighter,Ferro rod, cotton balls & Vaseline.
    Ditch the flare, get an emergency whistle & an orange pack cover. Sight & sound & it the cover will water proof your pack?
    Just some tips I use.
    Excellent video. 5 lbs is ALOT.
    grams = ounces =pounds= pain.

    15lb was not bad but you did have stuff that was not that useful... The hammock is multi use thus a good item.
