@@janesays1278 lol these are all excellent movies. If I recall “murder by death” starred the legendary David Niven? I’ve got a very fond spot for the version of “Around the World in 80 Days” he was in. And I honestly love Mel Brookes “Young Frankenstein” starring Gene Wilder. One of the best comedies ever made. I watch it at least once a year…
I don't know what crappy movies you are watching but there are some incredible Australian movies going all the way back to the beginning of the 20th century. New zealand films have come of age in the last 20 years which is fantastic. But comparing the 2 is weird as the Australian film industry has been going as long as hollywood. And I wouldn't compare the output of theirs to Australia. I am really looking forward to this film and as an Aussie it is always about good storytelling that makes me love a film. Perhaps you should educate yourself in Australian films before you say irrelevant things like that!
I normally watch fantasy or sci fi movies. But I would watch this. I can relate to the kid on several levels. I'm an Indigenous Person with no other IP's around me except for my kids. I was a nerd in school up until my junior & senior years when I was a rocker and joined a few bands. Rockers have each other's backs. So for me, that was like his Drama club. And I played football so the Jocks were cool with me too. This trailer brought all that back. Good times.
Watching this preview I felt like I was receiving a gift from someone who loves me very much. There is such a great feeling of inclusion that makes me feel like I am a part of the narrative, like paintings can sometime make me feel. Everything is pieced together so well as if is in its perfect place. I am so grateful it’s being shared.
It really speaks to his talent that I'm probably most excited to see Julian Dennison in this when he's surrounded by an absolute stellar cast. He's really something special.
Why do they have to portray Maori as one dimensional victims of history, why not give them a more nuanced portrayal? Like showing Maori both supporting and opposing the tour, just like there was in real life. Both having their reasons for where they stand and neither side necessarily being right or wrong
Gotta say, Julian Dennison is one of my faves and I think he is under rated. His acting abilities seem deeper than the roles he portrays. Excited to see this one. Throw a bit of Rhys Darby on top, Uproar may be in the top 3 of 2023.
I remember watching the Hunt for The Wilder People and thinking Julian was going to be working a lot after that. Next thing I know he's in Dead Pool and I was not surprised. He and Taika are an incredible combination.
uhhhh... ever heard of Flight of the Concords? What We Do In the Shadows? Our Flag Means Death? Rhys Darby is the best known Kiwi actor not counting Taika...
The Maori slave keeping cannibals that completely geocoded the Moriori people get a movie where they get to play the victim. Ah, Hollywood. Why are there no movies about the Moriori genocide?
Maori ate everyone. Moriori, Pakeha, other Maori. Two thirds of my Hapū were eaten at the siege of Hakakino in 1821. Moriori are not special or unique in that regards.
Yay... Julian Dennison! Huge fan after his performance in The Hunt for the Wilder People. 👌
Ricky Bay-kah, Ricky Bay-kah! Haha.
Nice to see that me and my older brother aren't the only people that has seen that amazing story.
The who-der people?
He’s huger.
I sing this so randomly and often.@@LETRONZ
came for rhys darby but I stayed because this genuinely looks good!!!
Nigel billingsley.
I love that we have both Julian Dennison and James Rollerston in this. Both rightfully given the spotlight in Taika Waititi films.
afterall who's this Rhys Darby guy right? 😂
As an Aussie I really hate having to admit that Kiwis usually make movies waaaaay better than we do… this actually looks awesome 👍🏻
Do you have any good reccos for movie night? Mine are My Cousin Vinny, Some Like It Hot, and Murder by Death.

And the best Aussie movies usually have some sort of Kiwi connection; Russell Crowe, Sam Neil, Jane Campion, John Clarke...

I'm glad this made you feel cherished and included. Everyone needs to see themselves reflected back to them in a loving and understanding manner.
Wow. I'm shallower than a puddle. That comment was deeper than my whole life.

Rhys and Julian! Can’t wait to watch it! 🤍
This looks amazing! Also, when are the Kiwis going to address the fact that they hosted Pablo Matera at the 'Crusaders' for a season?
I'm glad to see this. I really enjoyed Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
Looks really good. ❤

I remember watching the Hunt for The Wilder People and thinking Julian was going to be working a lot after that. Next thing I know he's in Dead Pool and I was not surprised. He and Taika are an incredible combination.

High school student James Rollerston and high school mom Minnie Driver both look 42 somehow.
