The MkII wasn't made for the general public. It was always a niche vehicle for the ultra-rich. It accomplished its purpose and is considered one of the most desirable vehicles ever produced.

The retractable hard top might be a good idea, if Ford was targeting a wealthy buyer who could afford the price of this option, which, to be reliable would need to be well made, and cost as much, or more than the price of the car. Like the quality of a military weapon. Those retractable roofs, the GM Corvair and the Ford Mercury Cougar were carbage.

How about a few more words besides stupid (poor design), strange (odd, peculiar, curious, bizarre) A little better writing here could go a long way....

That Cadillac looks like a 58. But sometimes the old body style is carried forward on some models

Might help to have the correct vehicle for the comments, the Ford Anglia shown is the later version. The one described is the Harry Potter one

If these cars were all to be introduced in the 1930's or perhaps 1940's they might have been somewhat successful cars. But due to varied and diversified reasons they wereintroduced in the 1950's and ultimately became unsuccessful.😮

The Plymouths weren't strange or stupid and they sold very well leading Chrysler into it's best sales growth since the 1930s. The Eldorado Broughan was successful enough to still be sold into the nineteen seventies. In the fifties, it was too expensive and exclusive to sell like Chevvies but that didn't make it unsuccessful. It was very much a state of the art success. The MkII was another exclusive halo car that achieved it's own kind of success. The El Camino was sold for thirty years and the concept is still built in Australia and as such has been very successful. The Anglia was an import which leaves the Edsel as one of the two cars in this video that fits the title.

I'm afraid your characterization of certain vehicles as "stupid" is off putting, and I find particularly offensive. There certainly ARE some vehicles that were stupid designs, the AMC Gremlin and Pacer as well as the Pontiac Aztek come to mind. I think some education on your part would go a long way to understanding the purpose behind the vehicles you are denigrating.

Did the person who produced this video know anything at all about cars? The Eldorado shown is not a '59, it's a '57. Regarding the Dodge truck, what fins? I don't see any fins on that truck. I found one using Google, but if you're going to talk about a specific model, you should show that model, not something else. The Continental Mk II was not strange or stupid. It's an American automotive legend, a rare hand built car from Detroit intended for only filthy rich customers for whom exclusivity was a primary selling point; the ultimate halo car with styling that presaged the famous 1961 Continental. What is the El Camino doing on this list? It's not strange or stupid. The concept was successful enough to be built for thirty years and is still built in Australia. The Plymouth Fury. The model shown and described is the '59 but "Christine" was a '58. The '59 Fury was a big seller, not at all stupid or strange. It was fashionable for the time. It was not a heavy car in the idiom of the time. It was not an icon of fifties excess, that would be the 1959 Cadillacs. Henry J. Right, it's stupid and strange. You finally got one right. Unfortunately, you describe the original release with no trunk lid but show a model that DOES have a trunk lid. The 1959 AND 1958 Plymouth? The 1958 was, at the time, an annual update of the cutting edge stylish as well as technologically leading edge 1957. They also sold very well. That 1957 series Plymouth design turned Chrysler into a maker of stylish and desirable cars virtually overnight. And THREE mentions of Christine now? Plus you mentioned "Christine" incorrectly with the 1959. Why is the Ford Anglia included on this American car list? It's an import. And again, the model shown is not the reverse backlight model described, nor do you note Ford importing them as early as 1948. The Edsel is stupid and strange and one of the only two cars that belong on this list.

Okay then! So now, while narrating a video of "American" cars, we have an Artificial Intelligence bot with a "British" accent? Just another example of the pre-school infancy (at best!) of this so-called smart AI tech-bro gruel... One of the few reasons I can be happy I'll soon be dead!

AI repeating the same point over and over. Irritating. 59' ElCamino should not be on this list.
