Great video! My goats hate getting wet too! They love a good shelter to get away from bad weather
The Chicken tractor shelters are a great idea. i like them. And they are portable. And the goats like to climb on them.
Even though the goat kids do love to play on them and jump all over we have found that they hold up extremely well. If you are interested in building them the tutorials I made are free and in the description of the video.
I will check out the tutorials. I may build a couple of them for my goats.
Goats are my favorite!! We don’t have any yet on the farm, but we are planning towards them! Our experience is that they love to escape, we may need to try the netting...
The powerfields netting has just worked so well for us. I think that we have four lengths of netting but if you only bought two lengths that would be enough! Thanks so much for watching.
Often lumber yards throw away the wrap they use to wrap bundles of lumber wonder how that would hold up? Also wonder what roofing felt/tar paper would do? Would goats eat it...toxic?
I know the wrap that you're talking about. Hadn't even thought of using that and I think that would do really well. Also I think you would really want to check on other materials and if they are toxic for animals to nibble/eat on. Goats are know very well to chew on anything and although it seems as though all they want to do is jump on it now I am sure they will chew into it later. I know though that if you are rotational grazing and have them on great feed it reduces the need for them to want to chew on everything. So far so good on this structure!
well done, thank you, I have a property that could really use goats. more goats, poop, trampling = less tractors , noise, gas and organic soil.
so simple ye we overthink things too often!
Is there anyway the farming/goat videos can be put in their own channel, separate from the piano videos??? I'd like to subscribe to the former without getting the latter videos in my feed.
I hear you. We used to be a homestead channel and have now moved to being a piano tutorial channel. I know this is confusing and may in the future change to having two separate channels. Really sorry about this. We don’t plan on continuing to do the homesteading videos on this channel either so you may just want to look in the archives and find what interests you. Hope this helps and thanks for enjoying those videos.
How does this do to protect from predators like coyotes? Do you also have a LGD?
I would think that coyotes could get into any fencing if they’re sneaky and talented ;) which they are. We do have a Great Pyrenees dog too. We don’t have big coyote problems here though.
Do you tag your goats? I don't see any on their ears?
Was that song by jose gonzalez?
Not sure. I get my music from epidemic sound.
How much area are u grazing your goat rotationally
Its right about 112 feet square.
