Just played this game for the first time as Duke Nukem and it was AWESOME!!! Like you, I immediately upped the difficulty and replayed on OVERKILL mode. A+ game all around
I bought this game back in 2011 mainly because you got Gears of War 3 beta access if you bought it on Xbox 360, I still played it and had fun with the game though. I just replayed it and was reminded with all the issues I had with the game. I think what they did when they made this game is that they were given Gears of War from Epic Games, the engine and everything and then made their own game out of it but in first person. They reused the running mechanic from Gears of War which feels awful in first person perspective, they also reused the slow mantle over objects which also feels off and no jumping mechanic. The levels are very linear and almost on rails. Even the characters look like Gears of War characters. It's a shame they didn't make the game more similar to Painkiller. In Painkiller you have better movement, you can bunny hop around and you feel like you can move more freely. In painkiller you also don't have to reload which makes the game faster. Also regenerating health feels out of place in this game, taking cover in gunfights just doesn't feel right, it would have been better with health pickups like in Painkiller in my opinion. This game is still very fun though, in some moments it's brilliant even. Also 9:08 Wow I had the exact same thought about the "weaker jokes" ...I rolled my eyes at the two jokes you mentioned when I heard them again replaying this. It reminds me of the common bad jokes that the Borderlands series has which many people praise as good and funny writing for some reason.
2024. I’m still playing this game. Matter fact I played it two days ago. I have to do a private match and play alone because there’s nobody online but this game was a fucking head of its time and I have both additions the original and the Duke one bought this shit twice it was so good.
Love this game. I try telling younger gamers how much idiotic, puerile fun this is, but they'd rather be playing Fortnite or suchlike. If only they knew the simple joy of this extremely silly FPS campaign...
This was the first and only game I've ever pre-ordered. And it was one of the most fun single player shooters i had ever played. I still rank it in my top 5 for pure fun. And it's so original and i don't understand why no one has taken what they did with the gun play and put it in another game. Doom kinda did i guess with its mod swapping but that was like Bulletstorm Lite. Naw using an entire mag to unload a fireball into someones face, guiding a sniper round as you watch your target try and run out of the way as you shove death right up his ass. Hell just kicking someone into a bed of spikes or into exposed electric wires, trying to juggle targets in the air with your bullets!? Come on, how is this not a franchise?
I was already an adult when this game came out and it was a breath of fresh air. FPS games at the time where mostly slow, "realistic", boring affairs I was growing tired off. I loved Timesplitters, Red Faction, but after that it all become boring and drab. Untill this glorious shot in the %$3....
My boy is back. Y'all need to snailmail your paychecks to PBJ to keep him around.
Yeah, huge shame this never got a sequel. Super enjoyable.
the skillshot system is such a genius idea I'm amazed it hasn't been copied a bajillion times already. Man Bulletstorm is a fun game....
Necrovision had this feature before Bulletstorm came out.
Funny enough, Necrovision was made by same people who made Painkiller.
@@-.MICHAEL.- first I've ever even heard of that game tbh....Painkiller sounds vaguely familiar though
@@newageBoundhippie Bulletstorm and Painkiller were made by the same people - "People Can Fly"
@@-.MICHAEL.- I figured that much out....wtf is Necrovision?
@@newageBoundhippie Just watch some gameplay videos, or better yet, the official trailers
the vr one is not shite now
I just had my brother start playing bulletstorm lastnight, and he's definitely dug it so far.

Got it on sale recently for five bucks and damn I wish I played this years ago it's a lot of fun and a breath of fresh air from all the bullshit.

Give the VR version a chance. They patched it and its now so much fun.
You better try decent games in VR and you'll understand why it is a huge deal. They also updated Bulletstorm VR which I heard is good now

FPS were always a stall and boring for decades. VR shooter is a lot more to life improvement than flatscreen can ever get
Awesome!
Just got it for £3 from Xbox store really great game
I’m first. Bow to me.
