My best friend was on soul train in this particular video, I remember her telling me that she was going on soul train years and years ago. I just happen to be strolling down soul train memory lane watching the old videos and there to my surprise she is dancing down the soul train line. She has since passed away and I miss her soooooooooooo much. Always in my heart true friend.
That's me at @0:46 at 18 years old Freshman in College, doing the dance called "The Patty Duke". Everytime a song by The Commodores was played on Soul Train we enjoyed every second of it!
One of the best dance songs ever. I used to perform this in one of the bands I was in. I was the only white guy in the band of 8 members. Some of my favorite memories. I was the drummer in that band. Now, 18 years later, I dance to this song, waist deep in my Florida pool. Then I go inside, put it on my headphones, and let it rip again on my electronic drumset.
OooOo😀 aren't you just too hot too trot ~i might honestly have a thang for a pretty girl in glasses👓🤔but I already know u at Least marginally have good taste in music. . . 🦊🚬~i also have impeccable taste.💋
My neice had to be showed instead of just told. All these years telling her that showing the crack of her behind and always bout to lose her boomchakalaka's wasn't nowhere near sexy as a sharp outfit. Three shades of purple coming down that line made her say "damn Unc, I get it now". Told you.....make a Brother"s imagination work and you'd be surprised at what we'll do for y'all.
It depended on who it was that was dancing. There were certain girls that could really get down during this era. Pay attention to other lines during this era, and you will see what I mean. High heels are not a deterrent for the ones who can DANCE. Watch the early seasons, the girls wore high heels then too, platform heels, and STILL danced very well. But beginning around 1979 and moving forward, there was a change in it being so much about dance itself and more about the look. From 79 and into the 80s it was the era of 'The Beautiful People". Not really about dancing as much as how one looked. BUT pay attention to certain people during the dance segments...You will know who was there to dance. I won't name names. Just pay attention.

God bless her. Was she a regular? What was her name?
Which one was she? RIP ♡ I hope you have a lot of great memories.
Which dancer is she?
@@krystal1722 She's lying. Who tf is going to say what a "true friend" she was and not point out who she is in the video.
@@DeeJayRoyalT2 very nasty to "assume" that she’s lying!

Had to be 1977 because that's when the album COMMODORES LIVE came out and also when the movie THANK GOD IT'S FRIDAY came out too.
How come the men on soul train dance. Better then the girls on soul train..i womder why...huh.
Antonio Licona I believe the ladies are limited in their movements because of the high heels and can't really get down with them on!
Because THOSE men are ZESTY!
Beacause the ladies were ladies. your looking at women today..
