I'm ngl, I saw the trailer live and when the jeans white tee combo first showed up, I immediately thought it was Cody in his Final Fight outfit. Man, there are just too many cool characters not in the game yet to be doing double guest characters this early on.
It makes sense when you think about how sweet this deal is for SNK. Clearly they have a great negotiator, this is so much great awareness for them. Remember that just because we all know about FF doesn't mean casuals do, there still a lot of potential players that have never touched one. I'm pretty excited about Terry tbh, but I agree that Kyo/Iori would have been super sick.
As much as I will never be sad to see Terry, half the season being old school SNK characters is a bit much. I know the timing is probably to tie in with CotW, but I'd rather the crossover just be Rock since he's the actual main character of Garou.
This should have been season 5 or 6. MAYBE season 4. Im sorry, but they FUMBLED because people are pissed they have to wait even LONGER to use a character they want. Im sorry, but where is dudley? Viper? Necro? Q? Sodom? Rolento? Makoto? I honestly dont even care what character we get, I just dont want an SNK right now.
I know it's the internet, but the thing that is really annoying is the amount of people that are acting like criticizing this is completely ridiculous. Either you just want to hate the game, or you don't understand the significance or something. I owned Capcom vs SNK 2, I understand the history, and I still don't like this. Personally, I would prefer if they had continued to keep guest characters out but if it had been in a 6-character pass or if it had been done later, I wouldn't complain. That being said I understand how someone could be stoked about it, and I am sure they will do a great job designing the characters. I don't really care for the choices in the first pass either, but they still managed to nail all of them.
I’m in a similar boat when it comes to the SNK characters, it’s cool and all but the more I think of it, the more I’m like “ok so this season we are getting the Ryu and Chun Li of KOF?” That might sound like a dumb generalization of the two but they just don’t excite me the way returning veterans would, even though I recognize this is a big deal for SF, doesn’t help that they have normal designs too It’s just tough when you realize that it’ll be a whole year before we get any SFAlpha or Final Fight characters in this game
*a whole year before we get any SFA or Final fight characters in the game AGAIN. While s1 roster was great, it was mostly sf5 characters (3 if you include aki as a rework of fang). Because of this I thought that they were gonna do like a theme for each season, like a SFA season, SF3 season etc. But now we have to wait for another whole year again and its not even a guarantee that we'll get these other fan favorite characters. For all we know it could be another season of sf2 characters (sagat, vega, balrog, fei long) or MORE guest characters. 4 characters a year is already a let down but to add guest characters on top of that worsens it by a magnitude more. Especially when half of the current season pass are guest characters
Yeah I feel that, and I recognize that my main(ibuki) is pretty far down on the popularity charts, so I was settled for possibly a season 3 for her, and then maybe just 1 "cool to see" character in season 2 I'd main until then, like Makoto, C. Viper, Menat, maybe even if they would do something cool with Falke like they did with Ed. Now both of those seem even farther into the future.
I definitely agree that guest characters could have been saved for a later season when people are getting bored and we need a quick spark, but this is likely to partially align with City Of The Wolves and i could see SNK being the one to really push for 2025 if they allowed a collab at all. They want the marketing at a relevant time even more than Capcom. I only question releasing Bison so soon after Akuma. The latter was such an anticipated release and they could have let it simmer for a couple months. But no big deal. *edit* i also agree the elena complaints are overblown from sf4 players. Her healing paired with a meter that builds from getting beat up (ultra) was just a stupid concept from day 1. No one cared about healing in 3rd Strike, and she was good but not at all busted in SFxT. They can balance her better for 6. All of the Ultra characters in 4 were a rush job to make some money back off the sfxt assets and ended up poorly integrated, but most were fun.
I haven't even watched other creator reactions because I know what they're going to be and I don't feel the same, 4 characters is a letdown and only 2 of them being from SF is even more of a letdown. It changes how I feel about the whole game tbh.
Capcom making half of the season 2 roster guest characters genuinely scares me for the future passes. To do this so early just makes it seem like every pass following this is gonna have guest characters on it, and will just take slots away from characters that people have been dying to see come back (especially if they continue only doing 4 characters a pass) I really hope this will be a one-time thing just because of COTW coming out, I would be really disappointed if we miss out on characters from alpha/third strike/4 because capcom wants to put heihachi and kazuya in the game because crossover=profit
i pretty much agree with all your points. Terry and Mai is cool, but too early & too overdone (kyo or iori would be sick tho). I am also not even sure if terry and mai would bring in a new audience, like i thought guest character were supposed to bring in new people to the game, and i feel like the Fatal Fury/KOF community already share a lot with the street fighter community.
They should bring back Mika and Karin from SF5 who were in Alpha. Then add Sakura and Rose, Dan from SF5 who were also in Alpha to round out the roster + add SF4 Gen who was in Alpha as well.
I’m all little worried about what this means for future seasons, will every season be 50% guest characters until it morphs into something that is barely a street fighter game anymore?
@@alfredososa3059I mean when half of the street fighter DLC isn’t street fighter that does raise a few alarms. This definitely won’t be the last time we see guests in SF and it wasn’t the first time we got guests either.
@@alfredososa3059 Knowing people are already begging for more guests...Sorry but thats a legitimate fear to not want SF to become like MK. By announcing Terry and Mai (no matter how good they are, no matter how well they'll fit in every part of the game) they've opened a pandora box they'll never be able to close unless they straight up say "They will never be any more guests"
Don't worry, just enjoy the ride! Believe me Capcom won't make the Fatal Fury characters feel anything less than Capcom style. Remember Capcom Vs SNK (particularly 2)
Based take. Honestly one of my biggest gripes with the lineup is also that there are no completely new original characters. They have to have at least one in Y3 now but two might be a bit much unless they bump it up to 5 or 6 chars. Only 1 in y3 will be a shame tho because as much as I want fan faves, my fav characters in 6 have been the newcomers and 1 char over 2 years will be rough :\
The newcomers have been hitting out of the park in 6, and honestly after this season, seeing how glacially slow we're going to get the old faves, I'm looking forward to the newcomers more than the returning characters. There's going to be so few coming back from past games that I don't even want to think about it, anyone who's hoping for their main to come back imo is holding their breath over nothing. 60 characters and we get 2-3 per season, I don't want to set myself up for disappointment like that.
Guest characters just feel like cheap product placement to me. I find them really underwhelming. Maybe if they really incorporate Terry and Mai into the story and lore to make them like the "SF version" of the character then I could dig it, but it really is jarring when so many fan favorites are missing from the game.
I feel like they'll have to do something like that, since every single character is in World Tour with their own bits of story and dialogue. Not sure how they're gonna tie them in, though. I guess time will tell how well they seem to fit in the game and story
Partly why I like SF, is cause it didnt have crossovers. I liked that it was sef-contained. (Yes I know they had crossovers before, but they were Capcom properties and later just absorbed into SF anyway)
I kind of have to agree. They already established that JP wasn't the main antagonist thanks to Ed's story. It would make sense for the team to wait for Bison to come back in about two seasons at least. And speaking of Bison I honestly think they could have done a bit better by giving him a different, younger body because he's always obsessed with finding a replacement. That would give chills to characters like Chun Li and Cammy and make the story more interesting, but that's my opinion.
Ash? Ash isn't as popular as you guys are making him out to be, hes less known that a good chunk of the snk characters especially to the general public that want people to you know, actually buy the characters lol
My main is Cammy so I’m pretty much good when it comes to her being in base or DLC in SF but 2 guests in a 4 character season sucks still. It didn’t have to be both Terry and Mai in one season this early.
I absolutely agree with you, it's too early to get 2 guests out of 4 characters. There are so many fan favorites that didn't make it into 5 ffs... Everybody is screaming for Makoto, C. Viper... Freaking Dudley... I feel let down to be honest, they're showing that they aren't listening once again.
Here's the thing and I already mentioned about this a long time since SFV and is that CAPCOM is not bias on whether character is popular or not be added into Street Fighter. They would add the likes of Akuma but would also add E. Honda to the roster. And they are all stupid they're very aware of fans having several favs of characters but want to have to have diverse variety of them in the roster being both old & new characters.
@@Scarmiglione379 Nah, games don't have that kind of lifespan where you can intentionally ship a bucket of nonsense and hope that someone will stick around for season 4(!) when the characters you want are out. It's not marketing it's arrogance thinking well the CPT is there, so therefore there will be sales.
@@Scarmiglione379 Ah but you seem to forget that the game along with it's characters isnt just marketing to modern players but casuals that never play let alone heard of Street Fighter. And while characters like Dudely, Makoto & Bison are very popular most of those casuals wouldn't have a clue as to who they are or why they are so popular. Of course you also got to understand with their being percentage of the fanbase who loves these known popular characters, a few sum of other people would also like to see the less known characters return as well, aside from Elena theres also Necalli, Decapre, Rufus & others . Also as you pointed about King he was already a 2D character in a previous crossover game called Tekken X Street Fighter, but that game had gotten a bad reputation for it's marketing & gems. And even as popular as King is in Tekken, EL Feurte is more likely to be better in that regard for how he was in SF4. Also also as for mentioned SF5 had a ton of characters leading up to the end but non of the other popular characters like Dudley, Makoto, C.Viper, etc made it in that game. And despite the start of SFV almost being a failure came around to be good again despite other favorites didn't made it in and I expect SF6 would be that case where if even Sakura gets in but Sean won't.
Only 18 characters in the starting roster (mostly new or from SF II at that) really exacerbates the problem of 4 characters per year. With half the season 2 characters being guests, we’ll be 3 years into the lifespan of the game having barely added the majority of long term fan favourite characters. I’d wager that Sagat &/or Sakura are a shoe in for season 3. Who’s to say the devs don’t want to add a new character or another collab also? ~ which is completely fair btw, they’re doing an amazing job with the quality of the SF characters. It means that it’s likely a 4-5 year total wait (hell SF 7..) for some of the less obvious popular choices to have a chance to return and it’s a little distressing, especially if you love the game, but haven’t found your main yet.
I'm pretty sure Terry and Mai will have alternate costumes, Terry probably is going to have his Mark of the Wolves appearance. In terms of moves, Terry and Mai do have a very varied move-set, especially since they tend to change from game to game, Terry plays very differently in games such as Real Bout 2 and KoF '99, while Mai had some unique moves in Real Bout Special
@@pablocasas5906 This. People who only knows their KOF versions will be blow away if Capcom uses a more RBS/RB2 focused moveset for these two. RB/RBS/RB2 are games much more explosive and bold visually than KOF and Garow.
Legit feels like someone mixed up the season order in the workplan spreadsheet or something. Also, big agree on Terry as SNK rep - SNK has soooooo many great characters but they went with John and Jane SNK. My heart longs for Duo Lon or Vanessa in SF (or CvS) but even among their iconic characters, Kyo, Iori, K' or Leona would've been much more interesting picks for the game imo, not to mention Angel, Clark or Shermie because grapplers.
For the first (non-Capcom) guest characters in any mainline Street Fighter game ever, Terry and Mai are perfect picks. Like, I love Yamazaki and B. Jenet, but even I'd be a bit disappointed if they took the honor of being the first away from SNK's "mascot" characters.
@@FRAUD-- I understand the perspective but in general I'm not a fan of having mascots in the first place because then you get this exact thing - NieR is now just 2B, SNK is Terry and Mai, Darkstalkers is Morrigan, Pokemon is Pikachu, X-Men is Wolverine, etc. After some point, you get a few characters under the spotlight x10 more than the rest combined, regardless of whether the mascot was the most fitting option for the crossover. Like, I'm legit tired of seeing 2B and Terry everywhere lol.
I'm not going to pretend by having fake hype like most of these delusional fanboys have. To keep it real it's very disappointing that guest characters are taking up 50% of the lineup which is just completely nonsensical and a complete waste. The lineup just mostly feels very stale, unimaginative, nonsensical, uninteresting, repetitive, and corporately forced. It's completely tone deaf from what many SF fans wanted. You would think Capcom would have the common sense to know SF fans want to play SF characters in a SF game. Not some lame generic one off guest characters who aren't coming back in the future and steal spots from actual SF characters. There's still a bunch of way more interesting, popular, and heavily requested SF characters that deserve to be in the game more than most of these lame picks. Also, Nash has died completely for nothing now and SFV is pointless which is just a pathetic joke. I just feel like Capcom made mostly all of these character picks only because of sex appeal, cheap broad popularity, and money alone. It just feels like a very scummy inauthentic desperate move and doesn't really make sense to have most of these characters this early over clearly more deserving SF characters that fans have wanted back for years. Mostly all of these picks don't bring anything new or interesting to the game except maybe Elena. Terry is just another mostly lame generic shoto in a game where there is already too many. Basically, Ken with a trucker hat and jeans. Mai is one of the least interesting and most unimaginative female characters ever in an SNK game and was only picked because of sex appeal towards braindead horny gamers. She's just another less interesting Chun-Li. Bison looks like the same old boring shit we've already seen too many times before only now he's got the most unimaginative nonsensical shit like having a horse and looking like a hobo. His design looks awful too like they just threw random ideas together because they thought it would look cool. He still looks like a complete cartoonish joke of a villain and in almost every aspect looks very out of place in SF6. He's pointless in a game where there is already a much better and more interesting villain who uses psycho power in JP. Also only having 4 characters for over a year is terrible for how much Capcom is overpricing all this shit. There needs to be more than 4 because that is a dam ripoff especially for $70. I wouldn't have nearly as many problems with this season if it was 5-6 characters and only one guest character because then the price would feel somewhat justified. All this just tells me that the games director has completely lost touch because now it looks like a complete scummy lame waste of a season. Just more of the same old shit from last season only somehow worse. Capcom is truly creatively bankrupt now. Whats worse it their just going keep nickel and diming their delusional fanboys so they can exploit them as much as possible. Once again glad I didn't waste my money on this game because Crapcom is clearly still alive and well. People still wonder why games popularity has fell off a cliff since launch and why it will only continue to do that this season. It's because people realized just how scummy and hollow the game truly is. I guess i'll check back in next year to see if they’re going to do anything interesting with this game but i'm not getting my hopes up.
The season pass is good but it shouldnt have been 4 characters. 5 characters would have been better and felt less like a kick in the nuts to most SF fans. The fact that after we get Bison, that we wont get a SF character until all the way until a year from now in Elena, that isnt good at all. My hope is that next year they update the game to Super Street Fighter 6, they update world tour and then they add 2 characters at launch and the season has the traditional extra 4 characters (meaning we get 6). Thats my dream lol
In a perfect world they would probably have all sorts of DLC characters. But I think it's just fair to assume their budget is limited(and Capcom has other franchises they also wanna throw money at). We could call it a "kick in the nuts" but they already gave us a really great SF game on launch, right? We generally got what we wanted out of a SF game in a long time, and at the very least, it just means the future DLC after Season 2 can be great!
@@valeoncat13 no I get that. SF hasn't had this popularity in a while. I think people are understimating how well its actually doing. My point is that with your successful games, you kinda want to pump money in them if the return is there. My guess is that they still operated with a skeleton crew for these last few seasons since dlc takes a while to develop and the main team focuses on main game. My copium is that we will see the fruits of their labor after this season (they said it takes 2 years to develop fighters) and now the alot of the team can focus on game
Odd time for a crossover and odd release pace for characters. I'm curious to know how much of (if any) of the development resources were moved away from standard characters and into the World Tour/Avatar stuff, and how much of a return they're actually getting from that. I'm sure it helped with initial sales, but how many people are really buying these monthly battle passes to play dress up with their create-a-character?
I do, because if you play SF6 a decent amount, you earn the whole pass back and keep getting each month free after the initial $5. Granted, a lot of the pass outfits are not interesting at all, but at least a dedicated player theoretically only has to pay once.
I totally agree where this would be awesome if it happened later and not so early. It's strange for me that they created a perfect setting to have older versions of characters but they neglect the series that it's set after for the first time in the canon. While I respect SFII obviously I think I'm in the perspective that this game's roster is frustrating. A lot of people view SFII as their childhood so they will get warm feelings seeing someone like Guile or Sim back for a new iteration but Alpha and III were mine and quite a few's childhood games and seeing 0 reps from Alpha and a single rep from III feels like we're making do with the a single rep that I may not even enjoy to play. When they said that they were going to shock people with their picks I thought they'd announce someone like Necro or even pull someone else from Rival Schools. I love SNK a lot, don't get me wrong, but Terry and Mai felt to me like such a safe pick and there are characters they could cross over from their own series. If I'm being honest I'm happy for my friends excited but for me I'm a little deflated. I understand how much work goes into making characters, but 4 characters, 3 characters I'm not really looking forward to and a character I 'may' like in Elena while none of the Alpha cast and a single III character is in kind of drained any excitement. Not to separate fans but a lot of my Street Fighter II fan friends are very happy with their new iteration of their mains while I'm left feeling kind of drained waiting for a single one of my favorites to come back and the crossover makes it feel like, "Well, here's to next year."
necro mentioned 🎉 i honestly have a feeling that based on elena being their first pick they might stick to sf3 characters who've appeared in multiple titles that covers a pretty wide net of the cast, but kinda leaves sf3s charming weirdos in the dust with no chance of a modern reimagining i hope it isn't the case (hell just bring back effie and make her a huge necro tribute if you don't wanna touch him) but it would be a major bummer if they hedge their bets on playing it safe :(
I agree, its a good pass at the wrong time. Like all these characters(aside from elena) just screems this should be the games final season pass to end off the game, especially bison. You would've given people more SF characters with possibilty that they got someone they wanted and then you could spring the guest on people.
With how quickly Bison was finished after Akuma, I'm kind of hoping they'll be able to ramp up to at least a 5 character season for year 3 onward. But I feel this is bigtime copium.
Including all the season 2 characters, this is the spread of returning Street Fighters across the mainline series. SF1 - 2 SF2 - 10 (11 if you count Lily) Alpha - 0 SF3 - 1 SF4 - 1 SF5 - 2 (3 if you count AKI) EDIT: After I wrote this comment I looked up SFV's roster after the first season, to compare for myself. I ended up making the realization that there were only 2 returning SF4 originals by the end SFV (one of which was Juri again). 3 if you want to count Poison, since SF4 was her first playable mainline appearance. Now I just feel bad for SF4 fans.
The worst part about this is that despite SF2 getting the heaviest focus they haven't even brought my main back 😭I just don't feel right asking for Vega now when there are literally no Alpha characters
honestly 2 guests is just nuts to me, and it's not even MOTW Terry or COTW Mai (could've been a big opportunity to market her new look!!). It just feels like 3 extremely safe choices and then Elena. I'm set on my character forever (Ryu main ;p) but I think this is seriously one of the most disappointing roster choices ever. I thought SF6 was supposed to be a new generation and we get 1 single newcomer in the first 2 DLC packs??? When's year 3?
My honest take? Absolutely nothing against these particular characters, I understand SNK has history with Street Fighter, but I don't like that "pandora's box" has opened. Out of all Fighting games, I like SF the most partially for the characters, its identity, I don't want it to become the next Smash that's ruined by dozens and dozens of third parties I've never heard of. As soon as they add an annoying anime character, with or without a sword, I'm out.
Bison is way to soon and his prior incarnation was an infuriating fight. Always smiling cause always positive (on block). Lots of dumb stuff until it was finally patched out in the last few patches. A dash with i frames. Yeah, that was cool. Elena is problematic for various reasons. Healing is either busted or terribad and it's very very hard to get it balanced. Terry and Mai could have been a dozen other guests, notably Iori, Geese, Kyo, King, Hinata, Yuri, Ash, K', Clark, Ralf and the entire rest of the cast from Garou. Legit all of them.
I agree that this pass feels early, Bison feels too soon, unless they plan on doing something more with him later. Either way, Terry and Mai are Top Picks in my opinion. Terry is the Ryu of all SNK fighting games. He came first. Mai is equally similar as she came in Fatal Fury 2 and cemented her place. I main Chun-li now, but I played Mai more consistently. Kyo is cool, but Terry is just badass. Kyo and Iori just feel like edgy teens trying to one-up one another in comparison.
I saw some people say "its your fault for high expectations." I was expecting even more SF characters, sorry for expecting the obvious Its a huge loss only 4 characters and even bigger for 2 not being from sf (kof is the first FG i played, but i absolutely hate this decision)
That intro to the trailer, white guy, in jeans wearing a white T-shirt...next to a flaming barrel. I was like that's CODY! You can imagine how devastated I was lol
Well I hate Elana and the SNK irrelevants but I agree it's about who they didn't pick a lame season 5 hurts a lot less because the roster is already very well populated. A lame season 2 means a stunted future for the game
This season has drop kicked my interest for the future of SF6. I haven't had a 2nd character I liked in Street Fighter since SF4, I spent all my time in SFV and all my time in SF6 currently playing Zangief. The character I want to return aren't popular so I was already bracing myself to be disappointed as I knew the chances they would be picked over fan favorites were very slim. But I still had some hope that this or the next season would add someone I like. But with the introduction of not just a single guest character but 2 out of the 4 characters we are getting are not even from SF, my characters now have to compete with random characters from other franchises. I have zero hope that anyone I like will ever be added to the game, there just isn't room for them now. I am kind of mentally exhausted playing Gief right now and I wanted a game that I have more than a single character so I can hop between the 2. Now my interest in the future of SF6 has cratered.
my assumptions are that they prioritized the crossover characters to get them out before garou releases. and because it would have been hard to keep such a bombshell under the wraps for longer. but i dont get why they brought back bison already, of course hed never stay dead, but they should have waited at least untill the end of season 3 to bring him back.
It's not just that Bison is coming back in Year 2, but that he's coming out SO close to Akuma. Akuma only gets to be the "new" character for one month, which seems weird seeing how anticipated he was for many players-myself included.
they did this with the graphic for year one as well. they said ed winter 2024 and they put aki on the left and rashid in the middle even though rashid came out first
We all knew Bison was gonna come back eventually but holy hell you couldn't wait a couple of seasons before immediately bringing him back? It's only been a year. I'm fine with guest characters but not when they take up 50% of the season, and especially not when Terry's been showing up in every game, I don't really like Mai either. I get she's not as "well known" but I would've loved a Leona or something, a character that's much more unique and plenty cool. I don't know what Terry adds to this game that we don't already have. Overall I'm super disappointed, I only kinda care about Elena and she's not coming out for another year.
idk man her gameplay sucks the only thing about her that gives her any relevamncy is the proportions, if they wanted a cool female character it shouldve been like terry's girl or elizabeth or king or vanessa you know characters with substance@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034
im happy to have terry coming to the game but having 2 guest characters back to back in the same season pass is too much, if they saved mai for a later time thatd be cool but i wouldve rather had someone from sf3 like q, hugo or makoto
I think at this point it's pretty likely that SF6's roster is always going to be it's weak point. The monkey's paw has decided that a bad taste in characters is this team's fatal flaw.
I know nothing about SNK games, but the designs just don’t fit SF6 at all. I get excited about new characters and costumes because the SF6 design team keeps delivering bangers, but the SNK characters look like a homeless pokemon trainer and an anime character who has 0 personality and is only there for cheap fanservice
For synergy sake, with their 4 character DLC system, maybe SF6 will go all the way to Season 6 😅But I agree that guests characters should have been at the later seasons or if SF6 was losing steam and Capcom needed a hail mary
Elena was one of my picks so I'm so happy she's there even if she's last and even though I'm not happy he's back Bison does look cooler than he ever has so I think I'll actually enjoy this season more than the first despite AKI being so good because I really only played her out of the 4 last characters. Mai and Terry are just kinda meh to me. Not a huge SNK fan and even if I was I wouldn't be a fan of those two. Happy for the people who are but I can understand the frustration of others honestly.
I do agree that this season would have worked better later on but what’s interesting to me is that the 1st season pass was all about SFV with both Rashid and Ed being SFV newcomers while Aki is connected to Fang. Doesn’t seem like they’re too worried with getting SF3 characters in early. If there were no crossover characters I’m pretty sure the pass would have followed the same formula of 3 characters based around a past entry plus a returning bad guy to round it off
I was expecting some CVS announcement or something because that’s all that made sense in my head for a crossover this early. So many fan favourites across the franchise are missing and with what appears to be 4 per pass (unless we get an extra or two sprinkled in as a surprise) it’s rough for fans to see 2 of those spots go to guests that they may not be interested in. A few that come to mind that are “missing” Sagat, Vega, Balrog, Dudley, Makoto, Rufus, Rose, Karin, Sakura, Fei Long, Yun/Yang, Harkan, Seth to name a few. I can understand no Sakura since we just got Akuma. But this would have been a great chance to bring in some characters that weren’t in 5 at least to explore their design and gameplay 1 in the future of the SF universe but 2 with the new modernise gameplay etc. Idk I feel like this is mostly a way to try bring in more people? But the thing is most people I know who play SNK games also play Street Fighter so it’s not like a massive thing
Been saying the exact thing, why is Kyo always getting the shaft when it comes to being a rep for an SNK crossover? Obviously there’s a lot of Terry fans me included he’s cool but I like Kyo so much more, Iori too like you said.
I'm actually more excited for Terry than Mai and think Mai did not need to be there at all since Terry's a cool pick and I like playing as Terry even if he's frequently in crossovers nowadays. I will say Kyo would defintely be a more interesting pick even if I'm not a Kyo fan myself since iirc Kyo's never really had a standalone crossover appearance, he's always either in CvS/SvC or just a cameo. I wish instead of Mai we got Kazuya Mishima instead + 6 characters over four
Terry and Mai are the safest, more financially sound and most painfully uncreative choices they could have taken for guest characters. They are everywhere already and they will also be in City of the Wolves. I would have preferred Yor and Loid as guest playable characters, by far. I would have preferred Baki. Hyakkimaru or Black Jack would have been awesome. Damn, I would even have preferred Splinter. (And this to name just a few characters from the fantastic collabs they wasted in avatar garbage.)
Iori is the edgest in kof, my classmates even had belt rapid around legs back in the day. But if you have iori it must come with kyo , guessing that's why it's always terry, he can came along.
I feel like I'd be less miffed if it was just one like Terry or Mai and not both and as much as I personally love Terry it should've just been Rock or something since Garou COTW is coming up. I do think the gameplay implications of having SNK fireballs in SF is interesting tho
I'm not that excited for this season, and thing that boogles my mind is: If this were to hype up city of the wolves, which is planned to be released much later the year, why did they pick Terry and not Rock, the protagonist of said game, PLUS HALF OF HIS MOVES ARE FROM TERRY ANYWAY 💀????? Hopefully those two don't end up throwing fireballs and green stuff like half the characters, but idk :/
Thank you, I thought I was crazy for being the only one who would've preferred Kyo or even Iori over Terry for SF6. His movelist seems like it would be fun in the system, but no, it has to always be Terry now. Regardless, I also agree that it's a bit early for crossovers, especially when it's taking 2 slots.
I think the pass is good, but I think they overdid it with both having Terry and Mai in the same pass I would have preferred something like - 2 returning chars - 1 SF6 original character - And either Terry or Mai I think that's a much more well-rounded selection
It seems contradictory to complain about there being two SNK characters in a 4 person season but being okay with a 4 person season when a 5 to 6 person season would make the whole issue null.
It reminds me that tekken 7 announced a lot of guest characters in the early season and focused on original ones later. I hope sf6 will have 4 guest characters at most and tons of original ones will return in the end.(where is my boy Hugo?)
I would agree with you IF I wasn't waiting for the return of Real Bout Fatal Fury Special / RB2 Mai's design since 1998. 26 yeas, my friend, 26 years indeed... Since SNK didn't care about it, I am more than glad to see that Nakayama care and brought her back to the main stream. Also, answering your questioning about no Kyo Kusanagi, it is because this is NOT a SF6 x SNK nor a SF6 X KOF colab. It is a SF6 X Fatal Fury colab. Kyo was never in Fatal Fury (There is a new FF game in the horizon, this colab was made to help to promote it). Also, it is more than obvious that they are taking inspiration on RBS/RB2 version of Terry and Mai, so, instead burning your brain about how Capcom will deal with / realize KOF mechanics like: - CD attacks; - run; - rolls; - short hops... ...you should wait for more traditional FF pre Garow characteristics like: - lots of special cancelable or ground to air target combos; - a dedicated move to flip characters midair to increase crossup potential; - big projectiles; - very big but short ranged projectiles; - lots of feints; - some VERY unusual moves o their arsenal for people who only knows their KOF versions. - at least one or two Easter Egg about the multiple plane system.
Oh man this video is so disapointing. I I screamed my lungs out in excitement. For example, when Baiken showed in Samurai Shodown I thought it was SICK. When Akuma showed in Tekken it was Sick. Anything that unites players is a good thing. This kind of message really rubs me the wrong way and feels like invalidating the excitement of some people over things we enjoy. Is kinda sad tbh because that representation you're talking about will come one way or another. The idea of "They took two slots" is just a dumb one in my opinion. I live in Canada and I am Mexican. My friends mostly play SF and not KoF and all my pals were super excited. Wanting SF characters and not receiving them is not a reason to be disappointed. Hell, this is not the same example, but a Friend is a big Slayer player and he didn't got Slayer until last month in Strive and he tried EVERY SINGLE CHARACTER out of the DLCs because it was fun!. Dunno, I am disappointed in this very "gatekeepy" kind of rethoric.
The hardcore fgc understimate how bad was the initial reception ok SF 3 series, and how much popular Alpha and SNK games are popular outside of the bubble. Acording to Event Hubs, among the 25 most popular characters in SF IV, just 4 are from SF 3. 11 are from SF2 Super or Super Turbo, 6 are from Alpha and the other are newcomers. From a business perspective, bring more popular chars from other places, and bring a SF3 that was played for a very short time and was absent for a generation, almost make sense. But I m all in for Terry and a ex Power Dunk with ground bounce 😈
I can understand wishing for cooler characters from SNK, but... Kyo? He's more of a shoto than Terry is. He'd probably be the most derivative DLC character to date. I would like a more unexpected choice like Angel, Blue Mary, Leona or Vanessa (I'd love to see how Crazy Puncher Max would look in RE Engine), but I think Terry is probably the best "safe" choice.
It was definitely a big swing. My completely unsubstantiated theory is that SNK has a brilliant gangster, oops I mean negotiator, that made this deal happen, because this only makes sense if SNK made a sweet deal or an offer that couldn't be refused. It's great hype building for FF, and Mai/Terry are obviously the safest option, they'll sell regardless. Plus, they will be easy to implement, though Kyo/Iori would have been dope, just doesn't make sense cuz they aren't FF characters. Hopefully this is the first step towards CvS3. Mc Mura theorized that Elena was added so they could put her on a redmption arc gameplay wise, like how they did with Fang/Aki, DJ, etc I'm honestly kinda hyped for Terry, I'm a Ryu main but he could be pretty sweet. Here's hoping they add Ryu/Chun to FF
I thought I was the only one who thought the art looks weird compared to the first 😂 I think they hired another team for year 2 art promos. I honestly at least would’ve voted for K’ or Kyo, I’m just sick of the basic Terry tbh, though Mai is a cool choice, they’ll look great in SF graphics and playstyle, and i trust Capcom perfecting the task.

Yeah Rock would make actual sense and be more fun. But of course he's less marketable so😒
@@Scarmiglione379no. These are the real bout fatal fury versions.
Rock would be awesome tbh.
This should have been season 5 or 6. MAYBE season 4.

I’m in a similar boat when it comes to the SNK characters, it’s cool and all but the more I think of it, the more I’m like “ok so this season we are getting the Ryu and Chun Li of KOF?”
That might sound like a dumb generalization of the two but they just don’t excite me the way returning veterans would, even though I recognize this is a big deal for SF, doesn’t help that they have normal designs too
It’s just tough when you realize that it’ll be a whole year before we get any SFAlpha or Final Fight characters in this game
I’m super happy about Terry and Mai, but man, I also wanna see Q make a return, that would be hype.
I agree with your opinion. If this was season 4 or 5, I would have been blown away. For season 2? I'm like meh.
It's because we are getting Tekken characters season 3 lol
@@MrShinTensei Panda 2026
I feel like a lot of the Elena complaints are from people who never played the game and just heard about the healing and that she was OP lol
Capcom really gave JP 1 whole year as the big bad.

To do this so early just makes it seem like every pass following this is gonna have guest characters on it, and will just take slots away from characters that people have been dying to see come back (especially if they continue only doing 4 characters a pass)
I really hope this will be a one-time thing just because of COTW coming out, I would be really disappointed if we miss out on characters from alpha/third strike/4 because capcom wants to put heihachi and kazuya in the game because crossover=profit
i pretty much agree with all your points.
No-one from Alpha either
They should bring back Mika and Karin from SF5 who were in Alpha. Then add Sakura and Rose, Dan from SF5 who were also in Alpha to round out the roster + add SF4 Gen who was in Alpha as well.
I’m all little worried about what this means for future seasons, will every season be 50% guest characters until it morphs into something that is barely a street fighter game anymore?
Ah yes, lets worry bout street fighter turning into not street fighter because they introduced their first ever guest characters, ever

My biggest and most futile hope is that there will be surprise characters inbetween...
Yeah that's not happening
I know this sounds horrible but it’s Capcom 😂 so don’t count on it bruh 🤦🏻♂️😂
“Like that’s ever gonna happen”
There's a bigger posibility that CAPCOM will add some skins like they did with the collaboration with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Spy×Family
2 is too much
wish it was 6 characters instead of 4
I kind of have to agree.
Not to mention there are ZERO SF Alpha reps, same situation as sf3. And the Alpha characters are some of the most iconic in the series.
absolutely agree with the SNK always putting Terry

Agree Terry is a bit overplayed. Kyo and Iori both ooze cool.
Terry is the face though
Imagine a full pas of reimagined characters with brand new designs and movesets! But no, Terry with his classic design.
Quality over quantity
The Pandora's Box has opened with crossovers. It is now a matter of time before 2B somehow is added as a guest character.
Give me some Duo-Lon so he can have a stretchy limb battle with Dhalsim.
@VoermanIdiot Not really. This is a very special ocasion regarding Capcom and SNK. SF doesn't really does crossovers
No bro, you gotta be SUPER HYPED for half the pass being guest characters and make a soyface in the thumbnail! Being negative is a big nono!
sf fans when the series gets its first guest character ever:
Disagree hard, hyped for Terry
Not to separate fans but a lot of my Street Fighter II fan friends are very happy with their new iteration of their mains while I'm left feeling kind of drained waiting for a single one of my favorites to come back and the crossover makes it feel like, "Well, here's to next year."
necro mentioned 🎉
i honestly have a feeling that based on elena being their first pick they might stick to sf3 characters who've appeared in multiple titles
that covers a pretty wide net of the cast, but kinda leaves sf3s charming weirdos in the dust with no chance of a modern reimagining
i hope it isn't the case (hell just bring back effie and make her a huge necro tribute if you don't wanna touch him) but it would be a major bummer if they hedge their bets on playing it safe :(
I agree, its a good pass at the wrong time.
I agree with Kyo/Iori statement
Including all the season 2 characters, this is the spread of returning Street Fighters across the mainline series.
SF1 - 2
SF2 - 10 (11 if you count Lily)
Alpha - 0
SF3 - 1
SF4 - 1
SF5 - 2 (3 if you count AKI)
EDIT: After I wrote this comment I looked up SFV's roster after the first season, to compare for myself.
I’m in the Karin waiting room for alpha, I want my busted white woman normals and just frame tenko back from 5 and all the weird shit she had in A3
@@Vsolid I'll pass on the 100% damage throws from A3
@@zanpakutoman4225 It also launched with a rootkit
To be fair SF4 had some genuine stinkers. No Viper is unforgivable though.
honestly 2 guests is just nuts to me, and it's not even MOTW Terry or COTW Mai (could've been a big opportunity to market her new look!!).
Don't you think Bison should ride a bison instead of a horse?
Yes
Real talk Broski I don't like those 2 guest characters we don't need that right now we need some SF 3 and 4 characters
They either should've saved the guest characters OR split them up. Just Terry this season, then Mai next time
You right, shouldve been Kyo or Rock
I saw some people say "its your fault for high expectations."
I was expecting even more SF characters, sorry for expecting the obvious
Its a huge loss only 4 characters and even bigger for 2 not being from sf (kof is the first FG i played, but i absolutely hate this decision)
No Sakura …😢 is what it is, maybe next time
That intro to the trailer, white guy, in jeans wearing a white T-shirt...next to a flaming barrel.
Now my interest in the future of SF6 has cratered.
the fact we’ll be in year 2 without a new grappler is so fucked up
my assumptions are that they prioritized the crossover characters to get them out before garou releases.
and because it would have been hard to keep such a bombshell under the wraps for longer.
but i dont get why they brought back bison already,
of course hed never stay dead,
but they should have waited at least untill the end of season 3 to bring him back.
It's not just that Bison is coming back in Year 2, but that he's coming out SO close to Akuma. Akuma only gets to be the "new" character for one month, which seems weird seeing how anticipated he was for many players-myself included.
It'll be so funny if next season will be Kazuya and Heihachi or kazuya and Jin
nah get fakhumram in there way more influencial
this is a joke of course not this stupid
Broski pinpointing the problem as always.
Give us someone other than Terry (he is cool tho)
I agree, weird choices for S2. But Capcom did the same in SFV S2, Akuma and 5 newbies.
they did this with the graphic for year one as well. they said ed winter 2024 and they put aki on the left and rashid in the middle even though rashid came out first
Only four characters and two of them are guest characters. Can't say I care for season 2.
😔😔😔
We all knew Bison was gonna come back eventually but holy hell you couldn't wait a couple of seasons before immediately bringing him back? It's only been a year.
I'm fine with guest characters but not when they take up 50% of the season, and especially not when Terry's been showing up in every game, I don't really like Mai either. I get she's not as "well known" but I would've loved a Leona or something, a character that's much more unique and plenty cool. I don't know what Terry adds to this game that we don't already have.
Overall I'm super disappointed, I only kinda care about Elena and she's not coming out for another year.
Mai is very unique, she's like a Vega-Chunli mix to put it really simply
@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034 Maybe I was unclear, I think Mai is fine, her gameplay just doesn't jive with me.
idk man her gameplay sucks the only thing about her that gives her any relevamncy is the proportions, if they wanted a cool female character it shouldve been like terry's girl or elizabeth or king or vanessa you know characters with substance@@notimeforcreativenamesjust3034
I’m feeling the exact same, if there is the same content drought I don’t really see myself playing this game for a while.
Real talk we don't want Terry or Mai there's a lot of better characters than them what about Ryo rock geese Rugal
im happy to have terry coming to the game but having 2 guest characters back to back in the same season pass is too much, if they saved mai for a later time thatd be cool but i wouldve rather had someone from sf3 like q, hugo or makoto
I think at this point it's pretty likely that SF6's roster is always going to be it's weak point. The monkey's paw has decided that a bad taste in characters is this team's fatal flaw.
Slty
@@vandagylon2885 Apparently that's a brand of Yoga pants.
Two consecutive guest characters is tough.
Bruh f*ck Terry, give me Falke and Kolin!
I know nothing about SNK games, but the designs just don’t fit SF6 at all. I get excited about new characters and costumes because the SF6 design team keeps delivering bangers, but the SNK characters look like a homeless pokemon trainer and an anime character who has 0 personality and is only there for cheap fanservice
don't read your books before they hatch my darling
For synergy sake, with their 4 character DLC system, maybe SF6 will go all the way to Season 6 😅But I agree that guests characters should have been at the later seasons or if SF6 was losing steam and Capcom needed a hail mary
I've been maining Terrance Bogart since Fatal Furry 1
Nobody is missing Rufus I promise you 💀
Been saying the exact thing, why is Kyo always getting the shaft when it comes to being a rep for an SNK crossover? Obviously there’s a lot of Terry fans me included he’s cool but I like Kyo so much more, Iori too like you said.
Bro I been saying gimme Kyo or Iori instead of Terry 😭
Hey Broski would you consider doing an AKI guide? With all her changes I would love a guide before buying her
The way they’ve designed characters this time around, I hope they put Ibuki in the game and make her more like her 3rd strike version.
I wish instead of Mai we got Kazuya Mishima instead + 6 characters over four
terrance yogurt
I wanted Kyo too... Or Iori
I think the pass is good, but I think they overdid it with both having Terry and Mai in the same pass
I would have preferred something like
- 2 returning chars
- 1 SF6 original character
- And either Terry or Mai
I think that's a much more well-rounded selection
It seems contradictory to complain about there being two SNK characters in a 4 person season but being okay with a 4 person season when a 5 to 6 person season would make the whole issue null.
They need to have better dlc graphics autumn2025 my minds thinks November of 2025 lol
It reminds me that tekken 7 announced a lot of guest characters in the early season and focused on original ones later. I hope sf6 will have 4 guest characters at most and tons of original ones will return in the end.(where is my boy Hugo?)
Should have been Geese instead of Terry, with M.Bison coming soon, and Akuma just out, why not bring all of the villains.
i kinda agree with the crossover take but the real question is, why elana the getting a spot before a lot of more requested characters
Broski once again with a right opinion.
How is the only SF3 character the one everyone associates with "ruining" SF4.
Also, it is more than obvious that they are taking inspiration on RBS/RB2 version of Terry and Mai, so, instead burning your brain about how Capcom will deal with / realize KOF mechanics like:
- CD attacks;
- run;
- rolls;
- short hops...
...you should wait for more traditional FF pre Garow characteristics like:
- lots of special cancelable or ground to air target combos;
- a dedicated move to flip characters midair to increase crossup potential;
- big projectiles;
- very big but short ranged projectiles;
- lots of feints;
- some VERY unusual moves o their arsenal for people who only knows their KOF versions.
Mc Mura theorized that Elena was added so they could put her on a redmption arc gameplay wise, like how they did with Fang/Aki, DJ, etc
I'm honestly kinda hyped for Terry, I'm a Ryu main but he could be pretty sweet.
