Absolutely shocked about Hattons, bought so much stuff from them, quality company. However, if you had to retail some of this Hornby stuff it might be damn hard to make a living. You did your best to be positive Sam, thank you.
Hi Sam. Not sure how you managed it but somehow I think you made their range launch more exciting than they did! I watched it through and yet learnt far more from your presentation. That said they did show Loco#1 as a running sample on their Q&A and it looks amazing.
Hi Sam, the platinum jubilee 67 is not a late release commemorative item. This livery was actually carried by the loco in real life so it is a genuine model.
I would agree with you, but unfortunately, your point cuts both ways as so was the jubilee purple Livery of Taw Valley which they released the model of In the same year of the jubilee. That's proven they could have released those repaints that year if they planned them properly. Even giving them the benefit of the doubt for perhaps marketing strategy to not devalue the limited edition model or they were struggling to get it out in time, I could maybe understand the following year.... But I have to agree with Sam, only getting around to announcing its release, 2 years after the event wether it could be helped or not. is still a bad marketing blunder because they have well and truly missed the boat that had the jubilee celebration band wagon on to sell to. Plus to some it does have the effect that they are trying milk a cash cow that has long since died from been milked to death... Evident from how quickly the limited edition sold out at the time, it would have probably generated far more sales from celebration impulse purchases, even if they only offered them as a preorder. But again, didn't seem to cross their minds Sadly as Sam has shown in many of his monthly news and review videos... This is far from the only oversight or blunder Hornby have made. Especially evident in most of their Era 1 releases over the last 2 years including the titfield thunderbolt/Lion mess...
Disagree, this is nothing to do with the made up livery’s Hornby have done. The 67 is a current live locomotive and reflects this. The Dapol N gauge version is due for release this year as well.

Sad about Hattons. I hope you received my email with files for a weighbridge. I hope it make for a great new addition to your abilities and tools for measuring the quality of locomotive manufacture. Thanks as always Sam!
@@SamsTrains I sent the email on the 31st of December, to your outlook account. I’ll probably resend it now. If there is an issue, is there anything I need to know about sending you emails? There maybe something wrong.
As far as the E2 goes, there are plenty of actual liveries for it: LBSCR black, BR black, SR green (unless it wore black irl)… if the Beatles thing must continue, put Ringo Starr on a blue E2 with red stripes. wink. Wink. WIIIIINK!! A BR green L1 is something I’m rather excited for, as is the King Class and the green Class 46. Although a J83 in NBR would’ve been nice to see 😢 No Great Bear, but that’s ok, that means no anticlimactic backflip today either haha Thanks for doing this, Sam, much appreciated. See you soon!
I know I know... don't know why the E2 keeps getting these weird liveries! Definitely some interesting things here, not much of it very inspiring though! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Happy New Year to you and Chloe too Sam. Well, what can we say. From our understanding, the British OO market seems to expect a tsunami of novelties and exciting news in overdrive all the time. Would you rather not have good well thought-out quality and affordable models instead of continuous half-baked things, outdated without much progress and on-going problems? Perhaps H is doing a wise thing for taking a step back, making time to clean-up their house after years of a mess, and to spend time really required to develop a quality model, both in development and production. Introduction of TT was a mess as well with curved track not lining up, missing track pieces in the box and what not... Hopefully, they are on a path of coming back on track.
Excellent video, Sam! 20:00 - When the first TV documentary was made soon after Simon took on the Hornby reigns, there was a scene showing empty shelves where the previous management had scrapped _hundreds_ of toolings - so, yes, it's sadly a very high liklihood indeed the original Nellie tooling is gone.🙁
@@johnd8892 It sounds like a cost cutting measure. Tooling is expensive and it feels like they just repurposed something that was vaguely similar of the original one.
Hi @@johnd8892 , sadly as sailormatlac9114 says, while scanning the original would make design work easier, the tooling itself was about £15k per model 5-10 years ago, who knows what it is now, so that's the bit that isn't cost effective for want of just a generic looking 0-4-0T. I say 'generic': Nellie was loosely based on a tiny ex-LSWR shunter type, class C14, utilising the power unit from LSWR's experimental railmotors, but I mean _loosely_ , as Nellie was maybe 25% bigger than a C14 to house Hornby's ubiquitous HP motor chassis, as used on this model too (I think this is the body off a clockwork driven 0-4-0T Thomas that Hornby made in the 90s?). Not sure how popular it'd be, but a propper C14 would be fun to see in 00!
Excellent summary of the announcements Sam. I watched the Hornby video and some others and yours was the best, well planned and professional. Well done. Can't wait for your take on the hattons and Warley news.
Thanks for keeping us informed Sam, strange hearing about Hattons closing, very sad, here's to the staff and hope they all get jobs. I can can only speak as I find-they were 110% efficient. Regards Terry.
While there was not much announced this year, I’m glad there are more Railroad models on the way, and I’m glad the B1 and L1 are back. Locomotion No. 1 and the new era 1 stock looks nice as well. I think the prices are a little too high for what most of this stuff is (that being said I think Tiger and Locomotion are semi-reasonably priced), but as sad as it is, I’ve come to expect that these days. Overall, I don’t think this range launch was too bad, especially considering that the new Black 5, streamlined B17, Deltic Prototype, etc, are yet to be released, and Hornby have said their will be more announcements later in the year, so I suppose that will make the lack of new announcements better. I also think in many ways this years announcements were quite smart in a lot of ways, as there was a heavy focus on Railroad steam, which is something we haven’t had much of in recent years, and with prices going up and according to Hattons, demographic changes, it does sound like we need more affordable models on the market. I know this all probably sounds a little soft on Hornby, but I have a feeling there will be a lot of negativity over this, and I feel that it’s important to try and keep things positive.
@@platformten5958 Rails are doing well according to there filed company reports. Hattons fell out with Bachmann and were given a low tier by Hornby. Their last trading statement shows a severe switch from profit to loss. They also had significant warranty claims on the own brand O and OO stuff. A combination of bad luck and questionable management decisions hasn't lead to an insolvency but to a business exiting the market paying everybody off. Other dealers like Kernow will be rubbing their hands with the prospect more business coming their way!
Airfix have had a few surprise releases in the last few months and it has been successful for them as it gets the sprue social influencers making videos and people going back to their retail website. The annual announcement was really a throwback to the past where trade catalogues had to be prepared and printed and retailers would raise purchase orders for delivery later in the year (the loss of a big customer in Hattons will impact them unless they can make up the difference elsewhere).
Hello Sam, The Midland clerestory coaches go way back, and look great. Same as the GWR clerestories. Hopefully there will be an upgrade on the detailing and paintwork.
This is purely my opinion but items such as the Beatles 0-4-0 tank engine pack, the various new liveries of 0-6-0 locos and the Nellie, Polly , Connie locos etc are way to expensive, the Beatles pack is worth about £60, the 0-6-0’s £35 and the 0-4-0’s £25
That LMR 2nd class and the L&B coach look really neat! Personally don’t do era 1, but they do look lovely. (though not sure about paying nearly £40 for one)
I think keeping it simple and unambitious (aside from Locomotion No. 1- pretty cool!) is a very, very smart move. Hornby knows people are hurting from cost of living/inflation, the secondhand market is hurting, and they just lost a major distributor. Hornby may not be introducing much new, and sacrificing another year of new product launches to build upon TT and catch up but I don't see it as a disappointment. A promising strategy to hit back harder next year!
It’s definitely quite an underwhelming range this year to be honest, only thing that really caught my eye and I do intend to purchase is the GNER HST power cars as just last year I managed to pick up a rake of 6 mk3 coaches to go with 1 that I already own, overall good stream here Sam, some interesting items but overall quite underwhelming in my view. Not sure if you saw my comment on the earlier video but the 67 in the Platinum Jubilee livery is actually a real thing, it’s not really a cash grab from hornby or something that hornby just want to slap the jubilee livery on, the real locomotive which is numbered 67007 does carry this livery in service right now and as far as I know it still currently has that livery applied, a few other locomotives also have a platinum jubilee livery applied to them.
Yeah fairly underwhelming... great start with Locomotion No.1, but then downhill from there. Yeah yeah it is a real thing - very true! Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I really don't get "The Beatles" liveries. Seasoned modellers old enough to remember the Beatles will be looking to buy something a little more authentic, and younger modellers will have never heard of The Beatles, or at least not enough of then will be fans of the Fab Four to rush out and buy the stuff in any sort of volumes. Like the look of that two-tone green 47. Does it still have the moulding lines separating the green hues?
I think Rovex loco is the best tank engine announced so far! Great video. I'm waiting impatiently for first video of other manufacturers model railway news for 2024. I'm would love to see EFE Rail Bulleid Booster Locomotive and Accurascale's new 16xx especially No. 5741 here on the channel. All I can say about this loco is "quack quack" ;)
I'm really looking forward to Locomotion No.1. I'm also like the look of Mayflower, though the price is giving me doubts, I've pre-ordered it for now, but I might change my mind. The other thing that really stood out for me with the announcement of several Era 1 coaches in single packs, which will removed something that has been irritating me for a while with the Era 1 train and coach packs; namely ending up with doubles of the 1st Class coaches. I wanted the Queen Adelaide Coach Pack (R40357), but I already had Globe and Wellington from the R3810 Rocket Train Pack, which would have been effectively meant spending £108 on one coach. Now that they going to release Queen Adelaide's Coach separately I won't have that annoyance. Likewise the announcement of the single packs for the Royal Mail and 2nd Class Coaches means I can get a few more of them without ended up with loads of doubles. Somewhat disappointed that Hornby are only releasing one new Terrier this year, had hoped they'd do a few more in Improved Engine Green, though the IoWCR one looks nice. Edit: The 2nd Class Coach is technically not a new announcement since it part of the latest Rocket Train Pack R30090 which was announced last year(?).
A bit of background info for you Sam, The 040 tank engines that are being used to recreate the old triang locos are the tooling of an 040 Thomas that hornby produced in the 90s
Hornby Marketing must be an interesting place to work. "Which loco is not selling? Let's change the decorations and colours on it with nostalgia themes". Costs money to make new dies for new locos, just repaint old ones.
Do you think they put the Beatles on that E2 to foreshadow the 40th anniversary of the Thomas and Friends TV series this year, considering that Thomas is an E2 and that Ringo originally narrated the show?
More Beatles tat, I don’t even know what the appeal of these is meant to be! Looks horrific, no style, just album covers slapped on the side. Also it’s the Beatles in general so that’s an instant dealbreaker.
Hi Sam, Happy New Year Just to say you didn’t mention the smoke generator fitted on the latest P2, which is probably part of the reason it’s so expensive! Best
Hattons always provided the best of service and pricing with Management and staff always going that extra mile in customer service. Feeling as if I am loosing a good friend.
I want to get a J36 from Hornby but literally every one they have available is on preorder and I’m worried it may not come and I will most definitely get that set with the Midland compound
Although the 2024 range is pretty small it needs to be re breed that (1) Hornby said months ago that they were moving towards a Bachmann type approach with at leat 2 - 4 big announcements being made throughout the year rather than unveiling everything in January with nothing significant announced for the remains 11 months (2) Hornby also still have a lot of stuff from 2023 (and earlier) which hasn’t arrived yet! From a Southern perspective that includes a King Arthur, a Nelson, a M7 and an H class. Granted none of these are new tooling but the point still stands that with these items still yet to arrive, stuffing the January announcements with loads of things that won’t reach the UK till the end of the year isn’t sensible.
Hatton's leaving us is absolutely heartbreaking. 95% of my entire collection I have ordered from them when I got back into the hobby 2 years ago. I will soon buy my last items from them when pay day comes around. Truly a shame because their service, prices and pre-owned selection is absolutely amazing. For me, the range launch is decent. I'm still waiting for the J36 in BR Apple green which is annoying. The County Class train pack and the B1 Mayflower as preserved are probably ones I will pick up. If I wouldn't have the Bachmann Compound the Midland one from Hornby would be a must for me. A shame the coaches aren't available seperately. They would go perfectly with my fleet. The B1 I want because it's a beautiful preserved loco and it hasn't been available in a few years. I was excited for your news, Sam 👍 first video of 2024
It is isn't it? They were my go-to as well for most things. You're right - they did a great job and always had the best service. All the best to you my friend, Thanks for watching, Sam :)
I too got back into the hobby about 2 or 3 years ago, and after getting over the shock at how much stuff now costs, Hatton's was my first port of call. I found their database facility invaluable. I have their website on a shortcut on all my mobile devices. But I have to say, it's been a while since I purchased anything substantial from them, as they were rarely - if ever - price competitive.
@@stephendavies6949 Yeah, their database is absolutely amazing. It shows all the different versions of a model, upgrades, features and all. Rails or other retailers are missing such an amazing feature. I can keep track of what version of a model I'm buying, if it's an old tender drive one or a modern loco drive one. I used to spend 100£ at least every two months, usually more. Their prices I find quite reasonable, with the occasional question mark.
Sam keep telling the truth. Do you remember the glowing reviews of the UK car industry on what were generally ill made products? How about the US car industry - a few of whom went bump while others needed bail-outs? Keep telling Hornby its all great if you like but if you do they won't be around long. Tell the truth - these are average and mostly uninspiring models at over inflated prices - and they have the chance to take that information and do better.
How many more 0-4-0's on that similar/same frame? It seems like its that in whatever livery of the day or pay through the nose if you want something else.
Anyone else notice the identity change on the Mayflower announcement? It was originally shown as 61379 but now it is to be the preserved version (61306) - I'm doubting that 61379 ever carried British Railways apple green as it was built in 1951. 61306 was a 1948 built loco and was delivered in apple green though it didn't become 'Mayflower' until it was preserved.
I got two 'Royal Diamond' Class 67's for a very good price towards the end of last year...they're finicky but I took the front 'air dams/skirts' off the fronts of the bogies and they run far better without them. Those skirts seemed to be catching on points and going the wrong way. Nice loco's though but do need running in, for sure! An honest review and "that's what I waaaant!", what we all want, I dare say. All the best Sam. Cheers!
There was a definitely a ‘Lord Westwood’ style 0-4-0 as I have one ( I think, without checking, that it was in the 1974 catalogue). You are quite right - nice idea but would be far better with the original tooling. They did use it to make some push along ‘toy’ trains in the 1980s so it was around until at least then.
So not disappointed as i didn't expect much. Like the Cork Head Terrier, but yeah fifty quid too much. Just ordered the Class 47... love a dirty diesel 😂
Hornby Dublo is not fully diecast they use a standard Hornby plastic tender which whilst inline with what Wrenn offered (Dublo had tin plate tenders, Wrenn used Triang tenders), but at this price all diecast should have been the way to go.
37:11 someone at Hornby is definitely a prog rock fan. There have been locos/ wagons named after various members of Rush (Lee, Lifeson & Peart) and King Crimson (Fripp). There might be a few more I haven’t spotted….!
I have ordered something from under the Hornby umbrella, but not “Hornby”. I ordered a corgi model of “Stingray” which was officially unveiled today. (That’s the submarine from the show “stingray”) Bit steep, but I love stingray, so I’m excited.
Hornby continue to baffle me with their direction, liveries that no one asks for, there's plenty of gaps in locos and liveries, yet Hornby keep creating segments that don't need filling.
Not surprising Hattons have jacked it in , if theyre being asked to shell out to stock that catalogue of tat. The DB Cargo 67007 in its platinum jubilee colours is used on charters / royal train / belmond pullman & towing class 92s from Crewe to Wembley & back. Why its taken 2 years to get made is anybodies guess , I reworked a Lima 67 into this livery , £55 for the loco , mixed some paint up & £10 for the transfers & then you get why buying Hornby models is just not required.
Locomotion No. 1 in OO? Check out Newman Miniatures, managed to toss a 3D printable Locomotion together in N scale! Certainly interested to see what Hornby will bring to the table with this Era 1 locomotive
I haven't studied their balance sheet or P&L position, but if they are facing existential strategic threat, the usual suspects are: refocusing on more future-proofed market segments, product quality, cost-base and image. As I understand it their customer focus is considered good, they have a solid brand, dealer network, and some good, more modern products. But against that, some real old duds that need culling and a tendency to revive them rather than retire them. But, should be possible to turn things around if they are proactive and have good management and staff discipline.
The Platinum Jubilee livery and your reaction made me laugh out loud. Wasn’t that a theme in one of your recent spoof April fools vids? Life imitating art, or did you know something we didn’t? 😂😂
Hi Sam , this is Joshua from Sri Lanka and I'm nine years old .one of these locos and my favourite hornby model train is the hornby thomas and friends thomas with annie and clarabel train set.
I'm still waiting for the 0-4-0ST 'Lady Edith' which I ordered in 2019 - still not produced yet... I'm not going to order anything else in advance until I get this!
hahaha true! I guess they just wanted to use the cheapest loco possible... a new lord Westwood would have been incredible though!! :D Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Please note: Locomotion model represents the engine in the “restored and place on the plinth as a monument” condition, not Stockton & Darlington engine. Tiger is absolutely wrong. Today Lion was restored in a non philologic way in 1928 (and could even not be the original engine). So you can’t put a nameplate on a model of a 1928 engine and claim you made the model its 1937 twin sister. You can use them for modelling an early nineteenth century freelance railway.
Hi Sam I’m not sure if I’ve made a mistake. Just bought a brand new Hornby Thomas from the 90’s. Is this one that you made a video about entitled I think it was “how to fix Hornby Thomas”?
It looks to me like Hornby are trying to trim OO development and focus on money earners, so Railroad (next to no design costs) and Era 1 (next to no competition). Guess we have to wait until march to find out if the extra design effort has gone into TT. Hornby had stuff planned for that (sure I saw images of a coronation class and a class 66).
*YEEEESSSS!!!* *I'VE BEEN WAITING FOR A LOCOMOTION NO.1 FOR YEARS!!!!* I only hope Planet No.9 follows soon! That is my favourite of the early era locos
Thanks for making this into a nice video - with not a lot of help from Hornby! What is 'Sam's Trains' going to announce for 2024? - particularly your exciting 3D printed range. May a suggest a model of the interesting mid-platform level crossing at Halesworth (featured recently on youtube). Look forward to your videos in the coming year, as always.
I'd have thought they'd have opted for the silver jubilee livery for the dublo a4 considering we've just had 2 BR Green locos for the great gathering collection
Welcome back and Happy New Year Sam. Great vid as always. Just for the info of any of your viewers that may work for the Emergency Services or the NHS and who subscribe to the Blue Light Discount Card you can get 10% off Hornby products if you buy direct from them, which might soften the blow on a £200-300 loco 😎
You may already know this but there is to be "No more Warley National Model Railway exhibitions !". With Hattons going I wonder if this is the start of a change in the hobby.

2:45 Locomotion No. 1: honestly looks pretty cool, very unusual, but it's quite complex too.

5:11 Beetles Train Pack: *no.*
5:43 Jinty Train Pack: coaches look nice, and combined with a BR black engine, it makes a cool train pack.
6:46 Midland Compound Train Pack: I love Midland Railway locomotives, and the coaches look stunning.
9:11 County Class Train Pack: another nice combination, with the GWR green loco, and the GWR brown & cream coaches. also looks nice.
10:35 Beetles 0-6-0: what is that thing.
11:19 Rovex Jinty: why does this actually look half-decent??
12:36 Platinum Jubilee Class 67: this was actually painted on a real Class 67, and honestly, i kinda like it for some reason. i know some people are saying Hornby is trying to milk the Platinum Jubilee in the comments, although considering it is an actual livery, and not like that random HST in the silver that was announced last year, i'm still fine with it. *(please do not argue in the replies ok thanks)*
13:37 HM7000 Class 47: as with any railroad plus model, the decoration looks good, and the sound is a good thing to have.
14:18 HM7000 Class 66: let's just hope that this one doesn't have the crappy wrap like the other Hornby Class 66 that you reviewed...
14:48 BR Green/Black L1's: i'm excited to see these in the range again, they are very cool models. it is a bit on the pricy side of things but it is very cool.

21:17 Britannia Class: another nice BR green locomotive. the Britannia's always look cool.
21:38 Isle of Wight Terrier: the Terriers are always nice to see, the black with red lining and gold text also looks very smart.
22:15 Isle of Wight 4-Wheel Coaches: these will look great with the Terrier, that bright wood looks great, too.
22:42 B1: nice to see it back in the range, but that price is just...
23:33 GWR Express Parcels Railcar: Very interesting livery, i can give it that. the windows at the front make it look cool too.
24:05 Tiger Locomotive: the era 1 stuff always looks cool, and now there are less shoddy coal wagons yay!!... oh wait i spoke too soon.

26:50 Liverpool & Manchester 2nd Class Rocket Coaches: interesting colors, with the brown body, gray roof, and pink curtains. overall looks good though.
27:27 Queen Adelaide's Saloon: the brown and yellow looks nice, and very interesting usage of the black coloring.
28:26 Liverpool & Manchester Royal Mail Coach: looks interesting with the yellow chassis, black body, and the red stripe. also the guy on top is a nice touch.

Sad about Hattons. I hope you received my email with files for a weighbridge. I hope it make for a great new addition to your abilities and tools for measuring the quality of locomotive manufacture. Thanks as always Sam!
Very sad indeed! That sounds awesome but I didn't see an email about that - when did you send this?? Thanks so much! :D

It’s nice to see the era 1 locos rolling stock and tenders available separately
As far as the E2 goes, there are plenty of actual liveries for it: LBSCR black, BR black, SR green (unless it wore black irl)… if the Beatles thing must continue, put Ringo Starr on a blue E2 with red stripes. wink. Wink. WIIIIINK!!
A BR green L1 is something I’m rather excited for, as is the King Class and the green Class 46. Although a J83 in NBR would’ve been nice to see 😢
No Great Bear, but that’s ok, that means no anticlimactic backflip today either haha
Thanks for doing this, Sam, much appreciated. See you soon!

@@SamsTrainsMY OWN OFFICIALLY OFFICIAL COMPLETELY COMPLETE THOUGHTFULLY THOUGHTFUL THOUGHTS EXACTLY, OL' CHAP!!!!!!!
Hornby really can't seem to keep up with the industry they were once a leader of...
Easy to 3D scan an old Nellie body if they wanted to.
The owner and management at the time where idiots did not know what a model train was.
Seriously, who wants a train with the Beatles heads on the side. 😆
What's even more preposterous is the amount of money Hornby must have paid to license the images......
It's still funny they used the E2, considering Ringo narrated Thomas (and John was offered the job too, apparently?)
@@marty6779John died years before in 1980
@@The_4tunes yeah I realized my source was an April fools joke or something about his diaries.
I like how the model that use to be Thomas is going to have the face of one of his previous narrators printed on the side of it.
Scrapping the old Lima tooling was a mistake
@@OscarOSullivan which one?
It is sad about Hatton's closing. I've only just this past year got into Model Railroading and ordered from them a few times.

@@SamsTrains Hattons have had good relations with Rails of Sheffield - sign into their website (no, I don't own any shares!)
@@SamsTrains
Hi Sam.
And I believe Rails of Sheffield are next along with Jadlam. 😪
Paul.
I think Airfix showed Hornby how it should be done this year. And last year.
Finally, after all these years we’re getting a model of locomotion
Finnaly
Finally indeed!!
@@SamsTrains I have an idea for a 3d printed locomotive
The era-1 stuff is too few and far between at the moment so it's nice to see that someone appreciates it.
Each year waiting for this video. And happy new year Sam.
Thank you so much - happy new year to you too!
"Quack quack quack ye go!"
Sam over here competing with Hornby in regards to Era 1 coal wagons 😂 Good on you mate
Very surprising you didn't even make a passing comment regarding Hattons who have served the hobby well for so many years.
Welp, if you're going to splurge 300+ quid on a die cast model then at least an A4 is a solid choice (and Silver King a change from Mallard).
Thanks!
Bless you Paul, thank you so much!
Will you be doing a video on hattons closing down
Let’s face it Bachmann’s offering at the end of 23 was even less enthralling.
Hi Sam, Happy New Year
Just to say you didn’t mention the smoke generator fitted on the latest P2, which is probably part of the reason it’s so expensive!
Best
It makes its own smoke for the smoke deflectors to deflect!
Hattons always provided the best of service and pricing with Management and staff always going that extra mile in customer service. Feeling as if I am loosing a good friend.
Ah locomotion No. 1! A fine addition to my collection
I want to get a J36 from Hornby but literally every one they have available is on preorder and I’m worried it may not come and I will most definitely get that set with the Midland compound
Although the 2024 range is pretty small it needs to be re breed that
(1) Hornby said months ago that they were moving towards a Bachmann type approach with at leat 2 - 4 big announcements being made throughout the year rather than unveiling everything in January with nothing significant announced for the remains 11 months
(2) Hornby also still have a lot of stuff from 2023 (and earlier) which hasn’t arrived yet! From a Southern perspective that includes a King Arthur, a Nelson, a M7 and an H class. Granted none of these are new tooling but the point still stands that with these items still yet to arrive, stuffing the January announcements with loads of things that won’t reach the UK till the end of the year isn’t sensible.
That Beatles loco is Hornbys equivalent of taking an existing product and putting a clock in it.
I have a Main Line GWR County class behind me and it looks fantastic, to be honest.
Sam, please, on your Monday 15 January model train news would you address what is happening with Hatton's. Cheers.
All the best to you my friend,
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
@@SamsTrainsYes, they provided excellent service. Do you think their loco database will be somehow saved?
Nope! Don't remember any such thing....
How many more 0-4-0's on that similar/same frame? It seems like its that in whatever livery of the day or pay through the nose if you want something else.
I will order the Isle Of Wight Central Terrier...if they change the paint colour from black to crimson, or change the lettering to IWC...
Hattons was one of the few places to get OO stock from the UK to the states. It is a massive loss for those of us in the US.
Is the small 0-4-2 loco that you showed( the Lms loco) was it from the Thames Clyde express(made by bachmann)?
Nothing added this year makes me think that OO is for me. Fingers crossed that the planned TT120 releases get my juices running.
Bring back production back to the UK and maybe they would have more to announce
I got two 'Royal Diamond' Class 67's for a very good price towards the end of last year...they're finicky but I took the front 'air dams/skirts' off the fronts of the bogies and they run far better without them. Those skirts seemed to be catching on points and going the wrong way. Nice loco's though but do need running in, for sure!
An honest review and "that's what I waaaant!", what we all want, I dare say. All the best Sam. Cheers!
I paid 118 pounds for my brand new King Edward ll in 2022. Tell me the new price is inflation? Yeah right!
Cant wait for the Wartime Black Hush hush! I’ve wanted the blue and green editions for ages but now the Wartime black is gonna take priority!
The prices for the railways range models are atrociously high 🙁
Yeah some of them are bonkers for what they are aren't they? Deary me
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
So not disappointed as i didn't expect much. Like the Cork Head Terrier, but yeah fifty quid too much. Just ordered the Class 47... love a dirty diesel 😂
That Beatles locomotive has such a strange print to choose for the Fab Four?!
Hornby Dublo is not fully diecast they use a standard Hornby plastic tender which whilst inline with what Wrenn offered (Dublo had tin plate tenders, Wrenn used Triang tenders), but at this price all diecast should have been the way to go.
Yeah that's true actually - just the loco!
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Ringo was a narrator for Thomas, so that could be why they put his face on a vaguely E2 Thomas type train.
Platinum Jubilee was in 2022 and thee real loco still carried that livery in January 2024, so really very much up-to-date there.
What did you expect to have it not being a dissapointing list ? Plz make a list of what you would like on a spectacular list
put some carriges behind the L1 and tells me it runs ok, in my opinion it requiresa spring loaded rear bogie
Could the lack of a name on the Hornby office mean two sets of stickers enclosed to cover Tri-Ang and Hornby at different times?
Happy New Year to you Sam!
Happy new year!!
Something seems oddly appropriate about Ringo Starr's face on the side of an E2. 😜
Thank You for the Heads-UP ! Just Pre-Ordered a Locomotion, (Era 11 ?) from UK.
Sam, i have an HM2000 controller.
How can i check the power output and what should it be. Many Thanks.

The beatles stuff is as naff as the coke sruff. However people evidently do buy it, else they wouldnt keep churnng it out
10:45 This actually does make a bit of sense, considering that Ringo Starr was the first narrator for Thomas & Friends...
Locomotion No. 1 in OO? Check out Newman Miniatures, managed to toss a 3D printable Locomotion together in N scale! Certainly interested to see what Hornby will bring to the table with this Era 1 locomotive
happy new year to you and your"s sam.
Sam, I couldn’t agree more about the Beatles locomotives and rolling stock

The Platinum Jubilee livery and your reaction made me laugh out loud. Wasn’t that a theme in one of your recent spoof April fools vids? Life imitating art, or did you know something we didn’t? 😂😂

I'm still waiting for the 0-4-0ST 'Lady Edith' which I ordered in 2019 - still not produced yet... I'm not going to order anything else in advance until I get this!
Lord Westwood colours on the generic 0-4-0 confused me: I mean, have Hornby forgotten they have a hall in the railroad range?
hahaha true! I guess they just wanted to use the cheapest loco possible... a new lord Westwood would have been incredible though!! :D
Thanks for watching, Sam :)
Hi Sam
I’m not sure if I’ve made a mistake.
