For abseiling you use a static rope with minimal stretch not a dynamic rope. the rope you have is for climbing where you are likely to fall on it, hence the stretch.
Great video, thanks for uploading. I like the look of the ground anchor strop, do you know the proper name for that as a quick google doesn't find anything. One point, where Mick is winching with the Hi-Lift he attaches the shackle to the hole under the lifting arm (the web). It would be better to put the forces onto the top of the lifting arm by using a suitable adapter, such as the one Hi-Lift sell.
Andrew Batley Hi Andrew. I am not sure of the name of the ground anchor. >such as the one Hi-Lift sell. Mick is a Yorkshireman. Unless its free he'll make do with farmers string!
+pmailkeey I see, but than a hi lift would be more multi purpose. by now I own a good old tirfor for with my landrover and a hi lift for all kinds of jobs.

the hand winch with the 2 hooks. What is it called, where to get one?
Mick uses two types: Hi-lift jack with metal hooks attached by chains and a Tirfor which uses cables.
