- “Consciousness is the prize of life,” declares Lita Albuquerque in our Closets series. The environmental artist, sculptor, painter, mother-of-two, and coolest 68-year-old in the cosmos tells all about her own renegade mother, her All Saints uniform, as well as how she turned the absence of her father into the foundation for her site-specific, internationally-acclaimed art in Egypt, the North Pole, and all across the globe.

More cool 68 year-olds, please (or 58, 78, 88...) Mainstream media has no space for mature women, and as a result we miss out on all the beautiful things they have to offer: their charm, experience, eloquence, sexiness, independent thinking... Please bring more women like Lita to this channel, pretty please. They make me feel so inspired and look forward to my older years.
Could not agree more!
I was thinking the same thing. I want to see more older women with wisdom. I think that why I still think about my Great Grandmother. She been gone 35 years. And my Grandmother who has been gone for 5 years. I have been looking for someone that I can sit and listen to.
Have you seen this interview they did with 88yr old Lisl? She’s amazing !! ☺️

@@jewelsbarbie I did, she’s fantastic! 😉
Young women need to be mentored by women of substance like this beauty instead of the Kardashians
Well said!
I love this channel. You're wrong about the Kardashians . They are absolutely fabulous and the epitome of the kind of women who grace this channel. They challenge the norms of society, refuse to be bound by rules of what's right and wrong. Oh yes, and what's really wrong with them?
Absolutely ✅ right
Say it again!!!
We don't have to tear other women down to bring women up. There is enough room for all of us.
she's stunning, both emotionally and physically.
What an in-depth woman.. I’m going to be 68 this year as well and I can tell you this.. you develop such self confidence, knowledge from life’s experience and you really love yourself and you don’t care what anyone thinks of you.. that time has come and gone. My dad once told me: life is your best education… so true!
This woman makes me want to learn so much more. Like wtf am I even doing, and she's figuring out the damn universe. Bravo, she is lovely.
caitlynj0nes I am so late lol but Yes! This is how I felt after watching this 2 years later
@@ms.ajones7168 And me, 6 years later!

& THE Spirit of the Ages
Agree 100 percent.
There is this very fine silk line between eccentricity, creativity, and insanity. She walks that line beautifully. Thank you for the inspiration!#
yes, for us women whose fathers were absent from our lives it does have a profound impact on us on all levels.
Awesome how she found
healing through the exploration of artistic self expression to help cope with the absence of her biological father.
Look
I know I sound super basic but I love the way she dresses and that she wears her hair long and brown with a red lip.
I could listen to you all day. So much light and love 🌹
Inspiring in every way. Real beauty. Substance.

I liked when she said that first so long she was just out there and now shes becoming grounded. I always felt I was taking too long. Hitting middle age and being out there, these stories help me remember I do have a tribe, our connection is just out there🙏
Sooooo someone needs to pen a book about her mother. I'd buy it in a heart beat.

Thanks for being inclusive in this respect too as it's the one aspect I think some channels avoid, regrettably.

She is stunning. So, interesting to listen to these free spirit types. These wonderful artist who think so deep. To have that freedom. Instead of these rigid, straight lives most of us lead. Speaking more for myself here ;0) We need more of these types of interviews with these interesting Woman.
Loved your story, art & family photos!
🐝
Such an enlightened soul from amazing circumstances… I love her energy
I adore how you integrate space to life
Such a lovely spirit ...I can relate as a Artist that feeling of living in the imagination .
Institutionalised in a convent at age three by your Mother. Taught to confess at age three by Catholic disciplined nuns. This woman has transcended earthly pain and gives love and teaching back.
It was typical in Tunisia as with so many other countries, very rich families would put their daughters in a convent or send them to boarding school in 'old' Europe so they wouldn´t be educated among poor locals.
Amazing, crazy, inspiring... Thank you for videos and this wonderful interviews. I LOVE you chanell!
Lita was born January 3, 1946, which makes her 75 years old. This video was made some time ago.

I first heard about her when her studio and house burned in the Malibu Fire over 2 years ago, and decades of her work along with it. I hope she's doing OK now.
