This is the best day in the life video I've seen!! I'm in my final year of a finance degree and have been tossing up to go down an accounting pathway or banking. You've helped me decide that banking/investment/finance is definitely where I see myself. Thanks!
SO much value in this video, I've always been curious and you did a great break down of your packed day. Thank you Sejuty, love to see more video likes this! :)
I have went through so many clips of how people introduce their job and where they are working at, I would say this is one of the most realistic. How many do we see people yawn in their clips? Every job has its prime and boring moment, and I would say this lady kept it real.
Loved the intro...especially the breakdown of money saving. Made me appreciate working from home during the lockdown. Great video for young folks who want to pursue a career in Financial industry.
This job seems so fun :) I unfortunately started my IT degree after I found out I really enjoy value investing (finding the intrinsic value of a company using DCF and other metrics PE, PS, Payout ratio, PB, ext..). Now im trying to figure out where I could fit in the Finance sector, this job seems so exciting :) I also loved the video, stay strong and good luck in your career.
Thank you Jairus. Having an IT background is definitely useful-if its in the software side its extra handy. The trend in finance is all about how to find meaningful data to make investment decisions. You can either go down the ‘quant’ route or work in IT related team in a finance company (then move internally) - i do wish you all the best!
outstanding video - extremely insightful! I must mention that the production quality was incredibly high which lead me to believe that your sub count would be many times larger than what it is! Thank you :)
Hi! Thanks a lot for this. I was wondering what the stress levels associated with analyst roles are and how much time are you able to find for yourself and perhaps your family after it all? I would appreciate your answers as I look forward to entering this industry. Lastly, more power to you.
This was soo helpful!! I’m so thankful for this video! I’m trying to switch careers and get into finance. Your workday seems very busy and it looks like you’re doing a great amount of work for the company. If you don’t mind me asking, how much were you making when you made this video and had this amount of workload? I’d REALLY appreciate your reply. Thank you!
Hi Ben Thanks. Work life balance does depend on role type & company culture. The closer you are to directly deciding on 'money decision' - more stressful it will be. Generally working in research should have better balance than becoming a Fund Manager.
It's happy to see you having my dream job and thank you making a video so we can get a clear understanding... I was looking for a job in finance industry but i have completed my b. Sc in mathematics and after doing my mba in finance i got love on this field. I font know whether am i able to work in these side or do i need still extra certification?
Great Video. I am definitely a new subscriber. I came across this video as part of my research of wanting to move from a client facing roll in the financial industry to an analytical roll. Any tips for some one already in the industry trying to make to switch and get a CFA?
Hey...a switch would be much easier since you're already in the industry. I'd say its easier to move internally (esp if you are working in a big organisation) - so try to keep an eye out for internal roles and in the mean time read up on what skills they require so that you can prove you are serious about the switch during an interview. All the best 😊
Very interesting video! You actually have my dream job. I wish I knew this before I started my studies but only had this passion after I started working and began creating my own stock market portfolio. I love investing and will keep going even though it’s for myself and family. Your super smart, it would be great to talk some ideas with you actually, your very smart. Private message me if that’s a thing on here?
Hello Usually they'd want to know whether your interest is genuine. So being aware of recent news including how policies are impacting market performance etc would be good. Also have basic knowledge of finance. Soft skills such as time management and technical skills such as coding/excel as well
Buy! Sell! Is it like the TV show "Industry" :) ? If someone wanted to get into trading professionally what is more valuable, a positive P+L in a personal trading account or qualifications?
Thanks Sourav...and yes definitely some programming is key (many roles now expect candidates to have it) - the demand is equally split between R and python (i know some python)
Very helpful video! It really is difficult to find details of analyst roles just through searching online. Do you have any suggestions or advice for a CV/Resume when applying?
when applying just make sure you always add a small personal statement at top of your cv to say why and how you fit into the role you are applying for.
What do you think is a good degree to study at uni if I want to apply for a role in the investment industry ? What type of job (and how) did u apply first after leaving uni?
Great video! I wanted to ask, does the university you do your Bsc Economics degree matter? Are you more likely to be employed if you do this degree at a more prestigious university?
Thank you Amran. In theory it shouldnt matter. But if you are starting out fresh and targeting well known companies they might prefer prestigious university…some companies will specify such requirement on their spec. But once you start working… those info starts to matter less & less.
Hi Sejuty. I have always wondered what analysts do and it looks something I would really love to do. I have a degree in Economics and Statistics from a different country which is comparable to a UK degree. Can you please make a video of what you need to get into that role?
Thanks for the reply. It’s so encouraging. I just went into a different path but it really disappoints me not to do something I really loved. Maybe I will have to go for a masters and start from there😠
I’m sure it’s not too late. You shouldn’t have to do a masters just to change track (although im not sure where you live). Keep looking and at interviews explain why you want to change sector.
This was a very insightful video!! It gave me a clear picture of what financial analysts actually do but I still have some doubts . Maybe we could connect somewhere so that i can clear them Thanks in advance :)

Hello mam. I wanted to ask about the use of formulas. Do u have to copy the formula and input the financial value to calculate. Or do u somtimes have to make ur own formula? I am thinking of persuing MBAFinance so just seeking ur advice.
Hey Yash - most of the time formulas are set by the team and it requires updating. But for the first the model will need to be set which will require writing the formulas.
Hi! I came across of your video while i am browsing the you tube my name is Cipriano S. Medes from the Phils. it was very timely because I have a daughter taking up a Financial Analyst and on 3rd Year this SY 2021 - 22 already soon to graduate on year 2022 - 23 and she doing a report on Business Research regarding Financial Course and she was encountering a hard time of finding or researching what to report because the first report their group submitted was rejected by their teacher because it was not challenging enough or not related to a financial course. Citing above with the experience you have i will share this video to her just to have an idea of what was the financial analyst do same apply to my daughter when she take the course of a financial analyst she had no clue of what it meant to be a financial analyst. With the actual experience you have as a financial analyst my daughter will have an idea and be guided and what to expect, learn from your experience and be prepared to take an exam to be a CFA ( Certified Financial Analyst ) once my daughter have graduated . Thank You for posting your day in life as a financial analyst
hi Gus, to certain degree there will be presenting. This is because you will have to present analysis to a group of fund managers/other analysts on a reoccurring basis. The audience can vary, but if you feel uncomfortable talking to big group im sure your manager/company will understand. everyone is different and now there are alot of support/understanding for people. All i will say is once you start working you begin to build a good working relation with your colleagues you'll automatically feel comfortable. I also dont do well talking front of large audience. but what really helps is to really prepare ahead of a meeting and think of possible questions that may come your way. what i found is that by building a close one to one working relationship with other colleagues helps me talk about my ideas to them.
I’m a student with ACCA and did accounting and financial information systems. I seriously want to become financial analyst. At uni I did a lot of designing finance modelling, budgeting and forecasting . Just wanted to know how I can make that jump?
Thanks. I think companies value engineering background very much… and as financial analyst you can specialise in sector/stock with your engineering knowledge too. So should be good 👍
thank you so much. It has really given me a lot of information. Im a current economics student having finished my first year and wanted to ask if my grades really matter while applying for a summer internship in a company?
hey Rahul so in the video i spoke about technical & soft skills needed in the industry and gave a table on base salary & potential bonus. what types of skills & package are you keen to know more of?
Depends on type of information & how you got it. If its a publicly available information then its not...otherwise it will be i think. If i doubt, always consult your company's compliance team 😊
Thank you for great insight. I'm a employee in the NHS, I would like to make a switch to financial analyst. What qualifications your recommend? ACCA first for recognition? Or CFA, IMC (Entry level 4)?
hi Mantas, To start as a financial analyst I'd sat ACA or CFA. After landing your job your hiring company should naturally pay towards IMC. My company paid for my CFA exams. If you don't have finance related degree and need to restart from an entry level then you can look at apprenticeships level. Or it might be easier to first enter a company in different roles (which doesnt require criteria of financial analyst) and then move internally. All the best :)
@@TheSubtleInvestor Thank you for your reply. I will take a note of doing relevant apprenticeships in the near future. I'm upon completing my Accounting & Finance degree currently on placement year and should be graduating in 2022. Received an offer from the employer, but I'm a bit concerned in joining to a private industry from a public healthcare. Do you think MSc in Finance is necessary if sitting a CFA exam? Based on my research CFA level 1 is equivalent to MSc course.
Hey -dont worry about the transition to private sector…it may feel different but it will be okay. I personally dont think MSc is necessary if you are doing CFA (cost + time not worth it if you dont wanna go into academia)

Hello! I did my bcom finance in India. And I am planning to do msc International finance at Chester University in Uk.How is the scope of job opportunities in Uk after my masters. Is it a difficult field to get job.Should I want to do CFA after masters?
Hi Once you study here it should’nt be too difficult although its a competitive market. Try to apply for internships during your masters and attend job fairs. Alot of successful people get job before graduation! Your employer should pay for your CFA - no need to do it before. Either way you need at least 4 years relevant work experience to use the CFA designation
Hi - yes sometimes different valuation model are used based on the company being analysed. People tend to look at third party/sell side research who applies various models and then compare
I'm starting an entry level Financial Analyst role exactly next week and I understood almost nothing from this video. Holy crap I'm screwed 😀 Nonetheless, great video! Was very informative!
Thanks a lot, this was really useful. Could you please tell me whether it matters from which university I get my Finance degree when trying to get in to the investment industry in the UK?
Hey..i dont think it matters much which university you went to. As long as you can prove yourself during interview and have a strong application you'll be fine 😊
great video mam, I am also interested in finance. Iam on my final year of graduation (BBA). I am planning to do CFA. Which would be better, doing it right after graduation or taking an MBA .
i'd think first start a graduate job in a finance company and then get your company to pay towards CFA (study while working) and you should be done in 3 years plus get the required work experience. You cannot use the CFA designation without 4 years of work experience anyway :)

Once you study here it should’nt be too difficult although its a competitive market. Try to apply for internships during your masters and attend job fairs. Alot of successful people get job before graduation! Your employer should pay for your CFA - no need to do it before. Either way you need at least 4 years relevant work experience to use the CFA designation
@@TheSubtleInvestor Unfortunately my university doesn't offering internship. Is it difficult to get job after studies with out relevant experience?
I'm an introvert, am I suitable for this job.

Thank you for your reply 😊
What a levels do I need to be able to be an investment analyst? If you have an idea
In terms of A levels there aren’t any ‘must have’. However, it will easier if you study Maths, Economics & Accounting
great video mam, I am also interested in finance.
Per month or per annum
