#PenPalfam you are the best YT Fam, never forget!
Im so glad that you reacted to this song. From it's eastern influence to the majesty of the heavenly choirs and church organ. This is a musical masterpiece in every respect. It takes multiple listens to fully appreciate and understand this extraordinary composition. To think that 5 guys sat in a studio in Switzerland and wrote this is nothing short of amazing. It just shows that in 1977, amidst the onset of punk rock, there were artists still writing works of art...and not being influenced by the trends of the day. Yes has to be one of the best bands ever conceived, there skill as song writers and virtuoso musicians is all too evident in this extraordinary song. On behalf of all yes fans ...thank you so much for keeping there legacy alive and letting the younger generation experience and hear the music of Yes.
Just "Close your eyes and listen." As most of us Yes fans well know, Yes music requires the listener to immerse themselves, with repeated listenings, and within the privacy of one's own head; therefore to allow the music to carry you on a journey within one's own soul. With Peace and Love to all! (Michael)
So beautiful! Yes composed so many gorgeous songs over the decades. Thank you for this Blessing! 😊
Thanks for listening! I appreciate your support of this channel!
Bless you for listening to my favourite piece of music ever....🖖🎼🎶🎵
You found Yes's most ethereal song! It's so heavenly, and it makes sense, since that's what it's about. Soaring high above the clouds.
YOU DID IT! HOLY GRAIL of modern music
I was 13 when this strucked me and totally blow my mind away 47 years ago.... And there you are, a wonderful being lovin this. I met Jon Anderson the singer 2001, told him Yes music will live in generations to come... And here you are a soulfully amazing beautiful young woman lovin it and proven it!!!
Yes and the divine 🙏🍁

This epic song never fails to let my spirit soar!!
❤️❤️
Magnificent.
Absolutely Love your Reactions especially when you listen to anything from YES🎧👀
Yes wrote several uplifting songs but Awaken is at the top of the tree. This song has such a strong positive emotional impact and is now nearly 50 years old (if you can believe that). Yes were masters of being able to strip their tunes back to just a few instruments to put focus into those quiet sections then after build the song up and up to even greater highs. The lead singer Jon Anderson has always sounded like that from the 1970s till now. If you are interested in seeing how such an epic is put together live I recommend Jon Anderson and Todmobile 2013. It is a jaw dropping ride.
Now you need to listen to Gates of Delirium.
Your YES journey is not finished.
Awaken is definitely a masterpiece, one of their greatest compositions, one of many. Thank you for sharing your reaction. It is always wonderful to see new people discover beautiful music.
Thankyou so much for listening to this epic piece
I have listened for decades and it still gives me goose bumps, Jon Andersons Angelic voice and the souring guitars backed up by the bass, for me its Rick Wakeman's keys and the church organ just get me every time, still wonderful after all these years
Thanks Blessing❤❤
yes sounds mystical here !
You are so insightful and could actually (physically) see your person and spirit react. It was a pleasure watching your reaction. Such a magnificent song.
Wow, that's amazing how you expressed your self in this comment! What a heartfelt comment. Thanks
One of my prized possessions is the programme from this tour. The lyrics from this song are reproduced with artwork by Jon Anderson. I can still see the dry ice with green laser lights.
🔥🔥🔥
I loved that you equated the feeling to a good massage Blessing!
JonAnderson (vocalist, lyricist): "It's a spiritual song where Anderson is singing to what he calls "The master of our existence." These themes of enlightenment and seeking your higher self are a touchstone of Anderson's lyrics. He got the idea for this song after reading the book The Singer: A Classic Retelling of Cosmic Conflict by Calvin Miller. The book tells the story of God through the eyes of a troubadour."
Hi Fred🎉
For me this song is always like a big prayer. I used to like to meditate on it. (or something similar) Nowadays I'm unfortunately too jittery for that. But I'm still pleasantly surprised at how round the song sounds, even though the musicians dance through various keys at absolutely skewed time signatures.
It's always fun to watch someone as they have a spiritual experience. :)
Just watching you enjoy this awesome music made it even better..
wow, what a great reaction. You felt it lady
I appreciate you joining the premiere 🎉
What a journey, eh. So glad you enjoyed it like you did.
My favourite Yes piece of Music.
Masterpiece. Genius.
🎶❤️🎶
Awwh happy you are here
Excellent observations; this composition covers a lot of ground for spiritual renewal.
Most perfect reaction ever!
This is cool to see live with an orchestra and choir.
Yes, she needs to see the performance of this with Jon Anderson and Todmobile. Astounding.
Love your choices. I was traveling through Europe with friends (70’s) when we stumbled across Rick Wakeman recording pipe organ parts (for this album, your listening to here) in a beautiful church in Switzerland. Recording trucks and cables down the street. Everyone there knew, Yes was in town and there to work. The “Going For The One” vinyl I have is a nice reminder of some great times. Have seen some great Yes shows over the yrs, it’s uncanny how talented most lineups of the group have been. Trevor Rabin studio and live stuff as well. 90210 Regards
Awaken is one of my two favorites yes songs (with Close to the Edge). These musicians were virtuosis (specialy Steve Howe on guitars, Rick Wakeman on keys and the late Chris Squier on bass). And, on a personnal note, you are extremely beautiful when you feel the music. P.S. Sorry for my English, I'm a French Canadian...
Your English is great! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦
@@MrsPenPal Merci...
Loved it Yes. There’s so much more. This, Close to the Edge, and Gates of Delirium are the big 3 for me. ❤
Jon Anderson had just released Olias of Sunhillow and the use of harp in the middle section is beautiful. The choir was arranged by Rick Wakeman and the Swiss Church Organ was the cathedral feel. Great insight from you again on a first listen amazing.
😇😇🎉🙏
@@MrsPenPal if only I was emoji literate. Thanks all the same 😊
🤣🤣🤣 you are HILARIOUS ha ha emoji Illiterate that cracked me up thanks for that good laugh
Nice hair..... glad you dug this wonderful music.....
What could we add, Blessing? You said it all.. Singing, chanting, adoration, vulnerability, surrender.. The human meeting the Divine.. Can only be experienced..
Wow I appreciate you!
It's probably the last great Yes masterpiece and that's no criticism of the band, just because it's over 45 years ago. It still sounds current to me. And Jon Anderson sounds pretty much the same too!
Today I reviewed, I think that all your reactions to yes songs, I concluded that you know music and appreciate music, I loved it!
Thanks Ed! happy to see you are having a great time!
I think you will also appreciate Close to the Edge, this was an epic piece from their 5th album 1972, and was their first deep foray into spiritual themes. It is a monumental achievement and features some of their most sublime moments. The release that followed, Tales from Topographic Oceans, was also deep into esoteric ideas and themes. I have grown to love YES more over the years for their exuberant, uplifting sound and philosophy. No other rock band has gone there.
Yes I have close to the edge reaction for Yes:
ua-cam.com/video/WZQbAx-Ap6I/v-deo.html
Awaken is the star song of hope. More so than Soon, Awaken exudes hopefulness in being abducted out of this sick and hopeless world. Im looking forward to bidding this awful world farewell.
Tales From Topographic Oceans is the finest music ever written or recorded in all music history. And Ritual is the deepest and longest love song in all music history.
Relayer is the greatest concept album ever made because the concept is The Relayer between God and the human species.
And Close To The Edge is the greatest progressive rock song that no other artist can top, though Yes tried very hard several times to top it. The rest of that album set Yes up beautifully for what was to come soon thereafter.
It's always a pleasure to watch your reactions.
Wow thank you!
Your reaction to my favorite song of all music history results in immediate subscription to your channel. Awaken is the star song of hope. That hope being the rapture of the bride of Christ. Doesn't get better than that. But other events come close. The wedding feast in Suppers Ready by Genesis is just one of several events. I'm happy to watch your journey onward.
One of the best songs by the greatest bands on this or any other planet. Now you need to learn NOT to pause YES, EVER!!!! Thank you!!😎
Now that you have heard the original, you need to watch the video for the 2013 version that Jon Anderson did with Tod Mobile in Iceland. It is truly magical.
Jon and Rick's favourite Yes song. A song fit for entering the gates of heaven
I feel it in my Heart... This is a Love song to God...
The working title when they were writing it was "Eastern Number" so it has more of that kind vibe to me.
Such a wonderful innocence, an emotional natural reaction to musical timeless genius. Welcome to my world, young lady. X. PS you will find as you age your emotional responses to this music strengthen I.e. I never fail to fill up with tears every single time I hear this nowadays.
agree
The power in the end of this song always makes me tear up
Dear friend, you are so connected in body and soul. That's it Yes.
They open the door and let the solar winds blow through their hands and into their hearts.
Go on listen to the south side of the sky and you will see the heart of the sunrise appear !
ULTIMATE YES in a state of BLISS
There is an early version of AWAKEN called EASTERN SKIES. It's found on the remastered CD Going for the One album. It's also found on an unreleased demo album from 1979 called Golden Age on which the sound isn't top quality but OK. Eastern Skies missing certain parts by way of them not being fully expanded like the AWAKEN version but is worth a listen. Also a few instrument changes.
Yes does that ethnic vibe so well! The middle of Roundabout does that. It's like suddenly your part of an elephant caravan across the Sahara or somewhere in the. Himalayas. Check out Siberian Khatru or Southside of the Sky. Thanks for your reactions. You either get this band or not.
Beautiful Queen, I'm glad you got to experience this song.
If you check out "Loved by The Sun" by Tangarine Dream. It is from an old 80s movie Legend. Beautiful gorgeous song that the main singer to this band Yes, Jon Anderson does the lead vocals on! You definitely will not be disappointed
YES always takes you on a cosmic journey !
The part you say is "triangle" to me always evokes an Arabian-outer space feel. Also as great as Jon is a singer, Chris Squire, the bassist blended amazing vocal harmonies with him. The other trick is the keys, the guitar and the bass will often take turns matching or harmonizing with him too.
💯
A church organ was heavily used on the album. Recorded separately and added to the master mix.
Another of the many classics from my favorite band. You seem like an awesome person. I'm glad I stumbled on to your channel. 😊❤
Yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, yes, YES! 😄
Hi Russ! Thanks for your support of this channel!

5:28 Chris Squire. Genius. Who would make a bass line like that? Who? Seriously could you envision or imagine that bass line? Absolute genius. Master. Probably better than even Geddy or Jaco.
Came back to revisit your reaction. You're very focussed, and you clearly know what's going on (more than I do anyway). I noticed you have an amazing voice yourself, very unique and versatile!
Hi Regularvegetable! Wow this comment is so heart warming. Re-watches are awesome! I have a new song coming up in my 2nd channel here is a teaser, you can subscribe to me there too ua-cam.com/users/shortsQ-J0unftSdk?feature=share
I’m not religious but whenever I feel I lost my way this brings me back to my faith THANK YOU YES
YES is universe....❤
Great song. Thanks for reacting and love your hair!
Awwh thank you for watching!
@@MrsPenPal You're so welcome. Love watching your reactions!
Saw this song performed in 1990, front row in a stadium in Munich. It was about as close to a religious experience I’ve ever had. Just beautiful.
My son woke up as I was watching this live. I’ll catch the rest later ❤🎉
It is about to go down!
Hi Rutssy always lovely to see you!
@@MrsPenPal Thank you Blessing. Always lovely to see you too!
What a Beautiful Lady
Oh wow thanks
This song reminds me of Heaven
🔥♥🔥
✨✨✨
On UA-cam there is also a making of...... video for this entire album. Bit ropey in places but worth a watch.
If you react to Gates of Delirium, you must understand in advance it's a musical interpretation of Tolstoy's War and Peace, in 3 parts: lead up to battle, The Battle, after the battle. Otherwise it's too much 😂🙏
😭😂
Yes! ❤
You really should try to react to Pain Of Salvation. The passing light of day. Very emotionel and personal song
Check out "The Gates of Delirium" on the Relayer album. Don't do a live version. It's about war. Don't stop the song so much. Once or twice that's it. Do the review at the end.
To Awaken …. With Yes…
Some say Bach's B minor mass is evidence for the existence of the divine. For me, that evidence is _Awaken._
Rick Wakeman played on a real church organ on this song.
I would imagine you're likely to like the Revealing Science of God given your obvious appreciation of the spiritual aspects of Yes or maybe in the same vein In the Presence of from Yes Symphonic Live.
One of Yes best. You must also get into Genesis and also Phil Collins.
This was a reaction to the punk movement attacking
Can you name 2 other rock bands that has the same sound far as lead singer goes? Rush and Super Tramp.
