The death of Concorde story always saddened me. They flew 28 years straight without any single accident whatsoever, and then another plane's accidental debris (that wasn't cleaned from the runway because apparently no one knows that the debris was there) brought Concorde to its first and last accident, which was also fatal for everyone on board and four people in the hotel it came crushed into. 😢 I know that nobody and nothing is perfect in this world, but Concorde was basically flawless for almost 3 decades. And now nobody dared to try something so cool like that again... Flying with Concorde used to be many people's childhood dreams...
The Concorde had 80 safety deficiencies for today's passenger transport airworthines. It was a ticking bomb, bad redundance systems and an aerodinamic that only works at high speed. Take off and landing was a critical issue and forget about gliding with this thing, on engine fail it falls down like a stone.

In fairness the Concorde flew for 28 years, halving the flight time between Europe and the U.S. east coast. In its 28 years of operation there was one fatal accident, occurring in 2000, that was actually caused by parts falling off the plane that took off before it. The planes were all pulled from service following the accident until an investigation could be completed. While they did return to service for a couple of years after the accident and investigation they never returned to profitability and were finally decommissioned in 2003. There were a great number of engineering discoveries made during the development process that are still relevant today. A very expensive megaproject for sure but certainly not useless.
Also the event of 9/11 that followed with the boeings caused Airlines around the world to drop drastically on Wall Street as moral to air travel took a hit and would take years to recover. Security had to be heavily invested in and losses had to be cut so since Concorde was costing more per flight and not able to attract the numbers as other flights struggled at the time it was the final nail in the coffin.

FYI : though Concorde was not a commercial success, the development of that aircraft along with it engines have permit the discovery of several technologies which were used afterwards for commercial and military aircraft. It served R&D's of several new components, new metal alloys among several other discoveries that have been beneficial to the aircraft industry at large.
24:55 something you didn't mention about the Concord is how tight a fit it was inside, the seats were small and the windows were tiny, if you were over about 5' 5" tall you had to like bend down to walk down the aisle, it was very claustrophobic. I got a tour of the inside of one but I really really wanted to go on a flight, and I missed out on a ticket giveaway by about 10 people. In the summer of 1998 I believe it was virgin but it could have been British Caledonia airlines was giving away two tickets per person to take the Concorde round trip from Los Angeles to London, you had to come dressed up as an alien from another planet, there were no rules for halibut the costumes had to be and they had 50 sets of two tickets. There were people that were going to a store and purchasing a pair of flippers and coming back and say that they're from a water planet and their entire costume was a pair of swim fins, but because initially they didn't have anybody that came in costume everybody that showed up in the first 50 people won a set of tickets. I found out about it I grabbed some stuff to make a quick costume and when I got there I was about the 60th person. I was very disappointed, they gave me one of the consolation prizes which was a hat, and it wasn't even a Concorde hat it was I want to say British Caledonian airways hat.
It is not a Concorde faulty part that ended the aircraft to engulfed in flames but a metal strip from a Continental Airlines aircraft that preceded Concorde for take off. That strip of metal came from the left wing due to faulty maintenance procedures that was supposed to cut cost for Continental. It actually cost the lives of 113 persons from which 109 were onboard and 4 other were on the ground.
This mall is amazing, I was just there last month and the fact he stated that lots of stores are empty is very untrue, they are doing more construction to add even more stores and event space.
It's actually a VERY nice mall. I'm usually there a couple of times per year. It's definitely underutilized and underpatronized so, I dont see it last much longer. Nice mall that opened up about 20 years too late.
i've seen a lot about malls closing or just barely surviving lately, and people are always sad, or state "i loved that place" but it's almost never "i shopped at that place" it's usually that they went there and walked around, but didn't actually buy anything... which means no $$ for the stores, so of course they close.... so are people actually shopping at the mall? or just walking around?
If you make a third instalment of this series, can I suggest the “neon waves” in Cumbernauld, Scotland. They look ugly, cost millions & were only turned on once & the bright lights were a hazard to drivers. They were built to attract more people to travel through Cumbernauld & it’s just another ugly eyesore. Also the shopping centre is falling apart, roof is caving in & has almost hit people. No shops staying due to the extremely high rent & council not fixing the damage. The council spends money on useless things like statues to try get folk visiting, when the roads, shops & housing are all falling apart.
Hello! Architecture student here. In one of my classes I had to look at a randomly assigned Serpentine Pavilion (a yearly architecture exhibit where the world's best architecture firms design a temporary pavilion to sit next to the Serpentine Gallery, London) and design a cafe based on it. I was, unfortunately, assigned a pavilion by none other than MVRDV, the same architects behind Marble Arch Mound. And you'll never guess what their pavilion was... It was a geometric artificial hill over the gallery, that, I kid you not, looked like a plastic mountain with a tunnel for a kids train set. It turns out that MVRDV has a thing for artificial hills. Their pavilion, luckily, never got built because it was too expensive. Also, luckily for me, all the tutors agreed that I could be reassigned because the pavilion (a) was never built, and (b) was ugly and they all hated it.
16:10 That appears toi be a standard procedure for China to "help" developing countries: 1: Provide a plan for a new port or roadway. 2: Offer generous financing for the project described in item 1. 3: The financing agreement has two major stipulations. 3a: The project must use Chinese companies for the labor and Chinese vendors for the supplies. 3b: The project itself and the land it sits on is the collateral for the financing. 4: This means that china is paying ITSELF to build the project, AND that the project AND the land becomes Chinese property if(when) the 'hosting country' defaults on the loan. It's a sneaky way to do 'mini-invasions,' and to set up Chinese-friendly ports all over the Third World.
The EU saved them for now because they didn't want China to claim land in Europe, but we'll see what the future brings, because the politicians there are incomprehensibly corrupt.
You'd be nuts to have signed off on this as a Montenegro official. China gets your port? All arbitration in a Chinese court? Most construction built by Chinese companies? My husband, our kids, and I, went to the mall in New Jersey in April 2021. We were on vacation in New York City, and I really thought my kids would fall in love with NYC, like their dad and I, but they were not impressed lol It also didn't help that the stores closed around 7pm because of Covid restrictions. Anyways, I was trying to find something fun to do with them and came across the waterpark in the mall, so we went. The waterpark was sooooo boring and a hugeeee waste of money. The wave pool takes up the entire space, the lazy river was super tiny, they had like 4 slides, 2 of which were for toddlers, so my kids were too old to use and the other 2 were huge. My husband went down the biggest and ended up with a massive bruise on his back and butt. He has extremely tough skin and never bruises, so I know that ride was not pleasant. The worst part was we paid around $350 for just day passes!!! Now as for the rest of the mall, it was amazing and was actually very busy, even with Covid restrictions. The ice rink was a blast, and the amusement park is right next to the entrance of the waterpark. It looked like it would have been a lot of fun, much more than the waterpark. We didn't do the slopes, but we watched, and it was amazing. The slope was no black diamond, but it was a very decent size. They also had the practice bunny hill. We ended up liking the mall so much, we went back to explore the rest of it, the next day. I would be at the mall all the time, if it were near me, in Ohio.
Wasn't the crash that wiped out the soviet pacific fleet command caused by them demanding bringing way too many personal effects onboard? Like luxury beds and huge rolls of paper that weren't secured and all that stuff that caused the engines to be way overtaxed and slow down like a Dovakiin that picked one too many flowers? Or am I thinking of a completely different crash that wiped out a bunch of soviet VIPs?
yes, all the shit and extra passengers the higher ups demanded the pilot to load and bring causes the plane to be VERY overloaded it was the weight that caused the crash not the plane itself.

I remember all "The Line" talk. It wa upsetting that people actually thought the green energy was a good thing when people should know all green energy has a dark black underbelly of corruption. And when the line first broke ground, 6 people were murdered for terrorism for not moving. So 6 (maybe more) people died for a project that was corrupt and not even working.
My Son and I love your videos. He insisted on having me buy your poster for his room using his allowance money. Just arrived today. Keep up the good work, we will keep watching! Thank you.
The American Dream Mall also charges $40 for parking. People will not pay to park jsut to park at a place where they will then pay for everything else on site. Not to mention it's in no-man's-land, there's only one exit leading to it and the nearest cities by car are about a 30 minute drive
@@feliciawilson6073 Ah sorry, I don't know the true parking cost. I may have just received some hyperbolized prices from friends who went and were disappointed.
I have to admit, I kind of LIKE the concept of The Line. As far as futuristic cities go, I think a 'donut" shape with a circling train system would be preferable to me at least.
Another factor to Concorde's failure was the skyrocketing of fuel costs in 70-80's. Also concorde burned fuel during takeoffs and landings, which would cost alot, so they made Concorde fly at subsonic speeds and that was the final nail to the coffin. I still love the aircraft and its uniqueness, such a legendary plane.❤❤❤
I was going to make a joke about how the TU-104 was the Society Boeing, but whoever designed it should be given a medal and made an American hero. What a K/D
17:29 the lighting could also pose a problem to those that are light/flash sensitive, and with no ability to stop and get an ambulance in there, it could prove fatal depending on everything. Same as a sudden heart attack or other emergency.
The operators of Concorde had been looking for a reason to stop them flying. Very costly and increasing noise complaints and decreasing passenger numbers meant they wanted an excuse to stop the flights. They got one.
I gleefully envision a system of circus cannons spaced all around our great country, ready to loft individual passengers wherever they want to go at a moment's notice! Nets neatly spaced all around to catch you and prepare you for the next leg of your trip -- and clowns to take your money, punch your ticket, and reassemble your luggage after it bounces around in the net that snagged it out of the air! Oh, wait . . .isn't that how the existing air transportation system works?
Idea for a future video? Not a “mega project” but a fairly well known tourist attraction in Melbourne Australia called “The Melbourne Eye” or the “Melbourne Star Observation Wheel” has a very…notorious history especially amongst the locals. 😅 I think it might belong in one of your videos. 😆
Some problems with the TU-104 : NO air brakes, NO flaps, meaning insane take off and landing speed. Imagine landing a jet liner at the take off speed of a fully loaded fighter jet. Then, the cargo hold lacked proper anchoring for it's content, leading to uncontrolled load shift, often resulting in crashes. It was derived from a bomber.
The main reason Concorde failed is high fuel cost and lack of demand for high speed travel. People don't generally need to reduce atlantic fight from 10 hours to 3 hours, but they would like to spend less money.
Also something in regards to the TEB, if it had worked and people were using it, then it should have reduced the traffic making it obsolete. Something that just getting busses and encouraging their use would already do at a fraction of their cost.
The concord was a testament of what we should not do even if we can with better planning and better tires(Michelin) we might still use them today 22:27
you should include the panthers practice stadium that failed in south Carolina, in the next part...not only is the project just sitting, but it caused the rent increases that eventually ended up being for no reason
I don't think so either. Would need to restrict the height of other vehicles using the road of course. Oh, and because it runs on rails doesn't necessarily mean it's technically a train. Vehicles that run on rails on roads are called 'trams'.
Concord did make quite a few journeys. I knew someone who went on it. However towards the end of its life, there were quite a few crashes, which caused it to be taken out of service permanently.
I can understand the idea of the line, that mega citty. With eveything built in a line as is designed, you do not need as many pulic transportation routes to get anywhere. 1 train and that is it, or 2 one within the area and the other a longer distance train to get around quicker
It looked SOOO COOL. But it would be more useful in a place like China that a) possesses far more money and B) possesses far more people, many of whom live in terrible conditions.
I remember the days before sonic booms were banned over land. I was may 8 or 9 and visiting my oldest sister at MSU for little sisters weekend. We were in an elevator at Fee Hall when a sonic boom hit the building… and the elevator stopped working. We were only stuck a few minutes before they got the elevator running, but it was just one of several reasons for the ban. If you were outside though they were cool.
Not fair the way you treated the Concorde: the sonic waves can naturally happen outside populated areas, they do not just take off and acheive mach speeds immediately. Its main failure came from USA's new flight regulations, created just to kill Concorde's viability... Sales could have kept the project alive and in the crease. It was a beautiful bird.
I swear, ludicrous public transit ideas are the best scam to pitch to governments and rich investors, because they've probably never taken public transit themselves.

As a dead mall fanatic, the American Dream mall is a place I really want to visit.
Yes, actually this mall is decent.
i've seen a lot about malls closing or just barely surviving lately, and people are always sad, or state "i loved that place" but it's almost never "i shopped at that place" it's usually that they went there and walked around, but didn't actually buy anything... which means no $$ for the stores, so of course they close.... so are people actually shopping at the mall? or just walking around?

16:10 That appears toi be a standard procedure for China to "help" developing countries:
1: Provide a plan for a new port or roadway.
And on top of that, these Chinese projects fall apart quickly. What could have possessed the Montenegrins to have entered into such a Faustian pact?
@@AlistairKiwialthough it can not be proven most probably they bribed some politicians to let them have this project and terms. At the end EU saved them, but no one I convinced they won't try this again...
The fact that that Concord plane crashed because of a stray Boeing piece is just infuriating.

"slow down like a Dovakiin that picked one too many flowers",😂🎉

05:49 - The American Dream Meadowlands Mall in New Jersey boasts everything from ski slopes to aquariums. Yet, it’s struggling to attract the projected 40 million annual visitors. Did someone miscalculate, or is the Shrek water park just not cutting it?
I remember all "The Line" talk. It wa upsetting that people actually thought the green energy was a good thing when people should know all green energy has a dark black underbelly of corruption. And when the line first broke ground, 6 people were murdered for terrorism for not moving. So 6 (maybe more) people died for a project that was corrupt and not even working.
I just wanted to say thanks for the lovely content .I appreciate you bro.
My Son and I love your videos. He insisted on having me buy your poster for his room using his allowance money. Just arrived today. Keep up the good work, we will keep watching! Thank you.
Fun fact: the TU104s biggest issue was the windows that couldn’t withstand the pressure and would easily crack and create weak spots in the metal.
That's just one in a whole litany of issues with the TU-104, an aircraft that all in power knew was deathly flawed, yet did *nothing* to fix.
The American Dream Mall also charges $40 for parking. People will not pay to park jsut to park at a place where they will then pay for everything else on site. Not to mention it's in no-man's-land, there's only one exit leading to it and the nearest cities by car are about a 30 minute drive
I didnt pay that much for parking. but yeah that's a super deterrent!

I love your vids mate ❤️

Hot damn BA, yet ANOTHER banger!! When will this madness end!? Never. I hope the answer is never.
The Line is still under construction.
0:35 I don’t think anyone actually enjoys transport though.
The Line city seems like a great idea for a dystopian/utopian YA novel/movie.
So many good options for the worst. I don't know which to pick but this was a great video 🤙
Idea for a future video?
Not a “mega project” but a fairly well known tourist attraction in Melbourne Australia called “The Melbourne Eye” or the “Melbourne Star Observation Wheel” has a very…notorious history especially amongst the locals. 😅
I think it might belong in one of your videos.
British Airways Concorde was very profitable,Air France always lost money.
Also something in regards to the TEB, if it had worked and people were using it, then it should have reduced the traffic making it obsolete.
Something that just getting busses and encouraging their use would already do at a fraction of their cost.
The house i grew up in was below a concorde flight path, man that thing was LOUD!!!
The concord was a testament of what we should not do even if we can with better planning and better tires(Michelin) we might still use them today 22:27
11:08. It should be CO2(the 2 should be down). You Had One Job!
you should include the panthers practice stadium that failed in south Carolina, in the next part...not only is the project just sitting, but it caused the rent increases that eventually ended up being for no reason
The TEB actually isn’t that bad of an idea. It just needs some real improvements
I don't think so either. Would need to restrict the height of other vehicles using the road of course. Oh, and because it runs on rails doesn't necessarily mean it's technically a train. Vehicles that run on rails on roads are called 'trams'.
I like how Turning Torso is at the start of the video. It is a really cool skyscraper.
My question about the Hyperloop is how they deal with inertial force.
Shooting to 700+mph will put a lot of force on the body, even if done slowly.
gotta love concord double entendre going on here 😂
Concord did make quite a few journeys. I knew someone who went on it. However towards the end of its life, there were quite a few crashes, which caused it to be taken out of service permanently.
Only one as far as I know. Where can I read about the others?
INCLUDE:
China Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC) + Gawadar Port (world's deepest port)
22:27 no... no... no... no... NO that is NOT breaking the sound barrier. It's called sound compression and takes advantage of the doppler effect.
I can understand the idea of the line, that mega citty. With eveything built in a line as is designed, you do not need as many pulic transportation routes to get anywhere. 1 train and that is it, or 2 one within the area and the other a longer distance train to get around quicker
It looked SOOO COOL. But it would be more useful in a place like China that a) possesses far more money and B) possesses far more people, many of whom live in terrible conditions.
it seems that everything that contains Concord in the title is doomed to fail. Concord Jet, Costa Concordia, Concord the Game.
18:10. I live in Las Vegas and have taken The Loop from Resorts World to the Convention Center. I assure you, The Loop is much safer than a Vegas bus.

I love your vids❤❤
