Thank you so much for reviewing my movie :-) Almost ten years on and people are still wanting to talk about it, I love it! Not Tolkien but I'll plug my fantasy series Ren: The Girl with the Mark, also on UA-cam. We've improved a bit since BoH ;-)
Hey, thanks for chiming in! Movie reviews aren’t exactly my thing, but it was definitely nice to be able to start with one that didn’t invert the plot!
Hi there! We are currently working on our own independent streaming platform and are still looking for new projects. Would you be interested in having your project on there too? You can send us an email at contact@grabyourpopcorn.net Thanks so much!! :)
Hey, you said my name! :D and pretty good pronunciation, by the way hahahaha. I really enjoyed the video, thanks for taking the time to watch the film and review it.
I watched this movie in college and researched it. The costumes and makeup work was a mix. The folks at Weta (Peter Jackson's company) heard about this indie film in pre-production and offered some of the extra, unused, masks and surviving costumes from the LoTR movies. So on that level they were very much in line with the LoTR movies aesthetics. If my memory serves me well, they actually had a Weta (makeup?) artist or consultant on set to help them through filming.
I forgot to link the playlist on the main channel for the company that put Born of Hope together (really it's one woman named Kate Madison). I'll link it below incase you want to check it out. It's been a long time since I looked at it, but I remember it being mostly film related, though I think here is a portion that discusses Tolkien's work and the scriptwriting of the film. Either way, there are some really interesting things in this playlist. ua-cam.com/video/qINwCRM8acM/v-deo.html
BeoXS Gaming wow I wish this was true. You're correct that Richard Taylor found out about the film and we did get a care package of one set of plastic chainmail, two legs, two arms and a hood. We cut the legs up and maxed the use of the pieces. Unfortunately we didn't have any costumes or prosthetics etc from the original film. Just a bunch of different era reenactors as extras and a lot of very talented volunteers. Up and coming makeup artists and talented artists who sculpted original masks for us.
My apologies. It has been a long time since I watched the film (and got about a dozen other Tolkien nerds to view it). In retrospect it's also been about 5 years, 3 cities, a few jobs, and more than a couple nights sleep ago. I was going on (apparently faulty) memory.
Death by arrow to the face that sucks and I'm sure boromir would be happy to know that wasn't his fate if he could forsee cause id imagine it would suck most greatly
@@TolkienLorePodcast , you pronounced it 'ay-es-thetic' instead of 'ess-thetic'. :) We all make these mistakes from time to time. I kow I've been mispronouncing Tolkien's names for years (although I hope to learn better)!

Credit to you for succeeding at getting a movie made at all! I know how difficult it can be to make even a 20 minutes student film.

She is the best at creating movies.
Can the Sindarin dialogues be found anywhere?

That would explain the similarities.

BeoXS Gaming oh that's fine. It's the strange nature of memory. It just sounded so cool I was almost wishing it was true. :-)
Thanks for the review. I haven't read the appendices since I was in Vietnam. So I will go back and look.

If I may make a request, please check your pronunciation of the word, 'aesthetic'. :)
How did I pronounce it? This is one of the few words I’m always iffy about and I don’t think I’m even consistent because of that lol

I figured. That’s my typical because it’s what I grew up with.
