Finally! I come from an art background, so I was a little disappointed when my fashion sketching class didn't cover an equivalent to composition

I studied film not fashion, but love watching Zoe's channel because there's a lot of transferable knowledge regarding the creative process. Revisiting the fundamentals of aesthetics keeps me fresh.

Oi Zoe.

To me this is obvious (though I still love this video!) but it seems most fashion has become boring with even evening wear being monochromatic, but I love bright and metallic colors matched with black!

In terms of your background....I like the darker background b/c the focal point for me becomes your face. I like seeing the expressions you make while describing your point and that adds interest for me to pay attention. The photo of the lighter background, for me, seem to wash out your face and I began to look around at the other items on display instead of paying attention to you. And of course the red lipstick! The lighter background photo you were wearing a light lipstick which also helped to wash you out. For me, I think/like the speaker to be the focal point when the speaker is on screen. Loved most of the fashions you showed today. The nursing baby design was a little much for me, but I'm sure there are alot of people who probably liked that one alot. Same for the lion's head. Thanks for the lesson today. I always learn something new from you and I really appreciate that!

Thank you for sharing the information in this series. I loved the examples you provided. Although I am not a fashion designer by trade I do love learning to sew and I am the fashion designer when I create my projects. This information is something I will keep in mind when selecting my materials used. Looking forward to learning more.

Well, in regards to the backdrop, putting it into the perspective of applying emphasis through design.....1.) You are an educator and not only is your preferred color black, but its also usually Matt and simple......so this backdrop Of a shiny dark bookcase full of books emphasizes the art/design books....ie your identity as an educator. 2.) your overall nature and "brand" identity is to present a wealth of serious knowledge in a fun, quirky, lighthearted way which is highlighted both by the overall lightness of the books chosen to be shown in this very rigidly repetitive way(cause your shells are so full) but then the fact they are layered behind used paint brushes and decorative objects......hope that helps you feel better about this "backdrop". It works

    Hello Zoe,
I've been watching your videos since last 2 years and I've learned a lot about the industry as well as how it works. I'm a freshman student pursuing fashion design and want to start freelancing to gain experience as well as to do a side hustle. We are currently being taught the basics of design [design in general, not specifically fashion design] but I've completed an online diploma in fashion design but I don't have any practical experience in designing. I've completed some courses here and there and know how to crochet and embroider. That being said, I want to start freelancing either based on my current skillset or I'm willing to learn pattern making (digital and physical), but I don't have any idea where to start. I would like it if you could guide me personally or do a video on this topic [how to start freelancing for design students].
