We visited the Resort a few days ago.The service was outstanding and the people friendly. The owner is very involved in all aspects of his Resort. Our igloo's heating system was not working and he granted us an extra day. We really enjoyed the stay. I would like to visit the Resort in winter time as well.

As someone with a positive life living in Chicago, there are very nice places in and around the city, but as with any metropolitan area, there are bad parts; some parts of the city I would never want to live in. NY and LA also have their good and bad areas.
Chad Harmon I live in the good parts of LA and it's amazing imo. Sure it would be amazing to live in the countryside, but I'm extremely lucky to live in California. I'm close to the beach if I ever want a swim and the mountains if I ever want to take a hike. Not to mention LA has some of the best restaurants to eat too.
I've been there about a million times in my life time (I'm from Finland) and we have a cottage/house about 10km north from Kakslauttanen in Saariselkä. It is the most precious place for me. It truly is something special and there is always something to do, summer or winter. Of course it's filled with tourists during season times and I like to avoid those times. Off-season is the best time to go even if most of the places are closed. The nature is the best part.
Travelling all the way from Norway, Finland, Greenland to Artic zone and watching Northern lights and polar bear is all I wish for. The shades of green, blue and purple, along with pristine fair snow is ethereal. 💚💙💜 ❄☃️🌊
I remember since I was a kid my dog has always been saying he would love to go there. So I promised myself that one day I would take him to there. And one day, I did. I went there with my dog and his puppies. It was a wonderful experience that we will never forget

I've done the ice hotle here and from this I'm getting thoughts of memories made that are long gone. Stuff I will never forget for the rest of my life, same goes for the person too.

This is breathtaking. I live in a tropical climate and I've never seen snow or faced extreme cold but I'd risk it and visit because everything is so beautiful
I was there in summer. In 1990 or 1991, I was 10 or 11 years old, and also in later summers when Kakslauttanen was still a rather non-touristy place, they were still buidling the log cabines, and had a friendly receptionist who didn't even speak English back then, but she would always let me "help" in the main building when I was a little bored. In later years there was a dog Pori (?) who came following me everywhere because I would secretly feed him our meat supply. I would station in Kakslauttanen with my father before we went off into the wild down the Ivalo river for a couple of weeks. Someone from the staff always drove us to the entry point in Kuttura. Really nice. Would have loved to see it in Winter as well. They sure have upgrated a lot and I assume it is not a place I could afford anymore. But it sure must be a fantastic experience to go there in 2019!

North of here is Labrador where the northern lights are more common and visible. Literally, in your face. They have festivals and other outdoor activities, particularly during winter. I was there in summer. In 1990 or 1991, I was 10 or 11 years old, and also in later summers when Kakslauttanen was still a rather non-touristy place, they were still buidling the log cabines, and had a friendly receptionist who didn't even speak English back then, but she would always let me "help" in the main building when I was a little bored. In later years there was a dog Pori (?) who came following me everywhere because I would secretly feed him our meat supply. I would station in Kakslauttanen with my father before we went off into the wild down the Ivalo river for a couple of weeks. Someone from the staff always drove us to the entry point in Kuttura. Really nice. Would have loved to see it in Winter as well. They sure have upgrated a lot and I assume it is not a place I could afford anymore. But it sure must be a fantastic experience to go there in 2019!
I should start visiting these arctic environments before I die. I have a feeling things are gonna get very hot after I die.

@@Potatogaming8539 & MeS Details I personally would not go that far to experience the northern lights simply because I have experienced them where I grew up , northern Newfoundland,east coast of Canada. North of here is Labrador where the northern lights are more common and visible. Literally, in your face. They have festivals and other outdoor activities, particularly during winter. The rest is up to you.
