Growing up, I was a devoted fan of NKOTB. Their music was the soundtrack to my early childhood, and even today, I still find joy in revisiting their songs. Listening to their tunes instantly transports me back to cherished memories from my younger years. I long to relive those carefree days, as NKOTB will forever hold a treasured place in my heart as one of my all-time favorite groups.
I remember when this song was released. It was the fall of '89, after they'd had hits with "Please Don't Go Girl," "The Right Stuff," "I'll Be Loving You Forever," and "Hangin' Tough" (the song.) Their album Hangin' Tough had propelled the group to superstardom, and was still being actively promoted. Smack dab in the middle of its promotion cycle, "Didn't I Blow Your Mind" (which was not from the Hangin' Tough album) was released. It had been a deep cut from their debut album from 1986 that, at that point, had gone unnoticed and sold poorly. This song was released alongside "Cover Girl," which was from the HT album, in an effort to ignite interest in NKOTB's first album now that they had achieved massive popularity. I have to admit (don't judge me, I'm a '79 baby... and was 10 years old at the time) that I was (and maybe still am) a New Kids fan. I remember my mother driving me to school, and both of us were singing along to this song as it played on the radio. Me, because I was an NKOTB fan, and my mom because she knew the original version of the song. Late 80s. You had to be there. Good times.

NKOTB made it poppier.
Eh. They didn't totally ruin it, but...
