We were in Madrid in January and had the menú del día at Cinco de Tirso, and it was delicious! We also made it to the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona for menú del día a few days later, which was also a very pleasurable experience. Thank you, Tony and Cecilia, for the recommendations.

Hello there, the recommendations still stand valid (but check for updates on the fixed comment below the video). If you don't speak Spanish the best thing is either to ask at the hotel to make the booking for you, or go to the restaurant in person to book your table.

I went to La Barca Del Salamanca and had a wonderful menu del dia lunch - thank you for the recommendation! It was by far the best menu del dia that I had while in BCN.

We'll think of a way of presenting at the same time Spanish and English terms (it's cumbersome and hinders the effort to read material on screen). Whenever we've given names in Spanish we've received complaints. You will find the names in Spanish on the menu, here we preferred to put translations as the main purpose of the video was not to serve as a dictionary but as a guide to what you can expect on those daily menus.

Good question, Laura. If you want to split the payment, say 50/50, when the check arrives, that's easy to accommodate and won't be an issue. But if you want separate checks, then you'd better tell the waiter at the beginning of the meal, tell him you want "cuentas separadas". All the best!

I guess you know you won't get a menu del día at dinner time, so the length of your dinner service will entirely depend on how many dishes you order and how long it takes to get them ready. I paid big money to eat similar food in the cruise ship. Do most of the restaurants in Madrid, Barcelona and have the “menu of the day = menu del dia”?
I wouldn't say most, but a sizable number of them do offer a menú del día during weekdays.
