And today he won the candidates. Unbelievable
He'll be competing for the world championship at 18 years old. And people don't think Ben knows what he's talking about. Frankly, terrible.
And the 2nd game is the same opening as Ian vs Caruana
gonna beat ding too
@@zacnewford it's not obvious, Ding will fight. He's burned out but if he plays, he fights.
@@wl4dymir i don't know why people are writing Ding off like he's a nobody. in my opinion Ding still has a pretty good chance to retain the title - THIS ONE TIME at least. to me it's like 60-40 in favour of Ding.
he had a bad tournament and isn't playing much. it doesn't mean he's not preparing for the upcoming match. if anything, it implies the contrary.
Vegas hates this one simple trick of listening to Ben's predictions.
6:04 Ok Ben, I respect the game, I didn't realize you were a fortune teller, are you potentially Gukesh's good luck charm???
Amazing prediction. He became the youngest challenger at the age of 17.
Babe wake up, new Finegold lecture just dropped
😂😮
Benstradamus at 6:00
Can't wait for the great players of the future lecture series!
And now about 35th world champion Leyla Anyadike...
Who ever has a hard name to pronounce
first episode: GM eric rosen
at 6:02 : He probably will be fighting for the world championship.
That was a great prediction
Ben Finegold July 20th 2022 "I expect to see him in olypiads representing India" Gukesh August 3 2022 6/6 in the olympiad representing India
That too on board 1
7/7 now.
8/8 now beating Fabi 😱
He will be fighting for the world championship at 18 or 19 LOL
World championship prediction was also very good
Finegold will go down in history as the greatest chess lecturer of all time
Damn no more kids audience, I will always miss them c:
Gukesh beat Fabi with black pieces today. Very convincing and a strong attacking game. Who says Gukesh is boring? GM Finegold was so accurate in his prediction and analysis. Hats off Sir!
Gukesh has been playing amazing at the Olympiad. Perfect timing on the upload!!
6/6 as of this comment is pretty, pretty good.
@@12jswilson 7/7 as of this comment is pretty, pretty, pretty good
@@Idk-os4ix 8/8 as of this comment is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good
@@sudhanshusharma81039/9 as of this comment is pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty pretty good
Candidates winner as of this time. Pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty, pretty good.
You really saw his upraising coming !
Gukesh is now 8 out of 8 in the olympiads, with a rating of 2730 and a performance 3360... :o
He won 8/8 in olympiad, he really goes for the win even at slightest chance presented
Very timely with the Olympiad results! Love it!
Go, WREN! But stay there!
“Better than playing the Berlin and groveling for a draw”, while looking straight into the camera 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
6:08 yep close prediction
Exact prediction. Gukesh will be 18 next month so before the WCC starts.
Thanks Wren construction
it honestly boggles my mind as to why you are so under appreciated Ben. Go BEN!
South Indians have been writing their names in an unconventional manner for several generations. They initialize thier family name as the first letter and write their given name. So he pribably was writing his name as D. Gukesh. Dommaraju is actually his family name or last name. In the US and even in North India his name should be Gukesh Dommaraju.
By the way his family should be originally from Andhra not Tamilanadu.
Another entertaining and insightful lecture by Ben.
gukesh is tamil by everymeans
No every guy in the world has to know the complexities of south indian culture
Thanks
This explains a lot thank you
@Osi Pertin some do want to know based on your logic, which means the poster wasn't out of line. In general people like to know details about good players. They may not care about your name because you're not that great in chess...but for players people do want to know.
im here cause gukesh won candiates 2024 lol
Leave it to Ben to find the next World Champ challenger. Well done Ben.
Few days after this video Gukesh played phenomenal chess at the olympiad.. With a perfect score he is the 2022 Olympic gold medalist
he didn't achieve a perfect score, he scored 9/11 (drawing against Keymer and Mamedyarov, losing to Abdusattorov) - which is still nothing short of amazing of course, he won 8 games in a row, including beating Caruana with black!
Thank you for continuing to do lectures. I loved GM Finegold's lectures from years before the twitch stream and I am thankful there are still new lectures being made
8:00 "he's uncompromising; he doesn't play slow, boring, drawish chess." That's my boy! The chess players we love! Go Gukesh! Especially liked the match with N. Abdusattorov. Two chess prodigies playing great chess.
As "an old guy", especially, (a mathematician, Go player, chess player, etc.) I am endlessly entertained by your facetiousness and self-deprecation, etc. Keep it up! :)
Benjamin that was a lovely presentation. I got insights into Gukesh's style
In April 2024,, this almost 2 year-old video is looking like one of Ben's best. The comments starting at at 5:55 (especially 6:04) and 49:27 (esp. 50:00) have aged particularly well at this point. It is good to see a player who is solid in his preparation, likes "double-edged" and exciting matches, and gets wins as black.
Obviously his Candidates performance didn't come out of nowhere. 4.5 points as black even with one loss! Impressive.
Ben, we'll need another video, Gukesh v2. While you're at it, give us some good Candidates 2024 content too! Good luck to Gukesh in the world championsip match later this year!
Good timing for this lecture! I am definitely looking forward to seeing more of Gukesh in the next few years
Your wish came true
Hey Congratulations on 100k, Ben!
I know I'm late (terrible!), but still!
Always enjoy your lectures (:
Love your lectures, as always!
I think the video looks better when you're facing the board rather than facing away from it like in this video. Draws the eye in better.
❤️
I didn't even notice but yeah why did they switch?
Who is here after he won the candidates
A new lecture? Very nice! Go Ben!... but stay there.
Thanks for the great video
impressive that you detected this amazing player, that passed under our radar. well done Ben
Great lecture.
Man I miss these lecture
Thank you Sir given good information and analysis
His father's name is Rajnikanth, no wonder Gukesh is crushing people in the Olympiad. It was inevitable.
Dommaraju is his surname . It is a telugu surname .same as erigaisi arjun, koneru humpy, pentala harikrishna, dronavalli harika . Eastern(chinese, korean) naming. Surname first and then given name
but gukesh is tamil by every means , a sur name wont change that
@@mahatmagandhi2434 what's up with inferiority complex of tamils.
@@mahatmagandhi2434 Dommaraju is a Telugu name even if he speaks Tamil
@@arvindhmani06 tamils dont have any family based or caste based surnames , so we keep anything as second names , my second name is kumar which is not tamil but its just a second name , my friend has sharma as second name but he has no relation with north india , his parents doesnt have a sur name either , its just a name . his mother tongue is tamil , he and his parents both from TN , he follows tamil culture . having a surname doesnt make him telugu
@@arvindhmani06 there are even saurashtra people in madurai for 500 years who are originated from gujarat , they do consider themselves tamils now
Ben saw the future :o
Yep
Great lecture, very prescient. Thanks Ben
Thanks Ben
Players who can play any position regardless of how familiar they are with it will always have a huge edge in Chess
Pronunciation guide:
Gukesh: gook-AESH ('gook' like 'cook')
Praggnanandhaa: prug-NAA-nund-uh ('prug' like 'plug')
And repeating what others have already said - some Indian naming conventions put the father's name (or sometimes the place of birth or the name of the community/subcaste) in front of their given names. So Gukesh is his given name, and Dommaraju is possibly the name of his community. And Rameshbabu is Praggnanandhaa's (and Vaishali's) father's name.
Go Ben!
Paweł Teclaf fell out of his chair, and rightly so indeed, because it happened after blundering a drawn position into a mate-in-2 or so.
He uttered an expletive too : )
Gukesh will be the world champion in a few years, mark my words
cant have better timing. Everyone is searching for Gukesh content
Ben, great content as always. But this is especially with how Gukesh is playing during the Olympiad.
Relentless attacks by Gukesh!
Which Wren Construction was he talking about? The on in Washington state or the one in UK or...? Perhaps be more specific of which area that company is servicing in future sponsorship segments.
Nice Games ! Go gukesh !
amazing prediction
20:23 White: Qxc5, I love that move.
playing for the world chapion a month before turning 18! this video aged well
Do you have a lecture on how to draw with black? You mentioned the Petroff and the "Baltic" ??
Mr. Finegold you forgot Arjun Erigaisi. Raunak Sadhwani is another but he may take year plus to get to 2700.
Was the Wren construction sponsorship a joke?
" I have done deep anayls of these positions, and I have no idea what is happening" well guess we know who would win between Gukesh and Finegold lol
This lecture has aged pretty well. Who hasn't aged so much yet is Gukesh himself.
Hjartarson, 59 years old, born in 1963.
3 days later he is world #20 2729 :)
gm benjamin finegold really does work well with a group to dunk on
Doramamu Gukesh
Go ben
Dude, you never looked at that piece of paper until the show was on 🤣🤣
Damn, Le Quang Liem played f3 and f6 in the same game :O he sure does want to loose that game
Ben. U were less annoying than usual. Keep it up! 👍🏽👏
Gukesh D. is a top 10 junior for years now, getting stronger since the day he touched a chess piece. Years later now. He won six games in a row in a super strong tournament. What a great insight and discovery by Ben... Everybody saw Gukesh coming, since 2018.
1:20 btw Gukesh’s nickname is Guki
Watching this the day Gukesh, with black, defeats Carauana at the Olympiad
A knight on the 6th is like a bone in the throat.
"He's barely 16"
-Ben
GO WREN!! i mean BEN!!!
Me before watching the video: "Gukesh is a boring player he would never do anything untoward he would play solid, Ben Finegold is crazy!"
Me now: 🤡
I love clowns.
Great series, The Gooch is on fire!
34:58 Didn't Fischer advocate for more randomness, less preparation in chess? Gukesh is doing a great job of emulating those beliefs.
It was IM Paweł Teclaw that fell from his chair. Now he is GM Paweł Teclaw
Thumbnail idea: Ben's face photoshopped onto the Big Ben clock tower in London. Y'all can have that one for free. Love the content Ben and Karen!
look up "Euro Friendly Bullet Chess with Ben Finegold!" on here. Be warned: it might blow your mind. Thanks for the support! - Ben's Editor
6:00 OK Ben which numbers should I buy for the lottery
Nice show by Finegold - as always. But - chess can't be that easy with playing h6 and g5 and winning :)
It’s crazy how young these GMs are. The computer generation will push chess so far.
In olympiad he is on 6/6 beating alexi serove with black
Gukesh style is like Inish giri`s!
"Its sort of like Ben, but its Wren"
22:52 Incorrect!
They're both Asian
Go Wren!
And now he dethroned Vidit... soon to dethrone Ding for the world title!
Yep
You're wrong, Ben. Source: I'm an internet person!
1 billion people in India. Gotta be some chess talent
Why does he recommend to always repeat the position before declining a draw by repetition. Appreciate if someone can tell me why he gives this advice.
It’s kind of a joke, but also if your opponent thinks you’re willing to draw and chooses not to repeat first then they’re the one making a concession. It’s always worth it to repeat 1 or 2 times if you think it’s the best move.
He gains time on clock with the same position
Was this an ad or sarcasm?
Gukki is his nickname
Pride of India 💕💕💕
Aren't you pakistani
Gukesh Nf3 blunder brought me here
Omg this channel is really Fine refined pure Gold for sure. Was really suffocated with some self-proclaimed Indian noisy streams always asking for money from viewers in the name of chess. Elated that found some good place finally, sanity prevails.
