For those whining about how TAG “ruined” Heuer, read Jack Heuer’s autobiography. Heuer in the 1980s was a company in dire financial trouble that produced some hideously ugly quartz monstrosities - the glory days of the Autavia and Carrera had long since passed by 1986. It’s a testament to the skill of those running the show that within the space of a few years they’d turned TAG Heuer into one of the most recognised watch brands in the world.
Perhaps so but they still have some work to do to build a reputation on a par with some of their better peers, such as Zenith, JLC, Bulgari etc. I bought a £6,500 Monaco LS and the hand for the chronograph hour sub dial fell off….completely unacceptable quality control failure…
I read the autobiography. Very inventive watch brand. The first automatic chronograph with the crown on the left side. The try to put Steve a Monaco on his wrist. Try to get a Heuer on the wrist of a Kenedy. The friendship with Willy Breitling. Much respect to Jack Heuer. A tru icon.
They already was one of the most recognised brands, more so than any of the others before and after Tag was added apart from Rolex. Only watch collectors would know brands other than Tag, Omega and Rolex back in the 80s, 90s and early 2000's and only the pandemic has boosted the sales of the likes of Zenith, Tissot and other brands in that same market share and all because of channels like this that show there's more than just a few good watch brands.
Love it, Beautiful chronograph, impressive movement, well done TAG Heuer. The brand doesn't get much love but just look at what they come up with, pretty amazing!
The tag tourbilllon never gets any credit - the Monaco looks stunning now on tags new metal bracelet again no credit and the Bamford carbon Monaco just gets forgotten about but again it’s stunning
TAG putting a tourbillon and a full chronograph together in an automatic movement and charging less than $20K for it deserves all the credit in the world.
I always enjoy a Tag Heuer video! I appreciate them when ever I see them on this channel! its my favorite watch brand! But from this voice, I'd listen to a review about anything!!

Me too. I own the day date 41mm Carrera that I got with a decent 30% discount from the AD. Watch keeps time well (+1s/d) and the fit and finish are still flawless after 2 years on my wrist. Tag may not be the most prestigious luxury watch, but for the price I paid I’m very satisfied with it… watch snobs be damned. Lol

Yes. They are fine. The seiko movement misidentification/ rebranding, the huge advertising push in the 90’s and many of their watches, today, are awesome.
My opinion is that Heuer is the real gem. If I would be deciding, I would rename the "Tag" from the name and logo and focus the company completely on the heritage of Jack Heuer.

I bought an F1 Caliber 5 as my first automatic watch while I was waiting for the arrival of a Tudor Pelagos and honestly I thought the price was fairly reasonable (just over $2000 CDN from my local AD). I know the movement isn’t that special (although the Caliber 5 in the Autavia is COSC) but I think the watches are well put together. Each to their own tho.
@@vladimirchervenkov6949 There are lots of Calibre 5 equipped watches that they sell, so it really depends on model. My F1 is just over $2000 CDN but my Autavia is I think a bit over $4000, for example.

I wonder if they could have used like a planetary gear set and clutches not unlike the automatic transmission in a car, but in reverse. Kind of like where the power comes from the tires and tries to spin the engine to be able to step up the gear ratios. Like a super overdrive. Probably wouldn't have had the torque to drive that though.
