    Hey Dylan….not only did I learn from you that I don’t want and observatory, I also learned from you that I should remain a visual observer! However, I do occasionally try to take pretty pictures of the Moon with my SkyWatcher 120mm Ed Pro and my C11 on my Losmandy G11 mount using and older Canon EOS Rebel XS digital camera. I figure in about 5 years I will either get an easy dedicated cheap camera for this or if I am dead I will save some funds to past on to my children. BTW your editing in this video was excellent. Keep up the great work and get better soon. Cheers -Greg

    This camera could go well in a small refractor, like the Evoguide 50 ED, or the Redcat 51. Sensor is a bit small, but for zoomed in live stacking, as you showed it, must be a fun to use. Or for solar, with a small coronado or a lunt!!

    Can you get a wider opening for you observatory? With your guide scope so far out, how do you manage moving the dome to match both your scope and your guide scope? My wife wants me to get an observatory, but I just can’t do it.

    • @derekderek2570

    • @DylanODonnell
      @DylanODonnell  Рік тому +1

      Yeh ignore that janky setup .. a better way would be a closer adjustable guide mount. Then the observatory dome opening size and chasing precision is more forgiving.

    You can do a neat guiding trick with a color camera with tiny pixels. Bin 2x2 and shut off the blue pixels. The shorter wavelength (blue) light is more affected by seeing than the longer wavelength light. You lose a little light... but your guiding might be better... in theory.

    • @DylanODonnell
      @DylanODonnell  Рік тому

      You can use the calculator to compare them but once binned you get effectively 3um pixels on the qhy 715 and assuming it’s overall sensitively is better it should be a better camera. The ability to switch to colour just to look through your guidescope in colour is just a bonus :)

    I'd love to see how it works on your 11" Edge HD. I have the 8" version where I use the SCOPS OAG. Because I'm like you, I prefer to work from the comfort of my desk. And it really annoys me when I have to go out and unplug and plug in my camera or focuser. But the SCOPS OAG does have an auto focus and i love it. Saves me a lot of time. So as my focus changes over the night as the temp cools off, I can adjust my OAG quite easily to bring it into focus. So yes, I'd love to see this on an OAG using your 11" Edge HD. ;o)

    Hey there! looks like a really awesome camera but I have some big doubts about it with my setup...
    If I have a lens (not a telescope) 600mm with 95mm diameter, using the Bintel simulator it says my resolution would be 0.5" per pixel or even 0.25" per pixel if I use a Barlow 2x, but my dawes limit is only 1.22 arcsecs due my "narrow" lens. Do you think if I do lucky imaging for moon and planetary only I could get the most of this camera/lens setup? or would it be totally oversampled and deliver the same quality (or worse) than with a 462c? that one calculates 1" per pixel...
    Hope you can help me clarifying this!! and thanks!

    • @DylanODonnell
      @DylanODonnell  Рік тому +1

      Oversampling is normal for planetary and some data beyond the Dawes limit is inferred from drizzling, and also remember there is colour separation per pixel so every colour pixel is at least two pixels away from the next one. I believe the high resolution of this cam negates the need to use a Barlow too.
