    I'm scheduled for a TKR in 3 months. Also, I have drop foot on that leg to be operated on. Any advice on walking with a walker after surgery to get heel strike per the video?

      Hospital PT here.
      In an uncomplicated TKR we aim to discharge home in 4-5 days.
      If someone has stairs at home we’re probably doing stairs with them day 3 or 4.

    Those are small stairs with grip. What about slick stairs that are high steps... the reason why I fell down then in the first place

    • @bowler8

      I fell one step down the stairs, broke my hip and my femur clean in half, got no rehab, still struggling

  • @shelaghjackson9577

    Never heard of using a walker on stairs.......not sure that’s a good idea, for you or your paintwork.....better to use a cane.
    I was an ortho nurse and have had one knee done. I wouldn’t do this.

    • @Dr_Footbrake
      @Dr_Footbrake Рік тому +2

      What about people that need a walker/frame to get around?
      And if we kept people in hospitals until they could walk with a cane (or less) they’d be overfilled in about a week.

    • @shelaghjackson9577
      @shelaghjackson9577 Рік тому

      @@Dr_Footbrake : you come up or down stairs with one cane and hold the handrail with the other.
      If you need a walker, best to try and keep one upstairs and one downstairs till you can manage without.
