Great video and information. Thank you. I'm stuck between buying a Rode NT1 Signature and anSM7b. I know they sound very different but I am trying to choose between them because while I love the sound of the Nt1 I am afraid that it will pick up too much background noise. I don't have a sound treated room(I know I really should but I go back and forth between 2 locations and only one is suitable for any modifications). I'd be using the mic for recording music and for things like voice communication via Discord so haven't any room or other background noise would be an annoyance in either situation. Any feedback and/or suggestions for alternatives would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.
Hello there! Thank you for watching. It's always tough to make a decision on a good mic, personally I always favored dynamic mics myself. The SM7b has always been a top choice for podcasters because of its ability to eliminate noise and pops with it's built-in pop filter, so it looks great on camera. The Rode is an excellent mic, but will look bulkier on camera than the SM7b. You'll also need a pop filter and suspension mount to eliminate mechanical noise transfer. If you like a big beefy looking broadcast mic, then maybe the Electro-Voice RE20 might be a better choice for you. I own an RE27 myself. They're great mics that I have used since 1976, back when I was in radio. Good luck with your decision. I'm sure you'll make the right choice that's good for you. Take care and thank you for your comment and compliment.
