- Fort Bourke Lookout overlooks the town of Cobar NSW and in particular a working Gold/Copper Mine. The gold mine excavation is underground and you can see the specially built dump trucks entering and existing the opening to the underground workings of the mine. The raw material is transported by dump trucks out of the pit to a stockpile area, dumped, then reloaded into road trains for transportation to the processing plant a short distance away.

Like many mining towns they have a tendency to contribute to town projects which benefit the community. Most mining operations now have strict rules and are monitored by government departments such as the Mines Department and EPA with large fines for breaches. Thanks for your comment. Cheers!
