Revali's diary in the Champions Ballad talks about how the power within the souls of the champions are used to pilot the Divine Beasts: *"They say one's soul must contain incredible sacred power for a Divine Beast to recognize them as a master"*
In twilight princess when Ganondorf was killed by the water sage he was given the power of the triforce, ¿was this the kind of sacred power the champions were talking about in their diaries or maybe a different kind?
Assuming Ganon is the source of the ancient energy, what if after his resurrection, the energy is disrupted or cuts out across Hyrule, which could explain why there's no towers in the trailer?
If you look closely... In the trailer the divine beasts are also gone In the shot of hyrule castle you can see death mountain But Vah Rudania is missing×
Ashura ván Luzifer not to mention in the epilogue of BotW Zelda mentions Vah Ruta has suddenly stopped working...could that scene have taken place after Ganondorf has been reawakened?
@@ZiggyPalffyLA Yeah~ Could be true~ Or it's simply due to the fact that the Champions Ghosts disappeared and so, Mipha isn't there to power Ruta anymore~

12:56 "Ganondorf was like a nuclear reactor, the calamity a nuclear meltdown, and the malice the radiation" The Legend of Zelda: Chernobyl season 2 intro
If you talk to purah and ask her "who are you" she'll talk about the sheikah towers. She mentions how 100 years prior when Zelda tried to activate a shrine it didn't work because it lacked energy to fuel it, but calamity ganon's rise provided the energy to unlock sheikah towers & shrines. Seems like it matches up?
@@gajaan316 Nope, it still fits, as some malice from the Calamity resurection followed Terrako through his time-wormhole. Maybe "Dark Terrako"'s presence is enough to wake up the battery down there.
@@kylewood4488-b9r I mean it's kinda dark to put in a game that's supposed to be E rating but I don't know maybe the first game was almost as dark with you know everyone dying.
Talk of BOTW 2 is giving us goosebumps. Makes us all the more excited for what we got to look forward to. I dare this game to actually be darker than Majora's Mask.
Facing the very first Zelda that requires to play another one prev in the cronology, in order to understand the circumstances of the game itself. I trust this zelda has the chances outdark any other Even majora's perhaps!!!
Majora’s mask is the darkest Zelda game and botw isn’t close. It would be pretty tough for them to make botw2 darker, but I’m ready to experience the creepiness
Maybe they knew how Ganondorf's cursed to be reborn over and over again, and thought to prevent his eventual rebirth and return by keeping him "alive" and draining his energy, instead of letting him stay powerful while sealed away.
I wouldn't doubt it. Nintendo has a habit of sneaking very dark subjects into the lore of their games. Splatoon's lore ,for example, is a literal race war between inklings and octolings over resources due to the rising sea levels.
Many J-RPGs are using the metaphor of life force being misused at the hands of humans, and "radiation"/out-of-control energy being the consequence. It's basically the plot in the entire Final Fantasy Series, The entire Tales Series, Seiken Densetsu/Secret of Mana series, and now Zelda as well.
Well if you think about it, Chernobyl was turned into an exclusion zone where all villages were abandoned and eventually reclaimed by nature very much like breath of the wild. In all honesty I wouldn't be surprised if botw was inspired by the events of Chernobyl.
Have you considered the possibility that this is not a process of Sealing but of Purging Ganondorf? Separating his original Gerudo soul from Demise’s Malice? That would explain why he is kept mummified while both fluids flow away from his body. It would be a way to prevent reincarnation as well, like previously mentioned, by keeping his death as a continuous process. Why trying to “heal” Ganondorf? Perhaps because he was the very first incarnation of the Hero? When I first saw the Sheikah tapestry on BotW I noticed the hero was red-haired, large and pumped up, not the Hylian-type but the Gerudo-type. The monster in the middle looked to me more like an anthropomorphic version of the Imprisoned, which is actually Demise, right? Could it be that the story of the sequel will shift towards a legend where Ganondorf is seen as the original hero, who became corrupted by the Malice of Demise, and because there were no more male Gerudos born the spirit of the hero chose a Hylian subsequently? I wonder...
If the Sheika were using Ganon to power their tech, in such an inhumane way, that may be why it’s buried. The king didn’t want to use it even though he knew they couldn’t free Ganon without massive retaliation. And that’s why the Sheika were killed and resented. The Yiga clan are allied with and want to free Ganon. What if this is because they too thought it was an inhumane act and are trying to reverse it? The Yiga clan could have at least started out with a noble cause.
Yea I thought the same too. Kind of a way to keep him in an indefinite coma in a place they know instead of having to deal with an unknown possibility of when and where he'll come back again. Guess they didn't think it would also have unexpected consequences
That's the more obvious answer. However, if tied with the energy source, that would make the entire thing better and ingenious. They used Demise energy to build a 10 thousand years civilization, that's very successful to say the least. And if the energy overflows, just train a blondie through 120 shrines and seal the thing again for more 10 thousand years.
@@RRRRRRRRR33 maybe it's both. Like, they don't want Ganon to ressurect but they don't wanna risk his power to explode out of nowhere and since they find solution that align with both of those problems, they ended up using Ganon as a source of energy whilst maintaining him. But through time, his energy just grew fiercer, be it because the lack of use of it or because he's just so mad. Eitherway same thing
I’ve wondered, why does Hyrule castle have the same map interface as a divine beast? And why does it move in the trailer? It sounds weird but what if the castle is some sort of giant divine beast?
And Calamity Gannon is located there, and at the end of each Divine Beast, we fight some form of Gannon. And who do we fight at the end of hyrule castle? Gannon of course!
A couple of theories: In tandem to this video's theory, perhaps the soul power is exactly what's going on. They saw Ganondorf as the ultimate source of power because of his Triforce piece. But he couldn't be a mobile power source, so they harnessed what they could for other things, such as the guardians. What if, guardians are powered by shiekah souls and that is where much of the sheikah civilization disappeared to. Even more interesting is if you examine that they had deserters that eventually became the Yiga clan. What could have possibly caused the Yiga to desert? Well maybe it was the demand to become power sources that scared the Yiga clan enough to run from their fate. Yiga clan were cowards who didn't want to power guardians. This may also explain why each shrine has a mummified monk inside. Each monk was specifically powerful enough to make and power a trial. Their blue cage preserves them until their role is fulfilled, then they disintegrate for a well deserved eternal rest. That would be a terrifying fate for the faint of heart and explains why the sheikah have all but disappeared. Only a small collection of loyal Sheikah remained to serve the Royal family and settle in Kakariko village. Tying this in to my own additional theory, what if with Ganondorf properly sealed into an everlasting mummification process, they buried their guardians and divine beasts because the calamity was contained. It wasn't until the current generation Zelda started seeking her power that the Calamity started to return. It would mean unearthing these automatons was a misunderstanding. They never needed the Divine Beasts. It was the pressure Zelda felt that was the catalyst to the events of BOTW. "The power to defeat Calamity Ganon lies DORMANT beneath the ground." Maybe this dialogue isn't referring to the Guardians and Divine Beasts at all as we are lead to believe. Maybe this is referring to the two pieces of the triforce currently sealing Ganondorf. They are "dormant" as in they are not being passed to the reincarnations of the hero and princess. Think about that. Link didn't have his Triforce in the first BotW game because the hand holding down Ganondorf's corpse IS the embodiment of his piece of the Triforce. This may explain why Link was able to be defeated 100 years prior to the game. Maybe this is why Zelda couldn't tap into her power because it hadn't returned to her until calamity Ganon broke her part of the seal; perhaps it was the fact that Zelda was seeking to regain her Triforce that allowed the Calamity to return in the first place (that's how a lot of these stories go when someone is trying to avoid terrible fates, that they often cause it to be fulfilled). When they go down to into the caves beneath Hyrule, perhaps that scene where the green energy is flowing into Link's hand is the Triforce returning to its owner. If you notice, the green energy is channeling one thread of malice to the ceiling, but the rest is escaping out from underneath, likely because it's not being contained by Zelda's part of the Triforce anymore. A random thing that popped into my head while examining the trailer. Perhaps the Zonai are the interlopers if they hadn't become the Twili, shown by how their ruins can be found across Hyrule. The Hero's connection to the Triforce would have made him an icon/idol amongst the Zonai during that ancient age, much like wolf link is the form of the hero to the Twili. Perhaps it was one Link's incarnations that kept the interlopers from being banished to the Twilight realm at all, leaving them to become the Zonai. The green flowing energy coming out of the hand on Ganondorf's mummy forms TWILI symbols much like those seen on the Twilight Mirror. The ancient barbarian armor may be that of the Zonai, but the body paint is MUCH like the aggressive shadow form of the Twili people's markings on their body. (Loose connections, but hey, all the other races are in BOTW, so why not the Twili as the Zonai?) Also, it seems you could connect different Triforce pieces to different cultures. Sheikah = Wisdom, Gerudo = Power, and maybe, just maybe, Zonai = Courage. Man you can really end up down the rabbit hole!
Makes me think that perhaps the nature of the sword wound from Twilight Princess may have been severe enough to never fully heal which made this mummification ritual that much easier to pull off on him.
Maybe the Sheikah created the shrines knowing that any future links have a handicap due to lacking the triforce of courage. So their monks gathered their spirit energy for Link through meditation in case he needed to fuck Ganon's shit up again while the triforce was holding his original body down.
I think it's far more likely that he's being kept at the moment between life and death because the Royal Family knew that Demise was the reason that Link and Zelda keep reincarnating. They're afraid that, as a vessel of Demise, truly killing ganondorf would just reincarnate him and keep the cycle going forever. So they tried to purify him. If the soul is that if the innocent gerudo man being controlled and manipulated by Demise, maybe they're trying to separate his innocent soul from the Malice corrupting him and continuing the cycle. Trying to free the Triforce Of Power from Demise's control by freeing Ganondorf's soul and letting him pass on, maybe to reincarnate as a positive figure in the future? Maybe to help them defeat Demise and the curse? But with how long Demise had had a grip on ganondorf, it would take a long time to properly filter out the pure soul from the corrupted influence. I think the tech around him is what's keeping him in this state and was created for this, the rest was coincidental because they never thought to contain the freed malice.
I thought the same thing! They're just stopping him from reincarnation so that he can be drained of Demise and Hyrule can finally be free of him! The malice is simply demise escaping him, I guess they just planned that the reincarnated hero and the reincarnated goddess could destroy the malice, the possibility of his slumbering used for other means could just be an after thought, or something thought of after years of not knowing about Gannon sealed where he is and being rediscovered and his soul being harnessed for power by the shiekah, not knowing what the original purpose of this, structure (if this theory they had in the videos was true)
He is a incarnation of demise’s hatred, not being controlled by demise. They both have the same rage. So he is not being controlled, only the child of demise’s hatred,
To be fair this is pretty much the first time ( aside from his *attempted* execution in TP ) he has ever faced any real punishment other than simply being sealed away again.
I remember from the game Riju telling Link that Naboris draw energy from the ground to move and that’s why you have to use bomb arrows to stop it so I don’t think the Devine beasts gets their full energy from the champions
Olas G It’s specifically Naboris that gets its energy from the ground. Perhaps it’s from each of their respective elements? Like air for Medoh, desert for Naboris, water for Ruta, and heat/lava for Rudania. I don’t know, just a possibility. Naboris drawing power from the ground is canonical, so you can’t just say “what about Medoh” and deny a line from the actual game.
@@ScAr_wlvrne now that you mention it. Its a posibility that their energy was gathered from the elements that surrounds them Like, you never see Ruta leaving the reservoir or Medoh stops flying high in the air. Maybe they needed to be in that specific area that mostly full of energy so they wont stop working?
Little late to this, but this theory could put an interesting twist on the Yiga. If they discovered the connection between Ganon and the ancient Shiekah they might be trying to end Ganon's suffering in the hopes of stopping the endless cycle of malice.
I thought it was weird that the King of Hyrule would banish/shut down the Shiekah since they are normally the Royal family's trusted allies, but if a future monarch figured out a link between the Calamity and Ganondorf's sealed body it makes a little sense. If excessive use of Shiekah technology had caused multiple Calamities to a point Hyrule had a battleplan for them one King might have thought "enough is enough" and ordered the Shiekah to shut themselves down. Then with the technology shutdown and Gannondorf still sealed the King might have thought the seal would just keep Gannondorf sealed for eternity, and it took 10,000 years for the next Calamity to even be hinted at instead of maybe a few generations or so. The King may have ended up making a good call, but since a Calamity didn't occur for 10 millennia the people of Hyrule were woefully unprepared. If your theory of Ganondorf being a glorified battery is the case I also wander if the Yiga honestly worship Ganon, or if they just covet the power he brought the Shiekah as a power source?
Let me build a bit on your theory here, because you might be on to something. Like you stated, it took 10,000 years for the next Calamity to appear (or "be hinted at"). What if the fortune teller hadn't really been a fortune teller and instead one of the Yiga? Seeing as the King of Hyrule took the fortune teller at their word and ordered the Sheikah technology (and the Divine Beasts) to be uncovered in preparation for Ganon's return. Instead of it being the Royal Family taking such actions in an attempt to be ready, the "fortune" ended up being a sort of self-fulfilled prophecy, if you will?
There's another angle you could potentially look at this and that would be a transformative perspective/concept in regards to the franchise's mythological inspirations and basis, which would be christianity, in particular the holy trinity. What I want to examine further would be the potential meaning and purpose of the fourth/missing Triforce piece which is commonly refered to as the Tetra force and who and what it represents. Who is not that difficult, if we assume that the Tetraforce got lost, or purposefully removed and draw parelells to the bible, that would be the equvialent of Lucifer or the devil, a role that has often been attributed to Demise and Ganon well before, for multiple reasons. As Demise has been shown to be banished from heaven to the bowels of earth, which basically is hell, this would mean he was once part or played an equal role to the godesses, but was banished for whatever reason, which would explain why he was able to stand toe to toe with the other godesses and remains such an undiminshed force even now. If we assume Demise wasn't inherently evil, but just happened to disagree and differ from the godesses due to his nature and representive trait, what would that be? Let's examine this by looking over the series and what attribute was repressed and kept in check the most by the goddeses and it should become clear. So for one there's the Twili and Kumula that both advanced in both magic and technology specifically, and both of them got seperated/banished and kept from the view of the common Hyrule folk and the same goes for the wind tribe in Minish cap that according to some fan theories got transformed into the Cumula, which would be one hell of a transition if not outright cursed existence. Then there's the Robot civilization, along with it respective dragon, which out of all regions in Ss, ended up the worst as it's dragon died of sickness, and the robots and their time chrystal fuel were lost to time and turned from ocean and greenery to a desert. There's also the Ikana kingdom which opposed the Godesses and presumably Hyrule forces and erected a babylon tower to oppose and reach/mock them, which ended very poorly for them. The Twili are presumably connected to the ancient tribe responsible for Majora's mask and represent another indicator for a clan/kind that were banished from sight. Last, but certainely not least are the Shiekah, who in their most prominent role, were shunned for their technology with the "good" shiekah complying, while the "bad" Yiga opposed this notion and sided with Ganon and his forces. So what does this show us? We have a history of presumably millenia without any major significant technological progress and all advanced civilizations and outliers being shoved and forced into obscurity if not outright banned. Considering the possibility of a mythological connection, what does this remind you of. How about the forbidden Fruit in the center of Garden Eden? The one which the snake, a precursor or agent, perhabs Lucifer himself, seduced Adam and Eve to consume? What did this fruit grant again? Oh right, it was knowledge!!! Why else did the shiekah who at that point were merely the shadow agents and executors of the royal family after securing Ganon happen to develop technologies that pushed technological and magical prowess much further than any of the other races? Why would the godesses fear and keep those advancements away from the common folk? For the same reason Religion always pushed against and tried to intervene with Technological advancement, they fear their loss of influence and importance in their Subject's life and mind. Also why does Ganon the reincarnation of Demise happen to receive the Triforce of Power, even in Twilight Princess where Ganondorf was stopped before entering the sacred realm? Bc Knowledge is Power. Is it a coincidence that the Triforce piece of Power is right above the Tetra/Knowledge piece and connected with one another would form a Diamond, kinda like Ghirahim's clothes and his cape suggest? Perhabs the Goddesses purposefully let Ganon reincarnate over and over for the sake of strinking fear in their sheep to drive them to pray and believe more in their holy guidance etc, in similair manner of old testament god, who let his jewish subjects be purposefully oppressed and prosecuted by other warring tribes, states, countries, belief systems etc once their belief in god and their will to pray started to slip....
@@knowcomment4525 In all honesty, I think we can't exactly put something like this past them with the Goddesses in reality being akin to Yaldabaoth in Gnosticism being Tyrants albeit ones who know how to hide their true nature as self-serving, megalomaniacal Tyrant Gods since they outright FLOODED Hyrule in the Adult Link Timeline just to deal with Ganondorf even though there might have been other ways they could have at least stopped him WITHOUT the absurd amounts of unneeded death, destruction and suffering?
Add into this that BotW was heavily inspired by Studio Ghibli movies (especially Mononoke). Many of their movies feature the use and abuse of energy and resources as prominent plot points. I wouldn't put it past Nintendo to do something along the lines of this theory.
@NintendoBlackCrisis holy shit i think i know why his spirit may be stripped from the mummy corpse! Now hear me out, we see malice falling to the ground while the possible soul is being stripped from the body. They are being seperated, pulled away from each other. So what if whatever this ritual is, is trying to save the real Ganondorf from Demise's curse and influence so that when Ganondorf reincarnates as the next king for Gerudo, Demise's influence will no longer corrupt him?
FuzzyBear he is not corrupted, he is the corruption. He is the child of demise’s anger, so he is not cursed, he is the curse. Ganondorf is the living curse of Demise. So they most likely are not trying to save him.
VC Records ...saaaaame. - (I also feel somewhat vindicated. Sure my theory isn’t exactly 1:1 with theirs, but it just adds motive to my “Ghirahim’s the PseudoSeal” for WHY the Royal Family would make a deal with the Demon Lord (in disguise?). I mean, as far as Ghirahim’s concerned, Ganondorf’s Soul is simply slag, so what does he care they do with it? (Especially since Skyward Sword heavily implied that Groose’s progeny ARE the Gerudo, and even gave him a goofier version of Ganon’s Theme, so his soul was prolly the anchor for Demise to latch onto to drag Zelda/Hylia and Link/ChosenHero into his Samsara Curse. (But, Ghirahim wants Demise, not Ganondorf, so finally figured out a way to seperate the two (and Ganondorf’s Soul being leeched off as a battery is a convenient way to ensure that Demise’s Curse doesn’t fuse them back together again) (Oh...and both the Malice and Hand wanted to maim Link? Ghirahim’s trademark is attacking Link with an outstretched hand? Just saying, although prolly not the direction that’s gonna be canon? You can still make a strong argument for it-stronger, even, after the 2Part Theory)
Considering that Ganondorf was suppose to reïncarnate every Century but him being sealed caused a change, there hasn't been a Male gerudo for 10.000 years.
@@YassineFarah2423 "Ganon has given up on reincarnation" Zelda What if Ganon didn't really give up on reincarnation, but COULDN'T reincarnate. That would explain his desperation. BOTW wasn't just ganon trying to take over hyrule, it was ganon desperately fighting *for his life*
What if Gannondorf’s spirit is being separated from the malice (the physical for of Demis’s Curse) to possibly destroy the curse itself rather than send it into another reincarnation??
Nobody has mentioned that the blue energy stuff was in Skyward Sword as well? That technology was completely lost to time, and only accessible through timeshift stones. However, it definitely is the same kind of energy used in Breath of the Wild, which raises the question, how did they re-discover this energy and what was it in the first place, since that was long before Calamity Ganon.
Nedoxu That is the materiel used for the ocarina of time and time gates and anything associated with time. As well as being a physical material and not an energy. Cool idea though!
I'm not so sure that's the same kind of material. Timeshift stones turned blue when hit, yes, but we don't know whether there was some sort of flowing stuff inside. Plus, if that were the case, it would imply either 1. that the entirety of hyrule is under the effect of a gargantuous timeshift stone, or 2. that they somehow found a way to reduce their area of effect and limit it to their technological devices. But remember that hitting a timeshift stone deactivated the others.
@@mareoso37 true, but if you look at certain enemies in the lanayru mining facility (especially the Beamos) they have STRIKING similarity to the design of the Guardians before they were corrupted by ganon... in fact, if you look in Hyrule Castle in BOTW, you will see guardian turrets... their design are fairly similar to the design of the Beamos in Skyward Sword, as well... they even have basically the same weird fins on the top.
@@Nedoxu of course. Since the very beginning, I thought that the tech we find in BOTW was connected to that of Lanayru in SS, but we have to take into account how many years (and timelines) have passed since. Not saying it's impossible, we just need some more info on this.
I actually just watched a video on that very idea, I think it would be a cool idea. cause thinking about it every champion has a divine beast and even link gets the master cycle. so maybe the castle was turned into one for Zelda or the king? but then ganon took over. idk any thoughts on that?
Wait... What if the giant pylons that grew out of the castle were the legs, but stopped moving cause Ganon was dormant. What if the Castle is one gigantic Guardian?
Oh my gosh this theory blew my mind! You two did such an awesome job! It’s super strong and if this is the plot for the next game, it’s going to be WAY darker than Majora’s Mask. 😱
I've thought since the beginning that the little "flashback" (pun inevitable) shows the hand protruding from some sort of robed figure in a lunging position. Check out the screencap and see whether you guys agree. It could be that this hand belonged to a very important Sheikah monk, a robed sort, headmaster sort of figure. The gold jewelry on the ghost hand is very much unlike the jewelry on the monks, however. Another thing we can't abstract from is the chamber itself, which seems to be riddled with traces of Zonai, whose angular aesthetic also more matches that of the bracelet on the hand. What's also very puzzling is the notion of Gerudo letters emerging from the spectral arm of a Sheikah monk (or Zonai prince, for that matter). One could say that these are whisps of the mortal Ganondorf's Gerudo identity, but that hardly dismisses other possibilities. On the other hand, there's the impression of a very neat plan if we go by these two videos. As in, whoever went through with this manner of sealing Ganondorf could very well have understood that this method would yield the possibility of converting life force into energy. The Sheikah were the ones who developed the tech to defend Hyrule against another Calamity, so they had precise knowledge of the energy source. They knew the source because they "planted" it there.
Ok, here’s something different: Accounting for the hand’s affinity with Link (Wisdom-Power-Courage parallels etc), as well as the presence of a glowing hand on the hero shown on the tapestry (the one shown in certain BOTW cutscenes), we could say that the hand (and robe-like garb, as in the tapestry) belongs to the Hero of the Calamity, who defeated Ganondorf with a seal. The hand consciously shows concern for Link, suggesting that the sealer is still present on the sealing site, though all is left of him is is hand. The Sheikah, (fore)seeing that the seal was weakening, went to work with the energy-conversion plan in order to have a plan B available when the seal would eventually evaporate.
The whole idea of life or soul being used to power the ancient technology does explain why there's a shrine that only activates if you put a luminous stone on a glowing pedastal. (it's sort of near the Gerudo highlands)
Only their leader is a dumbass. The big guys are no joke. The womens use deception and you gotta admit this is surprising the first time, + their unique fighting style is deadly early in the game with all the jumps and teleportations. Ok they love bananas.. -__- but this is fitting since the fruit increase the damages, perfect complement for hit & run techniques.
The Royal Family sealing Ganondorf beneath Hyrule Castle like this actually makes sense. You trap Ganondorf like this, you put a pause on reincarnation. This is because since Ganondorf isn't dead in this mummified state, Demise's Hatred can't reincarnate in a male gerudo because there can probably only be one male gerudo at a time. Edit: *Before the final battle* Zelda: You took everything from me! Ganondorf: I don't even know who you are... Zelda: You will.
maybe the zonai mysterious disapearance was them turning into the koraks and forest spirits as it was stated they were powerful magic users maybe something went wrong
That must be because the Kokiri (& Koroks) used to be the tribe most closely associated with embodiments of and environments related to Courage. Now that's the Zonai...or those in Lurelin, to some extent, because their home is in Faron Remember, that's where Farosh lives, the Shrine of Courage was built and the most tropical and lush environments are found. Those are some reasons why it's my personal favorite region in the game
The scary thing about the trailer is that Ganon we see under the castle is the one we see in Twilight Princess - Hole in the chest. Another thing with the Twilight Princess Ganon is that his neck was snapped. In the trailer, when Ganon is reawakened, his neck snaps back into place.
This is honestly ridiculously good content from you guys. I'm sooooo excited to see how much of this is explained in the sequel to breath of the wild. I've got a good feeling about this game.
Maybe Hylia did this to Demise originally and that is the source of his hatred of the gods? If he is being used as a battery, I don't see why this would have to be the first time.
But the original ganondorf must die so the male gerudo can born and I very much don't think that after ganondorf died he will be back alive from the dead
I think they kept him alive to prevent his reincarnation. If he's stuck in a living, mummified state below the castle, he can't reincarnate as a new gerudo king bent on destruction.
Maybe you're right, and following that idea, I think when Link touched the energy, he broke the seal and stopped the "purging" the Malice from Ganondorf's body.
The curse is not something tangible, is just that, a freaking curse, and in japanese version of Skyward Sword, is nothing more than just a grudge, or hate that is constantly evolving.
That would suggest that both Malice and Calamity are nothing more than a mindless manifestation of Demise's Curse completely independent of Ganondorf's soul. Imagine if that were to happen and Ganondorf becomes good. 😮
@@elgranlugus7267 Given that you used the word evolution one could argue that Calamity might be the Curse "evolving" due to Ganondorf now being permanently sealed by the Hand in the trailer. 🤔
This makes me think of the story of Omelas, the city that was perfect with people that lived lives of ease and advanced power, but only possible due to the suffering of one, which enabled the city’s advanced state. In this case, Ganon’s suffering literally powered the civilization.
The sheikah were banished because the royal family or someone/something found out that they were preserving Gannon dwarf, and the mine carts/shafts with luminous stone around them, were the Attempts of the royal family trying to find the preserved body.
And so the Sheikah only were an aggressive tribe that wanted to get revenge while abusing Ganondorf. It's no miracle that they had a close relationship with the warlike Zonai...
I thought the same thing! It looks like he's being pulled away from the malice. I really don't think Ganondorf/ganon is the enemy in BOTW2. It's gotta be something else.
@@foldedphoenix4385 Not exactly, he's just got Demise's hatred against Link and Zelda as a curse on/in him, kinda like how every Link is actually different just that they all have the soul of the Hero and every Zelda has the blood of Hylia. You could call it a type of reincarnation but really, Link's is the closest to what we consider reincarnation, Zelda and Ganon are a bit more complicated. If Ganon had Demise's curse removed, perhaps he might actually be a more decent guy, in theory
Looking back on this, I still think it holds up pretty well. Probably since we haven't seen anything new from the sequel to change it. But I'd probably spin the move as an overall positive choice. They kept Ganondorf under wraps for so long he was reduced to legend and even his appearance is only recorded fully as the Calamity Ganon an incredibly long period ago. It cost them in the end. But how many tens of thousands of years of peace did they get out of it? Probably more than if they simply killed the guy and he was reborn. Or sealing him less effectively and having him bust free. It's a tough situation since there wasn't a good way to deal with him permanently. And now Link and Zelda have to handle it. Should be pretty crazy.
maybe we will find out WHY he abandoned his body to become calamity Ganon. also maybe there was an in game theory about splitting ganondorf's spirit from demises malice to break the curse?
Hyrule Castle could literally end up being a giant colossal guardian lol. Just a huge castle-like divine beast with spider legs. Can't wait to find out what happens lol
To be fair, they did say that the guardians were supposed to come crawling out of the pillars around Hyrule Castle when making BOTW. A "Divine Beast" that produces corrupted machines, since it's powered by Ganon's malice? Maybe.
That would explain why the castle is not near the Temple of Time as it was in OoT . I'm sure the castle is supposed to be near the birchwood where Undead-Rhoam has his cabin.
Well I feel the same its just too odd its on the EXACT spot his wound was at from Twilight and his eyes glowed the same color as demise when he woke he the king of evil an all but this is just fcked up what they did to him im sure the sequel gone be the hardest Ganondorf fight in any zelda series cuz he has 10,000 years+ hatred to take out an I cant freaking blame him
@@Glitch_93 I’ve been thinks he has more than 10,000 years hatred since the attack 10,000 years ago was calamity Ganon again, a malice form, instead of a Ganondorf body. Ganondorf must’ve been sealed long before the attack of Calamity Ganon 10,000 years ago. I’m a year late but I just had to find a comment to add this on
@@coolspacecat7598 I believe that as well. With what little info we are given about what happened 10,000 years ago Calamity Ganon looks and acts the same. Not only that but they were all expecting Ganon like this had happened multiple times. I feel it's possible Ganondorf's been down there for an enormous amount of time. Possibly 30-40,000 years
if theres two other pools of this energy, i mean, my mind goes to link and zelda. probably not true but spooky to think about the mummified remains of the heros
If this was the case there would be no royal family, as Zelda was the only member of the royal family, and no new hero as they only need to reincarnate if they're dead.
One possibility that comes to mind in addition to the theory that Ganondorf was mummified to try and keep him from reincarnating. What if the setup was actually a really long-term plan to try and permanently kill Ganondorf as well? The solution they came up with was that rather than just sealing or killing Ganondorf, by constantly siphoning off his spirit energy his spirit would eventually cease to exist once it ran out. Thus putting an end to both Ganondorf’s reincarnation and Demise’s curse which is tied to Ganondorf’s soul. The problem is Ganondorf’s spirit has a ton of spirit energy, literally enough to last for thousands of years, between being the living incarnation of Demise’s curse and having had the triforce of power. So when this solution was implemented they knew it was going to take a ridiculously long time, but didn’t see any other alternatives if they wanted to permanently end this constant cycle of disasters. In the process they realized they could also harness the spirit energy they siphoned off, which sped up the process a bit. They also decided they might as well put it to a more productive use, namely powering their technology. An unexpected long-term side though was the generation of excessive amounts of malice built up every few thousand years to create an incarnation Calamity Ganon. Despite this side effect and how long it was taking to siphon off Ganondorf’s spirit energy, it was still the best plan they had. Thus the creation of the Divine Beasts and Guardians to deal with the incarnation of Calamity Ganon every couple thousand years. However, the prohibition on Sheikah technology actually slowed down the spirit energy siphon rate prolonging Ganondorf’s life and also left them less prepared for the next time Calamity Ganon showed up.
I think the main control unit might be what Calamity Ganon's first form is comprised of. It's made of ancient technology and it was inside of a cocoon in the center of Hyrule Castle.
If you think about it, the fact that nature took over the area around the castle is very similar to how nature took over the area around the Chernobyl nuclear plant.
the jewel on top of ganondwarf's head is the same colour that is your answer thank you for making these types of videos they give me a scence of joy finding out about my favourite and first video game
this would also help with not making link over power in the next game if all of the powers from the former champion could stop working since their spirits would have moved on since their mission is complete...just thinking it would be a nice way to explain it.
This actually sits well with my own theory of why Zelda struggled to awaken the power of the goddess. I believed it was due to the royal family doing something unforgivable, and in my opinion torturing any soul for 10,000 years is pretty far past unforgivable.
i think they do a bunch. and they can't pump out too many theories. we gotta wait for more info, trailers and footage. we need more info about the damn hand and the mummy
So, you had a theory that that green energy powers the master sword, right? What if those collection pipes above ganondorf lead to the pedestal by the deku tree, where Zelda put the master sword to "recharge"?
Maybe if the collection pipes above ganondorf changed the malice into some other for of energy, if not however it is stated in Twighlight princess that the sword destroys any evil it touches meaning that if the energy coming from ganon has anything to do with him then it would be destroyed not absorbed.
I think the gambit the Hyrule Royal Family made was that if they let Ganondorph die, he reincarnated every 100 years so there is a battle to save Hyrule once every couple of generations; but if they keep him perpetually in a state between life and death he can never reincarnate and so it somewhat forestalls Demise's curse. The problem being they miscalculated the risk-benefit in this scenario. Sure this prevented his reincarnation for 10,000 + years but when his malice does build up to the point it did 100 years before BOTW the consequences are 1,000 times more dire then if you just let him reincarnate and battle him once ever 100 years or so (as you called it in your video, a nuclear reaction melting down). My theory is that Zelda realized this sometime between the end BOTW and the beginning of BOTW 2 and she and Link are going down below Hyrule castle to release him from this binding to let him finally pass on and restart the cycle of reincarnation as that is less risky than letting another calamity happen. That said, I think the true enemy of Breath of the Wild 2 will be the Zonai tribe as I think it is their handiwork that this Faustian bargain was ever made. The Zonai coveted power and probably struck a deal with the Hyrule Royal Family: "we keep Gandorph's corpse in a state of perpetual limbo and you let us syphon off his malice / hatred to create tools of power in our hexing rituals"; not too dissimilar to the interlopers with the Fused Shadow or the tribe that created Majora's Mask. The Shiekah probably helped broker this deal as they might have figured his energy could also be used to power their technology. This would explain why all of the sudden the Shiekah fell out of favour with the Hyrulean Royal Family because their part in brokering this deal could have eventually lead to the first calamity. It might very much be that Ganondorph welcomes death at the hands of Link / Zelda in the upcoming game and might have even telepathically communicated with Zelda to broker a deal asking for his demise, but the Zonai tribe will have none of it and be eventually be revealed as the big bad of BOTW 2. It would be awesome if they played with humanizing Ganondorph again like they did briefly at the end of Wind Waker. It would be an interesting experience to say the least if for one game Ganondorph was on the same side of Zelda and Link, if not just so he can finally die and be allowed to reincarnate and fight again another day.
He comes back whenever he is sealed, they figured if he isnt sealed, he wouldn't come back, so they TRIED to "mummify" him to prevent his inevitable return... but.... his return is inevitable so even the mummification didn't work... thus.... the inevitable leak of his malice and thus The Calamity was born. How's that for a theory, I've figured it out boys... and the Link from the 10,000 years ago was from the Zonai Tribe, and the Zonai and Sheikah tried to work together to try to MUMMIFY Ganon instead of sealing him. (To prevent his return)
Would explain the Green energy of the hand going to LINK'S hand. The Zonai sacrificed their lives for the mummification. It was the only way it'll work.

I wondet why....
Ganon-Reactor
Calamity-Meltdown
Malice-Radiation
Reminds me of Chernobyl
So...would Ganon's body be the Elephant's Foot? Still burning through the ground to this day?
I wonder...
That's a great theory... And I agree. That's awesome

Fun theory, but nope. The Yiga turned evil because the people of Hyrule betrayed them out of fear and hysteria of their superior technology
It's amazing how much this comunity can get out of such a small teaser.
Great work, Zeltik and NBC.
yeah just imagine when we get the full trailer (:
My assumption was they kept him alive to stop his rebirth. You can't reincarnate if you're not dead. And it would seem to have worked... for a time.
Yea I thought the same too. Kind of a way to keep him in an indefinite coma in a place they know instead of having to deal with an unknown possibility of when and where he'll come back again. Guess they didn't think it would also have unexpected consequences
It's nature. In an effort to stop a natural cycle, the Hylians and Shiekah ended up creating disaster.
It’s classic example of an age-old theme: those that attempt to resist their fate only cause even more suffering for themselves and those around them.

@@imchangingmyname Seventh, actually. Mastercycle is sixth.

Calling those two pipes the exact same shape is a little generous.
A couple of theories:
In tandem to this video's theory, perhaps the soul power is exactly what's going on.
So... How do I like this comment more than once??
@@OuranHighCosplay haha well thanks for liking it, even if only once!
Makes me think that perhaps the nature of the sword wound from Twilight Princess may have been severe enough to never fully heal which made this mummification ritual that much easier to pull off on him.
@@robintst I could see that being the case.
Maybe the Sheikah created the shrines knowing that any future links have a handicap due to lacking the triforce of courage. So their monks gathered their spirit energy for Link through meditation in case he needed to fuck Ganon's shit up again while the triforce was holding his original body down.
Wait if Link was put in the Shine Of Resurrection doesn’t that mean Ganondorf’s energy is in Link..

You should post this over at www.reddit.com/r/ZeldaFanTheories/ so that we can get to the bottom of this theory.
This got sexual real quick

I mean zeltik said the fortune teller was his wife but coulda been a disguise. They're very good at it.

Holy shit, that’s amazing. That would make his story even more tragic.
@NintendoBlackCrisis
holy shit i think i know why his spirit may be stripped from the mummy corpse!
@@althor1247 it's possible that you're both right, and whoever did that to ganondorf was trying to save him without knowing that he couldn't be saved.

(I also feel somewhat vindicated.
(But, Ghirahim wants Demise, not Ganondorf, so finally figured out a way to seperate the two (and Ganondorf’s Soul being leeched off as a battery is a convenient way to ensure that Demise’s Curse doesn’t fuse them back together again)
(Oh...and both the Malice and Hand wanted to maim Link? Ghirahim’s trademark is attacking Link with an outstretched hand? Just saying, although prolly not the direction that’s gonna be canon? You can still make a strong argument for it-stronger, even, after the 2Part Theory)
My guess is at least part of the sealing plan was to keep Ganondorf in constant checkmate as apposed to him possibly reincarnating.
Considering that Ganondorf was suppose to reïncarnate every Century but him being sealed caused a change, there hasn't been a Male gerudo for 10.000 years.
@@YassineFarah2423 "Ganon has given up on reincarnation" Zelda
What if Ganon didn't really give up on reincarnation, but COULDN'T reincarnate.
Nedoxu
That is the materiel used for the ocarina of time and time gates and anything associated with time.
@@mareoso37 the lack of knowledge about when that 10,000 years ago actually was is a massive hindrance in making theories about the tech in BotW...
What if Hyrule Castle is a “divine beast” too? As it is rising from the ground. Powered by Ganondorfs Malice.
A "fallen" beast, perhaps? 🤔
I actually just watched a video on that very idea, I think it would be a cool idea. cause thinking about it every champion has a divine beast and even link gets the master cycle. so maybe the castle was turned into one for Zelda or the king? but then ganon took over. idk any thoughts on that?
Maybe that explains these big stick things by Hyruel caste (4) I saw a theory that they are storage units but maybe they are part of the beast?
Wait... What if the giant pylons that grew out of the castle were the legs, but stopped moving cause Ganon was dormant. What if the Castle is one gigantic Guardian?
What if hyrule Castle wasn't always there? It moved.
Oh my gosh this theory blew my mind! You two did such an awesome job! It’s super strong and if this is the plot for the next game, it’s going to be WAY darker than Majora’s Mask. 😱
What I believe is that the hand used to belong to a full body of a sheikah monk. It is flowing away because the seal is dying.
Get out with your common sense. We don't do that here.
No its need to be noticed! It can be!
Funny thing is both theories could be accurate.
Ok, here’s something different:
Accounting for the hand’s affinity with Link (Wisdom-Power-Courage parallels etc), as well as the presence of a glowing hand on the hero shown on the tapestry (the one shown in certain BOTW cutscenes), we could say that the hand (and robe-like garb, as in the tapestry) belongs to the Hero of the Calamity, who defeated Ganondorf with a seal.
Joey Roth it’s very close to the yiga clan hideout, where they worship calamity ganon

I used to think that the thin Yiga warriors where womens since i first encounter many of them under the appearance of women travelers.

They're keeping him alive because if another male Gerudo is born that he can possess that Gerudo and have a younger powerful body.

What if they were trying to separate Demise's curse from Ganondorf, but they wrre unaware that doing so they'd also create Calamity Ganon?
They would have to remove the curse from Link and Zelda as well, probobly bot the case.
I like this idea
*Ganondorf

@@foldedphoenix4385 Not exactly, he's just got Demise's hatred against Link and Zelda as a curse on/in him, kinda like how every Link is actually different just that they all have the soul of the Hero and every Zelda has the blood of Hylia. If Ganon had Demise's curse removed, perhaps he might actually be a more decent guy, in theory
I like this idea way better could u imagine fighting ganon then demise as end game bosses with botw style play
Cool comparison at the end, now I’ll be like “great, here’s the walking reactor going meltdown mode on me” during Ganon bosses lol.
I've always thought Calamity Ganon as a trojan horse virus corrupting the computers (divine beasts).

Never forget to hide the ganon. Don't let the kids play with it and blow a fuse.

So, you had a theory that that green energy powers the master sword, right?
What if those collection pipes above ganondorf lead to the pedestal by the deku tree, where Zelda put the master sword to "recharge"?
So the master sword glows blue when near malice. It’s acting as a sort of converter/capacitor.
I would say the theory’s we made about this theory video were close. Anyways thanks for the delicious collab!
Literally just finished Zeltik's video. Perfect timing. Love you guys.
The editing is on point man, keep up the good work!
