Thanks for sharing! Always love how much joy oozes out of you while you play...the most beautiful part of yours and Sarah's time sharing in chapel all those years ago was your stories and the glowing overflow of your love for Jesus and each other. Awesome to see!
Thanks so much! It is certainly a joy to serve the Lord with music and to use the gifts He's given us. Thanks for watching, and I'm so glad you enjoyed it.
This is my favorite hymn, and I love fingerstyle guitar. "Did anyone ever play the hymn that way?" I wondered, and tbh I was astonished and delighted to find the answer is YES! Thank you! Learning to play guitar, just to play this hymn, is on my life bucket list. So glad I found you. ;-) I will definitely check out your collection.
Hi chd helper, Thanks for checking out my video. I also enjoy Fingerstyle guitar. About 14 years ago or so when I first started playing Fingerstyle I did internet searches for people doing covers of hymns and worship songs and I couldn't find anybody doing it. I thought maybe I would give it a try. It's been a long learning process but it's a blessing to be able to worship God through the guitar. I have now recorded over 100 old hymns and also some more current worship songs. I do have tab for Christ the Lord is Risen today in my tab book on my website. I'm trying to add more tab but it takes time for me to create it.
@@JoshSnodgrass We are in the same Venn diagram then, only I can't play guitar (yet). :-) Beethoven's Ode to Joy? God Bless you, Josh, for this special, unique form of praise. So grateful.
@@chdhelper8684 Ha, ha yes. About "Ode to Joy", I recorded it under the title of the hymn Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee. I was on my first album "Sacrifice, Worship, Love" but is also in many of my long hymn videos. I don't have a video that shows me playing it. Most of my UA-cam videos are intended as a form of streaming music.
Wow that was wonderful. I tried doing an arrangement of this. I posted it, but now I’m embarrassed that I did. You are so smooth. But I feel the same joy you obviously do every time I hear this or play this perfect melody from heaven. Blessings and shalom.
I never put in the time to learn and practice fingerstyle so I’ve always been envious of it. Great playing! I’ve got this song with bluegrass instruments releasing April 2nd to my channel.
Yeah, Fingerstyle is a lot of work. I've been gradually learning flatpicking over the last few years in the style of Doc Watson. That also is so much work! Bluegrass is pretty amazing. God bless you!
Josh Snodgrass Flat picking is a lot of fun, though. With your ability to pick a melody and hold a chord at the same time will lend itself well to the flat picking style!
@@MifflinMountainMusic Yeah, I love to listen to the people who have mastered flat picking. There is so much potential there. I use it a bit in my concerts but I haven't gotten to the point where I'm ready to record anything in that style yet. I need to keep practicing!
Ha, ha, I think I'm the goofy guy! I put a drill bit through that finger back when I worked construction. It just kills me to push down a guitar string with it. I found those things on a forum a while back and it helps out a lot.
such joy in your playing...thank you

Love your ministry!

Just found you in time for Easter! Thank you for this joyful song.

Beautiful!!!!! Loved it!!!
Hallelujah🤩🙌
Love it!
This is amazing!! Thank you for sharing.
No problem, I'm glad it's a blessing.
La alegría que transmite al tocar vuelve maravillosa la melodía...
Abrazo
Wow, at first I thought you were using a thumb pick, then I noticed your hybrid picking it, man this guy has talent!
Thanks so much!

Amazing Josh. So wish I would have had that last week to play in the service.
Thanks! I was trying to have this done before Easter but I didn't quite make it.
The link for the tab is dead, could you please upload it again?
Thanks for pointing this out! I have added current links. God bless!
Thank you.trying to copy you on a Godin Nylon
I guess this tuning is 1/2 steps down for each string
I often tune down 1/2 or a full step. It makes the guitar easier to play with less string tension.
Ok, I'll be the goofy guy to ask... what's on your pinky finger?
Ha, ha, I think I'm the goofy guy! I put a drill bit through that finger back when I worked construction. It just kills me to push down a guitar string with it. I found those things on a forum a while back and it helps out a lot.
Not 100% sure, but it looks like a finger "cot"...kind of like an extra protective layer. They're often used for 1st aid.
