That was great. I really enjoyed it. Thrifting seems like finding light in dark places. Your video gave me the cool detached experience I feel when I'm going for walks with headphones on. That's the space I love being in.
I've just become acquainted with your channel and am charmed to death! You are an absolute delight and I loved traveling to the various bookstores with you (thank you for bringing us along). I live in Rochester, NY, so not too-too far away. A number of years ago the hubby and I spent a day in NYC and stopped at The Strand. With me, I had a list of books that I could not find ANYWHERE in the bookstores in my town. I found every single one at The Strand, and with each find, it was like a mini-personal celebration!!! So much fun. 😍
Thank you so much! The Strand is super magical. You can quite literally find anything. I’ve only been unable to find one book there-The Bear by Marian Engel!
Crash is fun. Decided to revisit it while trying to get rid of audiobook credits because the narrator on the sample sounded excellent. Really didn't think through the fact that I listen to audiobooks primarily in the car. Still trying to decide if I could accept the chance of being in some accident and having first responders witness what I was listening to while driving. I think it's going to stay deep in my audiobook vault for now...
Such a gorgeous video. Here in Trondheim we only have about 2 second hand bookstores plus our equivalent of the Goodwill. One of them is a really nice building by the church that I have only been in once to try and get a job that they never called me up for. The other is a gorgeous book bar that is open from 3pm to 2am, and has live music etc. that is totally nice. Not a tonne, but we also have way fewer people than NYC. Hope you have a great end of year! Take care of yourself!
Check out Molasses Books in Bushwick … rather organic … & Topos & Topos Too … in nearby Ridgewood …& Village Works for some rad vintage art books etc …
I'm always looking for fun excursions in the city - this is a great route! I'll have to check it out. Though I've already been to the Strand, and it was crowded enough the first time that I'm not sure I'll go back any time soon.
The books I want to own are few and select, so while I know many of the bookstores you visited almost all my time is spent at the million-book Brooklyn Central Library where I only rarely have trouble finding anything 👍 They have "Crash," too, but I think you wanted to own it and it has a wait list
Love book thug! They always have the most banging records playing. And haven’t been to human relations, but I’ll pester my bushwick friends to take a trip with me. Love seeing a fellow Brooklyn baby in the comments :))
"How do you use in lieu of correctly? In lieu of means “instead of” or “in place of.” If your light blue shirt is in the laundry, you might wear the grey shirt in lieu of (or instead of, in the place of) the blue one. It means in place of, lieu being a borrow word from French." - Wiki
You are so disciplined. That's not how I would end up after having visited so many used book stores.
Oh, trust me, it’s so hard. Saving $$$
this video (and all of the others you make) have the exact feeling/mood I always look for. they’re a treasure! thank you 💗
omg. Big hugs through the screen 🫂🫂💕

Thank you. I strive for that feeling, actually. So, big compliment to hear you feel that way.

My all time favorite activity, thrifting books. The clearance back of the store areas are my happy place. LOL
if I’m ever lost, that’s where you’ll find me

I love old brick and mortar bookstores like that. It's nice to see that not everyone buys all of their books on Amazon. :)
I am spoiled living in nyc and there are so many great bookstores!

Fabulous video as always Ana!! ❤️ Love your outfit! I’m currently reading Day and enjoying it. I loved The Hours so much! Happy Holidays 🥰
Let me know what you thought of the ending. Loved the beginning of Day. I think the ending just fell a tiny bit flat

Definitely wait for holidays to be over to revisit. I sweat more than I’d sweat in a couple months just trying to wade through the crowd
I found East of Eden in a charity shop at the weekend. Thought of you. Bought it, obv
Edit: Kingdom Come is worth checking out, too.
Noted!! And omg, I hope you ❤️ it

Love book thug! They always have the most banging records playing. And haven’t been to human relations, but I’ll pester my bushwick friends to take a trip with me. Love seeing a fellow Brooklyn baby in the comments :))
Do you think amazon over charges for books? Can you recommend "thrifty" online book web sites ?
Not sure. I haven’t been on Amazon in a while. I don’t have an account lmao. I think thriftbooks is pretty good!
