  • Fire protection in building structures are important and a must system to have in every building structures, especially in high-rise structures.It must be equipped with fire protection and suppression. It helps the occupant in the event of fire by supplying fresh air through the stairwell pressurization and exhaust out fumes and smoke out of the building in the event of fire.

    Method ng water supply distribution din sana for highrise building , cistern, type of pump ,for fire fighting etc. May basic knowledge nman ako pero theory lang. Mas maganda galing sa experienced person like you po . Aspiring architect plang po ako. 😁 Thank you.

    Architect yung smoke proof enclosure po ba bawal lagyan ng window? May nabasa kasi ako sa firecode dapat walang opening maliban sa self closing na door. Kung bawal po, pano yung lighting dyan? Artificial lang?

      Hi!Sir,Thanks for the inquiry.The enclosure ng pressurization and smoke control chase ay walang opening.Intended sya na enclosed wall and with fire resistive rating of 2 hrs.No windows and doors also.Every fire exit level.May stairwell pressurization louver sya or damper na naka concealed sa wall.Also wala rin syang lighting sa loob since totally enclosed wall sya dahil sya ang tutulong in the event of fire and located sya sa area ng fire exit stairwell.You may check yung isang content about How the Fire Exit Pressurization and Smoke Control System Works.You’ll see yung actual installed louver grille ng air passage ng ducting na nasa loob ng pipe chase.Hope the answer helps.Thank You😀

    Sir ilang pascal yung pressure dapat para maipush yung pushbar ng fire exit door? At nakainterface po ba yung supply fan ng staircase pressurization unit sa fire alarm system? Thanks

      Hi!Sir,thanks for the comment.Regarding the pascal/pressure to push the panic device door.There was no indicated pressure indicated in the Fire Code of the Phils.nor in the NFPA -1 Fire Code 2018.But there was stated in NFPA.All fire doors shall be self-closing.They shall be permitted to remain open during normal operations if they are designed to close automatically in a fire emergency by means of listed closure devices.This means the panic door can be push without exerting much effort because the door can be automatically closed with the door closing devices fixed in the door.For the air pressurization for the fire exit.Yes, its interface with the fire protection system.In the case of fire.When the sprinkler or smoke detector triggered due to presence of fire the air pressurization will also be in operation when the fire and jockey pumps gives all signal to the system that there’s a presence of fire.This are all working as a team incorporating in the system to suppressed the presence of fire in the buildings.Hope i answered your inquiry.Regards

      @@arki-knows yes sir I understand that since there are different type of occupancies in a building, it might be children, elderlies so it is very important to note that the pushbar can be open by those category of individuals however it is also considered that even though the door is self closing it is in fact once the door is kept open for a certain period of time due to evacuees trying to evacuate the building it is very certain that there will be a pressure drop that needs to be compensated by the motor fan in order to maintain the required necessary pressure since we are dealing with the pressure difference betweeen the fire exit and from the outside of door to prevent smoke or fire from entering the fire exit door. Anyway thank you sir for the elaborative explanation.

      Thanks for the reply Sir.Concerning the children during emergency.Fire Exit doors panic device are user friendly and can be push immediate during emergency by a 7 or 8 yrs old children to vacate into safety using the fire exit doors.Now, during emergency,its still the elderly may direct all the children to safety and definitely in this case by their guidance they will guide children into safety by pushing the fire exit door panic device.

      Section 5-2.1.1 of the NFPA 101, Life Safety Code requires the door opening force in egress path to be limited or no more than 30 lb of force (133N), hence, stairwell pressure should be maintained around 25 Pa to 50 Pa
