The thought of designing a structure that will represent us as Filipinos inspired us to create the UNFINISHED BASKET concept. The “UNFINISHED BASKET” concept is crafted into reality for this Vernacular artisan like Architecture Boutique Resort Complex in San Mateo, Rizal.
The Philippines has a long and rich tradition of producing handicrafts made from natural materials. Many items, sold as handicrafts, have traditionally been an important part of the culture of most communities and tribes. This makes the Philippines as one of the world’s major producers of handicrafts.
God’s creation is magnificent - especially those from nature. Indigenous materials such as wood, natural stones, seashells, weaved “Solihiya”, and bamboo sheets “Sawali” are woven elements that completes the concept which embodies the Filipino brand and heritage - evident in all areas of the structure both interior design and architectural design, true to its form and its function.
This Artisan Basket-inspired architectural structure will always bring us back to Filipino culture and heritage. Experience and recreate the Unfinished Basket-inspired Filipino architecture situated along the Sierra Madre mountain ranges.
The Architectural intent is to design the structure clustered. It was divided into three zones: the center structure, serving as a reception and lounge area; left zone as the back office of the structure; and right zone as a bar and lounge restaurant. Its purpose is to connect all areas while still enforcing diversity in creating that contiguous space dynamics that functions differently but operates as one. Hence, converging all areas, the view deck alfresco section reveals the picturesque majestic mountain view of the Sierra Madre creating that one-with-nature experience.
As an archipelago, the Philippines is rich in natural wonders in every tourist spot. With over 7,000 islands and islets including the best-hidden islands in the world.
The country’s natural wonders served as the design of the infinity pool. Manila City, Philippines’ Capital City and known as the “Pearl of the Orient” and the “Nautilus Mollusk”, a rare kind of species which is protected by its hard-shell covering, fortifies its design concept. Normally, Nautilus Mollusk‘s shells are being used as an art piece collection, when processed and polished will turn into a pearl-like finish.
The shape of the shell exhibits the Fibonacci sequence, the golden ratio, pattern on its curves, which is the designers guiding lines that shaped the infinity pool.
“Rain Water Harvesting System”, a bamboo-like downspout creatively designed to collect water from the roof gutters. Following the design principle form, follows function the rainwater gets filtered and stored in the cistern tank. This feature is being utilized for flushing the water closet, filling the pool, and best of all, for watering fruits and vegetables in the “Farm zone” area.
Moreover, The Villas are powered using solar energy to partially energize some of the units, such as the air conditioning system and water heaters. The Amphitheater of Estancia de Lorenzo is a nature-farm resort and events venue located in San Mateo, Rizal that showcases a beautiful view of the metro and majestic landscapes of Sierra Madre mountains. “Standing Firm on Solid Ground”, this structure is a modern representation of the Cross and serves as a reminder of our faith in Jesus Christ. @arki-knows
