@@doet1064 I can agree that there is a serious problem in general. Other articles which I have written deal with this. I think that exposing the worst and most famous examples is important. Many young tenors are trying to copy Jonas because the enviroment does not allow criticism. Lets give them a reason not to.

Yes all of what you said and that true elites do not gatekeep which is why I find Pavarotti admirable and delightful. Only wannabe's gatekeep others from pursuing an area of profession because they're not good enough themselves to ever be something. It is rooted from jealousy with bad intentions is my belief and thesis. Pavarotti clearly doesn't have this. A great man.

I love pavarotti, a wonderful tenor there is an interview with a woman who was 92 at the time I believe it was 1978, she said she went with her mother and father to see caruso in 1909 and that live there was no comparison between him and pavarotti she went on saying that the strength of Caruso's voice was will never be matched and that tenors like that come once every 100 years, makes me think if she is saying that how good really was caruso, because even the maestro himself said that caruso was the best tenor ever.

@@melilugs3536 Pavarotti was a humble man- well aware of his unique voice but always very respectful of other talented singers , starting from Caruso.

      @Musettina6 3 роки тому +3

@@melilugs3536 no one claims that- but basing one s impression on what one felt attending a performance that was so many years before - likely many others followed - is not a good criterion for comparing voices. If a recording, that would have been different.
We all - young an old - tend to memorize impressions through the emotions they triggered. At 23 one is more likely to be more impressed by a good performance than many years later, it s only natural.

Questa o quella per me pari sono

Questa o quella per me pari sono
      A quant'altre d'intorno,

      Tonio: ok.
Pavaroti: paaaaa ra, no muevas la boca, ok? no la muevas, no hagas paaaa- AAHW
      Tonio: OK.

when you are new with correct mechanism of singing high notes, which is elongating vocal cords, it is very common to crack, Pavarotti also says that he cracked alot on his passaggio and high notes before those muscles that elongate and tense cords got stronger and able to withhold higher pressures that are required for loud singing.

Good full voice singing with squillo and good phrasing. The smaller mistakes are easy to look over because the overall voice is well produced. Modern singers tend more toward a "penny wise, but pound foolish" style of singing, obsessing over particulars when the voice itself sounds weird, strained and unable to move well (in particular, they obsess WAY too much over dynamics and use weird, breathy techniques to create "contrast" far in excess of what is needed).
