    Many things can cause hum without even being connected to your rig. EMR is everywhere there is electricity. Fluorescent lights, like in that practice room, emit EMR that create noise in anything that is near it. EMR shielding is needed in all electronics.

    In the case of the noisy PA I think you need to demonstrate that the two Humnos are doing anything. To me it seems more likely that the two Hum Elimininators are line isolation boxes that broke up a ground loop. Yes, there is a ground loop if multiple devices are connected to the protective earth of the mains and connect that to their signal ground. You might have had the same effect by breaking up this loop in some other way. By engaging Ground Lift buttons, where they exist. Or by using XLR adapters that don't connect the shield on both ends.

    Nice new tool for hum cancelling. Worked great on the guitar amps. I find that cleaning all PA connections with a good electronic cleaner like Deoxit D5 with an input socket brush often does wonders for hum/noise. A good cable checker device is also a priceless tool for your gig bag as well.

    I went through this at my house recently! I checked my electrical and realized that A) The ground coming from the room itself was loose in the electrical box B) There were commons tied to the same side as grounds, increasing the noise floor greatly. C) The connector to the grounding rod had corrosion and was loose. I was using a hum eliminator and it made it reasonable but finding the issues and being able to fix them.... don't need the Hum el or my noise gate any longer pretty much. That being said, MOST of us can't rewire a place we are going to play a gig at! I take the Hum eliminator everywhere and would recommend this as well. Killer video and it was very entertaining!!

    More companies need to keep innovating in noise reduction solutions (not gates, actual noise reduction). ISP's Hum Extractor + Decimator G pedal is absolutely incredible and so far no other company that I know of has matched their approach in terms of quality. The HumNo looks awesome, but I don't think my noise is due to ground loops.

    Some advice from experience. Always make sure to use quad braided XLR cables. The cheap ones can pick up RFI, and I personally fixed noise problems for someone this way. Also amp hum from leaky capacitors, tubes, output transformer near fx loop power supply wrongly stacked on amp, etc, that isn't going to be solved by Morley's three prong hum eliminators. You need a tech to fix that.

When I plugged in my entire equipment for the first time, everything was basically one giant hum. I was devastated for weeks. I even went as far as buying a Furman power conditioner. It's still there, so I will defo try this!!! Also lol you can't name it Frank - or do I look like a power cord to you??? :P

    • @Frozenguy1
      @Frozenguy1 Рік тому

      Most of these tools simply cut the ground for one of the devices thereby cutting the loop. Since you have no ground I dont think it will work. Your problem might be just that, there's no ground at all, I have a similar issue when playing my rig through headphones, while with 2 amps plugged into the same box its dead quiet. Maybe see if you can mod 1 of your power cables so you can seperately attach your ground to something like the central heating. That said, I'm no engineer so have no idea if this will solve your problem. Not having any ground is not safe anyhow.

  • @Illuminatus5

    I guess with all those active speakers lets say 2 normal 2 bass and the mixing console makes 5 different powercables and you might need 4 Humno`s to separate all of them. But if they can´t handle the load a different solution like you did with the "Humeliator" can be easier and more affordable.
    Looking at your studio now with how many Powercables do you have pluged in there?🤪 I hope you find a good solution to fix the issue.
