I preferred the original face. It had a sadness to it which fits the character. It also looked like a guy who had been through a lot somehow. The only reason they recast was to get a more Tom Holland looking Peter Parker. I don't believe for a second it was any other reason.

Its why No Way Home went the way it did, they had to pull a fucking One More Day just to course correct his character for future films since Holland's Spidey is just Miles but white.
Not that it even matters, the MCU has been going down the shitter since Endgame concluded. Its why PS4's Spiderman along with Spiderverse were both so refreshing, they reminded a lot of us what we were missing when it comes to a good Spider-Man adaptation. Plus the Insomniac games just feel like Amazing Spiderman but without all the super agent parent baggage.

He literally felt like everything was being handed to him and felt he needed to prove himself, so he did. In Far From Home, he doesn’t want the responsibility of saving the world, and he ends up messing everything up because he tried to avoid it all, which leads into No Way Home. Then in No Way Home, he ends it all by taking the greatest responsibility and literally losing everyone he loves. How are you hating on his story? There’s a reason that everyone praises Tom’s Spiderman. It’s because his character is amazing. You’re definitely in the very small small small minority with this one kiddo. No one agrees with you.
something about john's version of spiderman felt more not only more relatable but also more familiar in some way. it just felt more like the average day person and just worked a LOT better for the character

Unfortunately the reason they changed it is because it was broke. There were some limits on the other face for reasons I can’t remember, but insomniac has a whole article about it if you Wana go read it
John's face was so much more expressive and showed the wear-and-tear of being Spiderman for a long time. The newer model looks like a kid who just squeezed themselves into a set of pyjamas.
The John version is always gonna be loved and remembered as the OG Spider-Man at-least in the games❤🥺

That's what made the original model ugly imo. It wasn't well made which is why it looked like it had a pinch of a cartooney style to it. If it looked exactly like John it would've been perfect

Reverting the face to a smooth, flawless face takes away the development as a whole and just didn't work at all with Lowenthals voice.

@@nomustar8711 I get they're trying to be consistent but they literally pasted Ben's model in animations it wasn't made for, which is why it looks so jarring in any other cutscene. Even more jarring when you realize any other character model is a glowed up version that look really nice, so it stands out more. In Miles, it looks much better due to it being made for that game.
I'm no game designer but it's pretty obvious. I still believe in Insomniac to give us that potential for this new look.
They need to really do something about that soft babyface. I just can't imagine this face underneath the symbiote suit.
Maybe give him a teeny bit of facial hair to make him look more rough?
On the Lab Scene on No Way Home when all 3 Spiderman were in the Lab, Both andrew and Holland were wearing Lab Coats and they looked alot like their Video Game Parkers
My only issue is how weird it is that they changed it in the first place. Either actor would’ve been perfectly fine if they just kept the same dude

If he hadn’t fought Green Goblin, Doc Ock or Venom prior to the first games events his life is still hard but it didn’t suck

That's complete bullshit. Sony made them change the face to look more like Tom Holland's Spider-Man for marketing purposes. And I hate that. What they seem to forget is that Tom Holland's Spider-Man is more on the younger side, while this Spider-Man has been doing this for over a decade, he is already a working adult.
My emotional attachment to the old face is one thing but even from a character writing stand point the old one is so much more fitting

Insomniac was too perfect… the only bad thing they’ve ever done is update to this stupid face model. Part of me was hoping they would revert to the old face due to fan backlash, since they’re usually good at listening to the fans, but oh well.

This whole Story of Spider Man 2 will take place like around a year or two after the Original 2018 Story making it almost 9-10 years of Peter Parker being Spider Man.

It was hard to connect with the new face simply because we had the John model first. We got used to way Peter looked thanks to the PS4 version. However, now we have this new one and it somehow just looks… less like he's an actual person in the world. He looks too clean and it was also hard to connect with him in cutscenes because he felt less animated. I'm sure they've done a lot of work to make it look better, but man is it still difficult to get used to Peter's new face.

The old face just looked like someone I could relate to more. The other guy looks like a supermodel. Spidey is supposed to be someone who has problems, issues, and life stuff that they have to deal with: the second guy just doesn't emit the feeling of "My life can suck sometimes" vibes.
He's just too pretty. That said, I could get used to him, it's just my knowledge of the prior face that clouds my vision, cause the other face was just better at being Spidey.

Honestly when i saw John's face the first time, i was like "eww". Then eventually I was like "eh it ain't so bad, works with the voice." First time I saw the new face I just cracked up instantly because of how unfitting it is overall. It has much less expression and doesn't look like it has enough testosterone to fit Yuri's voice.

I honestly liked the original. It gave the idea that even if you're young being Spider-Man can have an affect on you mentally. I wouldn't be surprised if Peter had a lot of sleepless nights as Spider-Man, hed probably gone an entire week without sleeping and that would have an impact on your body and the original face showed that. Then you have the new one where it looks like Peter has been Spider-Man for a year or two, where as the original actually looked like being Spider-Man for 8 years has been less then kind to him

Another thing that sucks is that the original actor's work on the game won't be seen anymore. With every remaster and port, they'll have the newer version as if he was never part of the game

What even was the reason to permanently change it? The original face was fine and felt natural (not to mention the factual expressions, especially at the ending, were great).
The Tom Hollad face makes Peter look much younger than he actually is (even looking younger than Miles and MJ).
I prefer John's face it just puts that maturenes towards his facial features and makes him look older

John's face is Insomniac's Spider-Man to me. I completely forget his face is different until he takes off the mask. So, unless his mask is off, he's still John to me.

The problem the new face will ALWAYS have is that, probably, a majority of people played with with the original face model and have a connection with that person. The new face model isn’t bad, it’s not broken; it’s just not the guy a lot of people went through the story with and that’s never gonna be resolved.

The new one fits the character better in my opinion. But the reason it looks so off in the remaster is they changed the lighting in every scene so his face is alwase perfectly lit so it looks a bit off sometimes. If you look at him in the Spider-Man 2 trailers it looks a lot more natural
