Thank you for dedicating so much of your time to these scam videos. I work in the credit card department of a major bank and these videos help me help so many vulnerable customers.
@Henhen Sings Depends. I know in the US the standard practice for most banks is to cover the fraud/lost money and then investigating. But some banks (usually smaller credit unions) can require a police report, paperwork, etc before they put the money "back" (ie give the client money to cover what they lost) in the account. Also, banks don't *have* to do that. I also think I remember reading somewhere (or hearing somewhere) that (in the US) a victim can't be held responsible to money taken out in their name (ie if your identity is stolen and a debt collector tries to collect on it - you can take them to court). It often doesn't help very much because by the time you report it/realize what happened, the damage is already done to your finances and credit. And most of these laws are for if someone else steals your identity and you were unaware of it/not the one who made the expense/took out the loan/etc, not if you yourself went to the bank, withdrew your own money, and handed it over seemingly willingly.

there are a couple of reasons why I really like watching Jim browning videos. It highlights the following issues : 1. Scamming of unassuming senior citizens 2. The lack of action from the part Indian govt or intervention of other govt on stopping these scammers. But I know that they’re cracking down on money mules now in the us. Thanks to the latest videos of jim. 3. The unemployment rates in India that leads to educated ppl to sought out unscrupulous means to earn a living. 4. The education system in India where you’ve to just learn things by heart. The exams are designed to see how good your memory power is rather than using your knowledge in a more practical way. India has a young population compared to many countries. And imagine using your intelligence and skills to scam old ppl. I wish things would change.

Don’t answer that you’re home alone, say something like they’re busy cleaning a rifle or something. Never let someone know you’re alone, just say they’re doing something that you wouldn’t want to interrupt.

2:00 The only time the registry needs editing or cleaned is if you have performance issues in a program that uses more memory than is used. The registry is kept in system memory, which means it eats 100% of its size in ram, which is unavailable to applications. In general this is not an issue, as the registry is usually only a few megabytes. The only other time is if you need to change OS settings that are not normally available to users. This is a advanced subject and unless you are an actual IT professional, do not attempt it thinking you know a lot about computers. You can literally brick your computer.

It would be interesting to hear how these scammers justify what they do. I've heard some argument that they are themselves trapped and forced into it but some of them seem way too enthusiastic about their "career" for this to be the case.
I think some of them see themselves as legitimate tech support because they don't know any better. They are being scammed, too. These companies prey on the desire people in India have to do real tech support. And to them, they are following scripts that seem like real tech support scripts. I think the scammers themselves are just as fooled as the victims, and it's only the people running the scam business that know it is actually fake.

I love how Jim acts with that slowed-down pronunciation and the surprised "oh god"s.
Thank you for your work! Funny and scary.
there are a couple of reasons why I really like watching Jim browning videos.
It highlights the following issues :
1. Scamming of unassuming senior citizens
Thank you for explaining throughout Jim. It really helps people like me to understand all the different scams 😮❤❤
Scammers in my area usually asked me as a kid for the head of the house. My mum taught us to always say they werent home, no matter what. My parents have answered before and have said stuff like "no, I'm the maid." Or "im the gardener. I should really be in the house to be honest" haha
Don’t answer that you’re home alone, say something like they’re busy cleaning a rifle or something. Never let someone know you’re alone, just say they’re doing something that you wouldn’t want to interrupt.
@@fynnla.e oh thats very fair point! Thank you!!
Lanna's Missing Link No problem, it’s not very likely but there’s always that chance that it could be someone looking for a vulnerable place to rob, person to kidnap etc. Stay safe.
@@fynnla.e yeah thats true, it's happened before in my area. Thanks, you too!
Well dune Jim please keep on just what you do best by helpping uk people by not getting Scamed. We so do need a lot more people like you doing this.❤❤❤
9:29 the soft-spoken "god." Sell it to the scammer! Oscar!
Agree with ArchGirl. Jim has a re-assuring and clear voice with a slight Northern Ireland accent. Audio books or narration is certainly something you should look into. In the meantime please keep up the good work in tracking down these scammers. Fascinating to watch and hear how they work.

Even worse at 10:53 when msinfo32 is opened you can see he put his motherboard as an Intel 440BX. I guess Ryzen and Intel have been compatible all along? Lmao. It just proves how clueless all of these scammers are.

Your videos make me want to actually get scam calls just to mess with them.
I actually had an older customer tell me he couldn't get reimage off his PC.
Remember that a lot of people are vulnerable to this kind of tactic. I'm glad he didn't spend any money on it but it shows how widespread it is.
The funniest is getting such pop-ups on my Linux computers :D That's just amazing ^^

Also, I really appreciate the work you do. You're really making the world a better place.

The best way to ignore all the fakes?
1. Install a real security program/firewall
2. Have pinned to your hot bar.
3. If the pop up occurs, look at your hot bar to see if the program is actually running
4. If not ignore and move on

@@natalieeuley1734 that's false. They know exactly what they're doing. However I will give them this, in parts of India there are.over.100 people applying for 1 job position. So it's probably difficult, but employment is rubbish all over the world and we don't go around scamming people. Its like when they justify it and say, well westerners are rich so it's ok. No, most of us live below the poverty line too.
@@JoejoeEng well, I wonder how India's poverty line compares to America's
