I did this position at Nissan in Smyrna Tennessee, was doing 90-100 moves a night. Enjoyed it for a while bc it kept me in shape but it got old fast and I missed being on the road
This could make an interesting RPG. Where you have the dialog option to _lie_ to a trucker. And send them to the _wrong_ loading bay. WIth, of course, Bethseda-style karma points.
Juat quit my job doing this. Had a bad bumpy and very dusty 2 yards to drive in. The dust was killing me. The job was easy. But the dust was way to much
Oh man, i did this for a year in long Beach at night. I did 40 moves minimum a night between yards that were each a mile away and then i had to do inventory on the intermodals and do a map for the location of each Intermodal so the morning dispatcher can assign containers to the morning drivers to take to the port. The job sucked, drivers didn't even try to park and blocked the entrance with an 80 percent empty yard while I had to get the empties docked so the forklift operators were put to work and I had a shitty night dispatcher/supervisior telling me drivers didn't have space to drop off empties since they had no space to alley dock into the yards when the drivers themselves blocked the entrances and forklift operators telling the dispatcher they had no empties to load and everyone blamed yours truly when I'm busy wasting time fixing the drivers mistakes and taking the loaded containers to get weighed so they could be below 80,000 but above 78,000.
Yeah, it sucks when you have to fix the drivers "mistakes." I have a couple of respots and trailers in the wrong locations every morning. Some are not even in a spot, just in the middle of the yard. And all this is on top of your daily workload. Can be frustrating I agree.
I was a yard jockey for 6 months on a super tight yard. Drivers would just drop their empties in the middle of my yard than rather squeeze them into a spot. Drove me crazy
I think the correct name for it is a "terminal tractor." I call it a spotter truck. Other places call it a goat, mule, switcher, horse, etc...it can have many names.

Am still kind of debating if i should really get this job or not to be honest. Like i dont know if i would want to spend to long away from my family and it seems like y'all are out there a lot.
@@RubenKaztiyo Dang, 10 hrs is too long. I wish it was possible to split a shift with another guy. But no, they want you work long hours and be miserable. I'd like this job, but I don't want to work so long.

Hello from india.
Absolutely loving this trucking stuff back in America, keep posting bro...
super video , love trucks and trailers !!
Amazing Awesome vehicle Machine Friend 👍💪🙂🔥🚛.
Yard dog!! I love the fact that you can raise the fifth wheel. That would otherwise be a tough gig
Awesome work brother!!!! Whats the pay / hours like? I'm wanting to get into it. Looks ez Breezy.

Try some where that’s better
So do you have a list that tells you trailer number with company name and ehat dock it goes to
We have a tablet inside the truck that gives us that information. When the tablet goes down, they give me a list.
@22:33, I wonder what that Amazon Prime trailer is doing here lol
Awesome job your shunter makes it easier with trailers
SCS need to make a game like this xD
thats what im saying!
The mods to add a magical 810hp to the yard dog will be hilarious.
The truck is really amazing. What's the truck name?
You learn quick how to back up trailers and break and hook sets being a yard hostler driving a yard goat.
Dam he's good, It's pretty cool, fast driving around the yard. How many trailers do you move in a day ?
It depends. Some days are busier than others. On busy days, probably between 50-100 trailers. On slow days probably less than 40.

@@RubenKaztiyouse to do this enjoyed it 😊
No donuts and Gatorade on your break.. instant nap time... good to have cell phone chatger in the truck if not a very long day..
And you got to do a yard check....
I feel I should be paid to watch this damn 30 minute video
You have the option not to watch it at all, sir. Nice guitar video 👌. You should post more.

what type of car does he use to pull the trailers I've seen them before in person from afar but never the name.

you should have some sort of air traffic control in that yard

Here are some of the many other names and terms for yard dogs I found:
Trailer Jockeys
Goat

Tugs
Yard Jockeys
Terminal Tractors
Shunt Truck
Mules
Donkey
Tugger
Switcher
Spotter Trucks
Shag Truck
Yard Truck
Truck Driver
Cool, well done Ruben!
Whats with the bolt cutters?
Cut the serial numbered tamper seal off the trailer door's lock.
I need them to break the bolt that's on the trailer doors. Most loaded trailers come here secured with a seal, bolt, wire, and sometimes a screw.
@@RubenKaztiyo Oh, understandable.
Amazing video bro keep your good stuff
Fantastic video!
I'm a switcher and it's crazy that you don't have to wear a seat belt
Why would you need one? Your not going 55 on a highway, your mostly staying in the parking lot and getting in and out of your truck
Who the hell would wear a seatbelt as a yard driver. Shits just in the way
A lot of them don’t even have seat belts 😂
Am still kind of debating if i should really get this job or not to be honest. Like i dont know if i would want to spend to long away from my family and it seems like y'all are out there a lot.
Then you probably don't need to be a truck driver.
It depends on the company you are working for. I have worked between 8 to 12 hours a day for a couple of companies. I'm currently doing 10 hour days.
