Amazing story and even back then (with inflation) that’s close to 4K in today’s money, not cheap. However no one would have thought these watches would be worth the $ they are worth today (let alone get one at an AD 😂) Keep up the great work guys 👏
I had to chuckle when he said that he didn't know how to wind it. I thought there was a manual included that showed how to set the time, date and winding instructions. It's a good thing he seldom took it off!
I have a Rolex spoon. I bought it a few years ago. I just got my first Rolex, an OysterDate Precision 6694 from 1969/70. Glad I have something that's less common to go with it.
Great story and what a watch. Shame its going to be sold to someone with too much money to be able to pay for it and its likley to sit in a safe or be babied by someone for instagram pictures. I hope somebody wears it daily and the watch has a second new life with someone else
I bought this model in London when I was 19 in 1975 for £192. I complained to Rolex about its shortcomings e.g. part of tomorrow's date protruding into the aperture window, moving, rattling bracelet lugs and poor accuracy. I would not give more than £100 for any vintage Rolex.
This is one of the top 3 Rolex videos on UA-cam.
Superb interview and what a story.

What a great story.
Outstanding piece and a very awesome owner.
Gosh from back when actual divers used to wear them. How quaint.
Thanks Eddie! These watches were originally tools watches and used for specific purposes.
OMG he did not know how to wind his watch!

The idea of getting one of these damn things for $500 is driving me insanneeeeee
