Exactly Samuel! That has been the issue with Starlight from the beginning...making threats and not following through. When you have someone under the gun like she did with Homelander it is never smart to wait too long to pull the trigger. Otherwise they will just call your bluff like Homelander did here.

What’s scary about this scene, is that you can tell Homelander has clearly thought about this scenario before. It’s probably rolled around the back of his head for years, planning out how he’d do it if he had to.

That is the difference between Starlight and Maeve. See, Maeve blackmailed him, when Homelander was devastated, but she knew that she had only bought herself some time, so she started helping Butcher to bring Homelander down.
Starlight almost turned Homelander into Omni-Man.
Omni Man believed in his mind what he was doing was right, whereas Homelander would've been just a narcissist that is having a mental breakdown lmao.

Reminds me of that Batman scene where the accountant tries to blackmail Bruce Wayne, and Lucius Fox points out to the wannabe-blackmailer how an alleged-masked vigilante who beats people half to death might respond to threats.

The acting from Anthony Starr is generational. As great as he is, he should still be praised more. Homelander is on the Mount Rushmore of Villains (with Vader, Thanos, and Heath Ledger Joker) and its all bc of him.

I reckon during s4 when its about the politics starlight and homelander i reckon homelanders side will win and homelander before he gets in the white house the flight video will be shown at the ceremony then either everyone will think its a joke but then maeve come and tells thd truth so homelander goes on a rampage and the whole seven team joins the boys and fights homelander it was kinda foreshadowed in the seven team up part in the movie

I think Homelander is bluffing her, he won't destroy USA for two reasons:
If there is something Homelander hate is being feared all the time, being feared means nobody will ever love you, they just pretend to love you. That's why you will notice he respects characters who don't fear him.
The second reason is that Homelander is highly patriotic, destroying USA strongly goes against his core values.
He knew he can bluff Starlight because she is naive.
Well like he said he prefers to be loved and worshipped but if that video is leaked then what’s next everyone hates him damage is done no putting the toothpaste back in the tube so he might as well be feared. As for his patriotism it’s a facade cause that’s what a lot of people love they love a highly patriotic symbol or heroism the only thing he cares about is himself and those that worship him
