I bought red one two days ago and wow. My expectations are not high but wow. Craftsmanship is great and pickups are suprisingly good. This one's only rival at this price range is Aria TaClassic es335. But Aria is a little bit more expensive.
Nice review. Just got a black one and am amazed at the quality. It is also so beautiful. I am over 70 and have owned every high end guitar made..well, maybe not all but over a thousand easy. It was so hard for most of my life to afford the Gibson es guitars but managed to end up owning almost every Gibson, Gretsch, Fender etc.. guitar made over my lifetime. Until recent years young folks could not afford nice guitars, but i am happy now to watch young players with very nice and inexpensive guitars. When i want to play a little, i get my Donner and the expensive one's sit in their cases. Thank you!
Ordered mine in Black a few days ago and should have it by the end of the week. Can't wait as I'm getting back into guitars in my 60's after failing to properly learn as a teenager. Wish me luck!
Good luck with you playing journey I started playing again at 59 now 62. was learning as a teen but got sidetracked by life in general. At this time I play at least 30 min a day and love it. Take care and keep playing.

Ive played Artcore but not specifically the AS-53. I would say the Donner is on par quality with a higher end Chinese made Ibanez. I thought the pickups may sound a bit better on the Donner and the coil tapping is a nice option
Just pulled the trigger. Almost cheaper than buying pizza for the grand kids. Free returns can't go wrong if all I have to do is minor set up like you did.
Hi. Great review on the Honnor DJP1000. My wife gave me one of these for Xmass. I am very impressed with this guitar. Play's rearly well way ahead of some more high market samples. The only down point for me is the tone controls on both picups dont do a great deel. Its all or nothing but these can soon be changed for better pots. May do some shielding in the pockets that the pic ups sit in just as a precaution. One other thing im getting is buzzing from the strings by the bridge. Any idea's. Great show, Thanks.
You could use a piece of sandpaper or a file and just make sure the saddle slots on the bridge aren't the culprit (widening them a bit can sometimes help). Raising the tailpiece height can help as well.
Are you ever going to put the truss cover back? :) Thanks for the thorough review and demo. It is pretty compelling. This might be my new hollow body. Would you recommend putting shielding tape in the pickup cavities, since it has coil splitting? I’ve been considering doing that for some of my tappable pickups, and p-rails in particular.
I haven't had any issues with it so far in that respect, although that's a good idea and a pretty easy addition if needed. Found the cover and put it back on haha. It's a great guitar, I still pick it up a lot
To be honest I've never tried those, but in comparing this to a Epiphone dot (which I have tried) I would say it's on par. At least the one I received is, I can't speak on consistency but they do have a high rating on Amazon. The materials and build quality are similar to an Epiphone

So how did the finish look on your guitar? Could you see the grain underneath?

I bought the GROTE 335 for $179+ tax. It was fantastic right out of the box.
Oh, how I wish more people would review guitars as thoroughly as you just did. Amazing work! How would you compare it to an Ibanez Artcore AS-53?
