    Dear Shawn,
    I followed many of your lessons. You and Mike Malaska are the ones who made sense for me and my natural swing which now respects my anatomy.
    My only problem is that now I only play with my 60 degrees wedge up to 135 yards. My pitching wedge does up to 205 yards... I feel like I have overdone it. :P
    If you ever come down to Montreal, I would love to have real life lessons with you. :)

I am in Quebec city and don’t travel much because I am always in time management mode with all my students here and those who come from out of town; my equipment here with teaching aids and my GC Quad have my lessons so dialled in that it’s far better for you to come here.

    You are absolutely correct Shawn. My 'whoosh' is in completely the wrong spot, I hit 'at' the ball. Despite having used an intermediate point for aim, I always hit at the ball, and am more than likely not rotating out of the way of myself as I've been known to hook irons from time to time. This mindset is going to help me so much. Thank you.

      If your still hitting at the ball, your not understanding the pivot.
      It happens behind you not in front .
      Once you get that right your swings will be in front of you and the target 🎯 will be easy to seek .

      I know what you are saying; like Matt Fitzpatrick right? Before you do that; you want to make sure your mind is delivering through the ball and into the direction you want to start the ball; releasing that way with speed past the ball. If your attention is on the ball at address and the task given is to hit the ball as your target, then it does not matter what grip you have as you will be chasing your tail forever.

But I still struggle with par 3s getting on the greens and posting a par or better. I am comfort with a PW and 8, but my 9 is a different story, plus this video I noticed that my peak speed is right after the ball and not toward my target.
    I am going to try throwing my clubs to see if that helps to get me the compression of the ball to get the distant I am looking for. Great job doing what you do!!!!

    Shawn. It came together for me today. I have been playing for two years and I very much hit "at the ball". My philosophy was always I need to learn to hit the ball first before I take aim at pins. Today at the range I watched some of your videos and it clicked. I did the split grip "toss" on the backswing and joined my hands at the top. The key for me like you said in one of your videos a few years ago is to catch the backswing toss with the squat. From there I just tried to throw the club without letting go at various pins. When I really let loose and let it go, I hit 250 yard power fades with my driver and pasted my 6 iron 180 yards, which I can usually never get off the ground. I am only going to work on this from now on. Thank you so so so so so much!!!!!!!!

    I get rushed out on the course, I have to slow down and remember these things. If I have a target I tend to be right at it maybe 5-10 yards off but usually right on it. If I don’t find a target and rush and get to the ball it’s every bad shot you can think of and I have no clue which one is coming, topped thinned fat left right shank. Finding a target I think is the first key to great success in a golf shot. Idk how many videos of yours I’ve watched and it’s all the same concept but anything can happen to me. I can get rushed off the first tee and boom focus is solely on the ball. Narrowed it down yesterday to this. It was a terrible day. Had a 4some in front of me being rude and not letting people play through, had 2 newbies behind me hitting the ball into me yelling screaming if they hit the ball had me all out of sorts but it was good medicine because I realized the few shots that I had the time to find my target were the only good shots I hit

I always hit good drives on holes where I have a good target to swing at. When I don't I have lot of trouble with a 2 way miss that is usually the left one (actually happy to see a block after a few left hooks). @AttRandyReynolds 2 роки тому +1

    So, I noticed the video's title. You are not actually stating that the viewer can hit 300 yard drives, right? Only a very small percentage of people can hit 300 yard drives no matter the technique, the equipment, the exercises, the vitamins ingested, or anything else. Distance is mostly a matter of muscle fiber, quick-twitch, or otherwise. And muscle fiber is genetic.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 роки тому

      It is also a matter of collecting the ball from where it lies and delivering it deep in the direction you want ro start the ball. There is a 30 yards difference between AT THE BALL and THROUGH THE BALL; which is the average distance a student walks out of here with when they have been taught to hit the ball.

    • @AttRandyReynolds
      @AttRandyReynolds 2 роки тому +1

      @@golflessons I would guess the distance I could hit a ball, from the first time I hit a golf ball squarely, to a year later, was 20-30 yards. It was not due to anything other than, to put it as simple as possible, "figuring it out". But as I said, I was never going to hit a drive anywhere near 300 yards.

    • @golflessons
      @golflessons  2 роки тому

      @@AttRandyReynolds Then there are the usual suspects that prevent golfers from getting to their fullest potential, namely the “keep the lower body steady” and “keep the head down” and any positional manipulations you are going to make are going to slow down the swing. We do incredible things here to help our students and it is wonderful to see Savy get to her potential at 125 pounds and carrying the ball 275 and Mu after 4 years getting to 375 carry with 150 MPH club speed. I really don’t think you realize who you are conversing with right now because the industry has never been here before.

    • @AttRandyReynolds
      @AttRandyReynolds 2 роки тому

      @@golflessons I agree that the goal is to allow the golfer to meet their full potential. The question is, what does that mean? It's rarely means 300 yard drives. Again, it all depends on the type of muscle fiber in the muscles used to swing a golf club. Compared to a sledgehammer or for that matter, a baseball bat, a golf club doesn't weight much and also, golf allows for a long swing. So, theoretically, smaller people may have the potential to hit comparatively longer shots. If a person has some level of physical fitness and has played sports that involve hitting an object, they are halfway home. It then becomes a matter of directing their athletic skills to the golf game.
