That last line is so good “And I used to think You could hear the ocean in a seashell What a childish thing!” Something so brilliantly universal yet so specific and haunting
I still can't believe how many people, Fantano included, think this song sounds sad. I mean, I guess it has some of that tone aesthetic, but this has got to be one of the most profoundly happy songs that Phoebe, or anyone else, has written. It's about being able to see the beauty in yourself, feeling empowered, by being awestruck at the way someone else sees you. I dunno, that's just really cool to me.
@@activatewindows5 You didn't have to since there's only one line that has the meaning you ascribed, and literally two lines down from that reverses the narrative, "til you came into my life, gave me something to lose." The song is about coming out of that pathological dissociation, realizing you do have value "wanting to go outside", "loving the shape of your outline," seeing the meaning and worth in existing, inhabiting a physical body, being perceived, letting someone **know** you.
Everyone who voted not on this only listens to rap and you can’t tell me otherwise this shit is fucking beautiful and I feel bad for anyone who can’t enjoy her music
@@dannyg9410 yeah I mean I do get that people can not like her music I just love her music so much and just have fun having people get mad at me in the comments. I do feel bad if you don’t enjoy it tho because for me her music is all in contention for my favorite things I’ve ever heard
some sections seem like moon song so it's pretty good

i fucking loved the fact that he did a face exactly when i did a face when first heard this song when it came out, that line is indeed HARD melon, it's a bar

It's about feeling numb. Nothing matters and she has to watch everything happen without control.
@@activatewindows5 That's a single line out of a whole song that has more than a single line.
@@rohiogerv22 I didn't even name a line.

@@activatewindows5 it's about growing old.
Listening to such a beautiful song in such a terrible outfit is a true crime.
Shoutout to the guy who said “I haven’t cried this hard since Counting Crows” lmao
Very Imogen Heap/Postal Service-esque, and that's a good thing.
Yeah immediately gave me postal service vibes (which I'll gladly eat up)
Also very very Lali Puna/Baths!!
Holy fuck when he said "thats hard" i died laughing i love you melon
Would very much like to see Phoebe Bridgers go into an 'age of adz' direction. Can't get enough of this one.
holy shit that'd be kinda cool. doubt it's happening though. every artist has their own journey
Nav would have definitely ate this beat up

saw both ur pfps and thought it was just 1 guy talking to himself lmao
Or it’s just a bit bland? I love some of her stuff but this is beige and middle of the road as fuck
vvvictoria v i disagree, i think it’s beautifully composed and the instrumental being kind of a mix between techno and folk sounds great to me
