That is certainly a lot of work, I appreciate the “ keep it original “ view but if it was mine I would have got it blasted, painted and baked.
Maybe it’s because as a kid we never had much money and the family cars we had were rust buckets so I very much prefer the shiny just out the factory look.
Each to their own of course and best of luck with the rest of the build.

Rob, i found using the wire wool method it took the gloss from the remaining paint, how it will come with T-Cut on the paint but avoid any bare steel as it will polish that as well. Congrats on becoming a Grandad, don't tell your kids but grandkids are way more fun

Use Morris Lubricants 'Ankor Wax' to preserve that patina. The VW community swear by it to preserve the rat look type vehicles.

The most economical would be a warm pump. Would love to be able to afford one.

You keep going on about how cold it is 😮 you do live in Norway 😂😂😂
And to say its time consuming thats the quickest prep and coat of a frame iv seen 😮 try fitting carbon fibre bodywork to a GP, its that time consuming i left mine in my mates garage as i knew he couldn't let it sit there and the next time i saw it " when i called up to build it ' it was done 😂
