He was no Keith moon, but i thought he was a very good replacement. Imagine the pressure following in those footsteps. I saw them in MS on the first tour after KM passed.
@@antonraterman2281 Yeah I can imagine it was alot of pressure on him to follow-up from Keith but I say for the time he was in the band he made it work.
Saw them do this in 08. Old dude in front of me screamed for like, 15 seconds when the song started. Then he whipped around and yelled, "Haven't heard them play this in 20 years!" and gave me a high five.
Agreed -- doing that right now. But then John's normal operating mode was phenomenal. It would have been nice if the vid people had given him equal time (02:57).
Kenny was awsome here. Moon could never pull off songs like this. Jones gave much more to songs like Sister Disco and Drowned. He had had difficulty with Baba O and Teenage Wasteland not his stile like some songs on Tommy. But still an incredible drummer.
How Pete puts those notes and transitions together is amazing. He may not be completely technical, but his sound is nothing I have or will ever hear in my life.
Kenny Jones’ shining moment in The Who. He actually takes this song to place that Moonie didn’t. No disrespect to Moon, he lost a little bit of the edge the last few years of his life.
Legends. Imagining Keith behind his monster Premier kit happily clattering away at this show. Kudos to Kenney for stepping up and filling the toughest shoes of the irreplaceable Moon.
That was great, I love the end when Pete and Roger are sitting next to eachother, even thou Pete probably was ready to kill Roger haha. John is so cute just standing there doing his thing. Pete's go some muscle after all those years.
Who's watching this again because they just saw the interview where Pete says he hates when Roger would come over and smile at him when they sang this?
Sorry, but Kenney Jones is an amazing drummer. Can't replace Moonie, but damn is Kenney a master of technique. Even Roger admitted he was the wrong fit for the band, though. I still love the latter-day Who records tho with Kenney.
As usual, the director barely shows the best musician in the band. The greatest exception over the years was Jeff Stein, who featured John a lot in "The Kids Are Alright," especially the new footage made for the film.
OF COURSE JONES WAS/IS GOOD but was a sad replacement for yu kno WHO ! and knowing moons last photo was of him and jones TOGETHER just boils my AZZ ! hireing him was a nessesary deal as any longer of a pause in touring esp and it was lights OUT for the boys , i know i did want it to END nothing by them except maybe a small, few, songs is all ILL confirm, that equals like 3-4 TOPS
this is a perfect example of Kenny Jones drumming style... he is so SNARY... looks like he's scare to hit more drums so he concentrates in the snare. i mean he's a good beat keeper... but extremely basic. isn't he?
i swear there'ssome kind of force making kenny use that thing, it's hugely visible in a quiet one, he had to make brief pauses as it would sound like a drum roll, not a fill!
The more I listen to Kenny the more brilliant I realize he is...wow, that guy rocks!
Paul Bordelon , I LOVE Kenney’s drumming on this song!
The more I listen and watch their early 80s stuff the more I realize that Kenney Jones.....is actually pretty damn good.

It would have technically been 26 years but he was close enough right?
Hahahahaha you’re gonna be that “Old dude” sooner than you can imagine.
Gotta listen to this on headphones to get a full handle on exactly what JOHN is doing here - it's phenomenal.
Agreed -- doing that right now. But then John's normal operating mode was phenomenal. It would have been nice if the vid people had given him equal time (02:57).
John’s bass playing on this tune is on another stratosphere!!!!!!
I don't care if Pete hates this song... John shined on this song and this was a highlight of this show.
Yes, but it'd be nice if they'd show him more than once or twice a song!
Kenney was so good with The Who for those few years.
I went to see this tour at the Pontiac Silverdome, Pontiac, Mich. main floor approx. 25 rows back. They were on top of their game that night!!!
Kenny was awsome here. Moon could never pull off songs like this. Jones gave much more to songs like Sister Disco and Drowned. He had had difficulty with Baba O and Teenage Wasteland not his stile like some songs on Tommy. But still an incredible drummer.

Great comment mike , he was in decline after 74
Bill Curbishley, if you're reading this...please have this wonderful concert remastered to Blue Ray and DVD...what are you guys waiting for?
Keney Jones bangs the drums pretty well

In a fair world I would be able to like this twice.
Turn your computer upside down and vote thumbs down.
You voted thumbs up twice!
saintfrancis saintfrancis Good quote!
i remeber this concert on HBO, my first taste of the Who, i never looked back!!!
That was great, I love the end when Pete and Roger are sitting next to eachother, even thou Pete probably was ready to kill Roger haha. John is so cute just standing there doing his thing. Pete's go some muscle after all those years.
Roger knows Pete hates this song so roger dosent leave him alone .. I love them
If Pete hated it that much, why did he bother to write it in the first place?
@@TimothyHorrigan i think he hates sister disco because of roger i think
I wouldn’t’ve had any idea that Pete hated this song. He plays it so damn good. It’s an interesting song
1:07 one of my favorite vocal bridges in all of rock music.
That part always gives me goosebumps and just when I think it couldn’t get better, Roger comes in with the next part and the goosebumps double.
And johns bassline is probably one of the most sublime things he ever recorded.
YES!!!!! It's absolutely stunning
love the gold telecaster..power chords and audience amazing at 2.45 and 3.02 //POWER AND VOLUMEEEEE
Kenny Jones had to fill in for a legend: one of the toughest gigs in rock, and wow did he do it well!
Who's watching this again because they just saw the interview where Pete says he hates when Roger would come over and smile at him when they sang this?
yep lol
Absolutely.
Good bye Sister Disco take me where the music fits my soul, just can't but like the lyrics to this song
big up kenny jones great drumming here
I was there in Toronto Maple Leaf Gardens
Same here.
I LOVE THE WHO SO MUCH!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I ALWAYS ALWAYS WILL. LONG LIVE THE WHO. THANK YOU PETE THANK YOU ROGER ,THANK YOU JOHN, THANK YOU KEITH.
This concert was done not too long after keith died.
What about kenney
I saw them in Buffalo in 1983. Still one of the best concerts I've ever been to.
Love this one. They all come out looking good.
Much better live.. Amazing
Was at both of the "final" concerts in T.O. (plus the outdoor concert at Excruciating Stadium earlier that tour, AND r
@QClegal Amen brother, I would pay anything for a good copy of this concert.
I seen them right before this concert in Cleveland, spectacular!
Ha ha! Dont think so. Night before was also in Toronto🤣🤣😁
Fantastic song!!!
Great track / at their best in this video / since live at Leeds
Nice song, this one
Maravilhoso!!!!!!!!
another decent song from the whos later catalog
Same show I seen in richfield Ohio. Awsome
its funny to see artists go through every decade and change their wear and hairdress xD
Saw them days before in Syracuse
KENNY ROCKS!!!!!!!
Kenny ROCKS!
@cattledog5
That would be gaffers tape. Its there so the mike doesn't become a missile.
Nicely done (saw them in 1982 also), but this mainly makes me miss Moon. Bittersweet
The best Who song K Jones ever played was this one. Great live song
great track comes alive live [ and with lasers
Kenny Jones really shines on this tune! I dig Zak, and Keith of course but Kenny had his moments too.
they played this at the Brisbane 2009 show- excellent!!!
Perfect😅😅
I have most of this gig on a VHS recorded around 1986/87 but this song accidentally got wiped some years back ... gutted...!
V
I forgot how good The Who is. They're kinda cliche prog rock at the same time they kickass on most bands, few are up there on the level of The Who.
Sorry, but Kenney Jones is an amazing drummer. Can't replace Moonie, but damn is Kenney a master of technique. Even Roger admitted he was the wrong fit for the band, though. I still love the latter-day Who records tho with Kenney.
I love the "mic condom" that D. has on his microphone.
pete's doped as hell
Daltry wearin’ the Canadian Tuxedo in Canada
Bye bye Sister disco .... thank you God !
Kenney Jones got some GUNS!
Needs more cowbell
As usual, the director barely shows the best musician in the band. The greatest exception over the years was Jeff Stein, who featured John a lot in "The Kids Are Alright," especially the new footage made for the film.
Who's Last.......won't get fooled again
Kenny Jones was so good
Maple leafs Gardens in Toronto
Jones was great on Drums. And had an impossible spot to fill after moons death.
He did a great job. To bad Daultry never thought he was a good fit.
Hmm, Kenny Jones at around 3:23......not bad!
@vintageguitarworld I would've traded your place for anthing I owned back then...;)
keith playing better in studio .. alive much better
Asthma luego
Music's brilliant. Haircut's are terrible -so 80's

He's dependable but not inspired. The opposite of Moon really 😂!!
I love the Who but I dislike this song, not one of their best.
Best I was there
