- Strategic Analysis Australia Director Michael Shoebridge says the reported sinking of a Chinese nuclear submarine is a “damaging reverse” for Beijing.
“But they will recover that and that submarine will probably be operating in two or three years,” he told Sky News Australia.
“There’s a lot of work that’ll have to be done to prepare it.”

I think this is Chinese disinformation so that they can operate their new submarine and we don’t think it’s in active service. News like this does not slip out from communist countries. They’ll wipe out bloodlines to ensure silence

Two months ago, in a similar "ChinaBad" video from "China Uncensored", they used the same Internet image, but claimed it was a "Yuan-class" submarine. A Diesel one:

And, in the description it says:

While I agree with you 100%, I will say the majority of the pushback (least in the US & Europe) isn't from the government itself, albeit the years of bureaucracy you would have to go through with an average of 7-10 years for regulatory approval is a tad bit too extreme, but the main reason why existing nuclear power stations have been shutting down at their end of life, and not many new ones being built is due to the public's "fear" in having a nuclear power plant next to their city/town. Even though nuke plants are FAR more reliable than many other types of power production out there like coal/NG, and the levels of radioactivity inside a nuke plant is actually less than what you might get from an x-ray at the dentist or even standing outside in sunlight, people like to get all fearful over horror stories like Chernobyl or what happened in Japan after the tsunami hit, despite the amount of research and advancements we've made in nuclear physics since then. So yeah, we definitely need to change the culture and public perception of nuclear if we want to actually see nuclear power take off.
PS side note, nuclear not only could help with power generation, but it could also help with distilling salt water to fresh water for any nearby places along the coast of any country, provided that the nuke plant is also relatively close to the coast as well!

When I saw the news about the sinking of a nuclear submarine in Wuhan, I was confused. Wuhan is a city in central China, on the Yangtze River and at least 1,500 kilometers away from the nearest coastline. Its location is similar to Chicago in the United States. I don’t think the Chinese will put their nuclear submarine assembly plant in Wuhan, just like the United States won’t build Seawolf-class nuclear submarines or Ohio-class nuclear submarines in Chicago. In fact, China's warship construction bases are mainly in Dalian, Shanghai and Guangzhou. They are all large cities with strong industries and close to the sea. Those who fabricated or believed this news probably lacked the most basic logic and geographical common sense. You are discussing something that does not exist in a serious way.

The training of Australian submariners does not stop at sub school in places like Idaho, US. They will probably be integrated into the USN program for real experience. By the time Australia receives its first nuclear submarine, there will be a nuclear submarine infrastructure staffed with institutional knowledge within the Australian Navy. By contrast, look at how the PRC does its nuclear sub program. That country's habits extend to its navy, i.e. taking shortcuts by obtaining the knowhow by all means. Without institutional knowledge, the PLAN has no idea what works, what does not work, and why it works. The latest PLAN aircraft carrier is another example of lacking institutional knowledge but of the non-nuclear program.

These submarine bases should really be built in very secret locations around Australia 🌏 The only way in is via underwater tunnels that link up to a Sub base near a mountain would be ideal like in Hawaii in the northern part of the island chain.. To get into these Sub bases on land you need to enter via a mountain entry 🏔️ Using a cover like a Hillside home or factory like a kangaroo skinning business 😅
Then it would not be secret, it would be the obvious place... anyway, even most mountains cannot withstand a nuke, which is why the US had retired their under mountain NORAD base. Geological surveys had concluded that even a mountain in the Rockies woul not structurally withstand a nuke. The only way to keep subs safe is to keep them at sea at all times.

Look up the USS Guitaro, it sunk at Mare Island Naval Shipyard while doing Ballast Tank tests. Shore power cables were installed in the open hatches for maintenance work and unfortunately the testing placed the sub an angle where water entered the forward hatch. All of it's wiring had to be replaced.
What they miss in quality they make up for in quantity. After visiting and doing business in China you realise it’s industrial might. It is staggering when you see it in the flesh. The shipyards and infrastructure was on a mind blowing scale.

The Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry Group has been a major builder of Chinese warships & submarines for a long time. They have been in business for 90 years. It is definitely a brainless rumor to say that submarines can sink in Wuhan. The water depth of the Yangtze River section in Wuhan is only 5-6 meters, and the diameter of a nuclear submarine is more than ten meters... Wuhan can indeed build relatively small-tonnage submarines, but they can only sail on the surface and cannot sink under the water... China currently has two nuclear submarine bases: Jianggezhuang Base in Shandong and Yalong Bay Base in Hainan. Both of them are in caves and can withstand nuclear strikes.
