His best shot from that 2010 Brier final win was actually the shot he made in the 10th end to force Glenn to a single, rather than the cold draw to the button you've included for the win in 11 (also incredible of course). The precision of the hack weight split/hit-and-roll he made cannot be understated, and in my opinion it was the greatest shot in Brier finals history; more difficult than the famous Hackner double and just as important.
I’m a huge fan of the game and know the shot you’re referring to but I have to call you on this one. Al Hackner’s double at the Labatt Brier in 1985 was the greatest curling shot ever made until this year’s (2023) Worlds (if you know, you know). Just because it only involved two rocks and a shooter doesn’t mean it wasn’t almost impossible to pull off. There are many curling shots that look (and are) fantastic because of the number of rocks and angle’s involved, but Al Hackner’s double will go down in history as one of the greatest curling shots ever made because of the precision of it. He had to save the shooter which looked impossible. People are still, 38 years later, talking about it and trying to duplicate it (with less than stellar results).
@@MiffetBlue The Hackner double was incredible, especially considering the conditions of the game then versus now; it was much, much harder to make that shot back then. But it's a matter of opinion really. I thought Koe's shot was better. There's no right answer. The Hackner double will undoubtedly be remembered forever, while Koe's shot is mostly forgotten, which I think is an injustice. Agreed that Nick Edin has just made the best shot of all time in any case.
@@brianmathews2926 the first thing I want to say is thank you. Thank you for not taking my head off with your response to my comment. Most people get their hackles up when a response to their comment is in any way contradictory, so again, thank you. As for the Hackner double being a much harder shot to make then than it is today is perfectly accurate, it was much harder to make back then.
This list could be amended to include the ridiculous run back split for three his team executed at this year's Brier (I can't remember the opponent). If you listen to the on-ice conversation before the shot, his team wasn't even sure what he was calling at first, and after the shot commentator/skip Cheryl Bernard called it possibly the best curling shot she had ever seen. Check it out.
Someone said it best when they said ‘for anybody else it would be the best shot of their career. For Kevin Koe it was Saturday’. He’s just that good. #koemagic
Fantastic curler, and underrated, IMO.
Love to watch KK play 🥌❤
Great shots!
Just sick skills and cool under pressure .
What a great sport!
